I thought this was a very lovely book if you want to learn to draw. I’m trying to think of the primary audience this would want to cater for and I think it would be perfect for someone curious, looking to pick up a new skill and not sure where to start. It’s not necessarily the best structured book and it won’t turn you into the best artist in the world but I think it would definitely be a good tool that would spark an interest and lead someone to then go away and research and study their drawing skill more in depth!
This was an incredible book! I have been working on my art skills lately and this was so helpful and informative. It is.a Great jumping off point for the beginner or experienced artist.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

Such a great book for learning to draw. You really get the basics down like tone, lines/curves, textures, and angles. I really like how the author covers different mediums for drawing as well and the results that each gives. This would be a great book for anyone wanting to learn to draw.
Thanks to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing, and Moira Clinch for an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts in this review are my own.
My New Year’s resolution was to give myself a creative outlet by drawing more. Like most resolutions, I started off strong and then my efforts slowly tapered off. This book gave me just the motivation I needed to start drawing again. Not only has it provided great inspiration but it has also taught me several new drawing techniques. The resources section at the end is especially helpful for a drawing novice like myself. I’ve found that some guides can be intimidating, but Start Here: Draw is very approachable and engaging.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
Do you love to draw? Are you thinking about getting started in drawing? This book covers a variety of topics about getting started in drawing such as brush drawing and adding dimension. It takes you through setting up your sketchbook and practicing different patterns then making them your own. I enjoying drawing and was able to add some new drawing skills to my work. I feel it's perfect for any drawing level.
Thank you NetGalley for the ebook in exchange for an honest review.
This book contains some very useful tips on topics such as perspective, as well as numerous fun exercises to do, all of which will improve your drawing! Easy to read and to apply on a sketch book, this one is a book that can be read and re-read whenever needed.
A fun book to get the creative juices flowing. I appreciate the slow build ip structure. It helps you learn one small step at a time. Fun way to learn and develop some skills.
I love this little book. The essence of the book is not step by step instructions, but working with textures (lines, curvy line, pixels, brush strokes). The artwork is amazing and particularly like the pixel and thumbprint art. It would work great as an activity for my students. Each page is decorated and colorful, showing the authors talents. I would definitely use this in my speech classroom for those students who love art.
