Unfortunately, I had to DNF this book. I struggled to read it and I really tried, but it was too ponderous. Thank you, Netgalley and Yorkshire Publishing for giving me the ARC

I found this book interesting, but difficult to get through. It felt like a long, long-winded story, although I don’t know what could have been left out. I found it somewhat disturbing to see how easily a man of God and a historically-godly church could be sidetracked so far. There was one chapter that really made an impact on me; Chapter 20, when Dan’s wife Sharon attended a different church than the one he wanted her to go to. The sermon that was preached at that church that day about how Jesus didn’t ask for obedience, but for love, has left me thinking about it for a week now. So, if you are interested in the history and apostasy of the United Methodist Church, or about how a person can deceive himself and an organization can quickly turn away from the faith, read this book. If you are looking for a quick, easy read, though, this isn’t the one for you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, and these are my honest thoughts about it.

This was an emotional read. If you've ever been involved in church leadership or employment it will move your heart. Church is made up of sinful people with their own agendas, This book is a reminder that God loves us all and we need to maintain our integrity as we seek God's way for us.
