OMG!!!!!!!! I was blown away by how much I absolutely loved this book. I can’t even write barely anything because I feel like even the smallest information might spoil it. I loved the characters so much! They were annoying and self-centered at the beginning but they all (almost all) did a 180 by the end of the book. The tension and bickering between Triton and Anela were perfect. The story line was flawless. I wish I could go back a re-read this book for the first time (I will be re-reading it even without the first-time effect). 5 out of 5 stars, this is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. Do check the trigger warnings because this book was a lot of traumas.

I originally had the opportunity to beta read this novel and I loved it from the very beginning. I've always been a HUGE fan of The Little Mermaid and I love the way this follows the sea witch and what made her the way she is. I love that the spicy scenes in this novel are relevant to the plot and aren't overly descriptive. You get to watch Triton grow into a better... person? Siren? but watch Anela become a shadow of her former self. As one becomes better, the other becomes worse. It's just so beautifully done! The inclusivity of Hawaiian mythology was also a wonderful touch and not something commonly seen. I'm not familiar with it much myself outside of Pele so I loved learning about it and the shark demigods, especially from a local author to Hawai'i.
While I'm a big fan of her other books, I really hope we get more stories like this from Ralynn Kimie! Thank you Netgalley, Steely Co., and Ralynn Kimie for letting me read this!
