Overall, I enjoyed this one even if it was a little slower than the first book. Once the action started though it was another fun mystery. The Sorters were as adorable as ever and I love Wishyouwas so much. I'd definitely recommend this children's fantasy series.
Having read book number 1 with my class, I knew I had to read book number 2. This was a fantastic sequel to the original but could be read as a stand alone story also. The familiar characters of Penny, Wishyouwas and an assortment of other sorters return to solve the ultimate lost letter mystery in the form of a letter to the queen. The was a sense of tension throughout along with empathy for Penny and the dilemma she finds herself with.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and can't wait to surprise my class with this during the summer term.
What a fabulous follow up to the first book in this series. Once again we follow Penny Black and the gorgeous WishYouWas as they try and save the Coronation, when a vital item goes missing. This is one of those series that are definite keepers and you know that they will be a comfort blanket whenever you want to curl up with a hot drink and a favourite read.

I loved the first book in the Wishyouwas series and was very happy to be able to read book 2 in advance of publication. I absolutely loved it, Page has created a great range of characters some old and some new to come together and solve a new mystery. Who has stolen the Queen's letter, why have they taken it? and most importantly, where is it? Her coronation can't take place with put it!
Penny and Wishyouwas overcome loss, danger, and challenges, the depth of their friendship is beautiful. And best of all there is a happy ending for Penny's problems.
A great adventure
Lovely old-fashioned adventure with an engaging cast of human and fantasy characters. The action maintains a good pace and has just the right amount of tension and peril. Stands alone quite well without needing knowledge of the first to get into. Worth having for mid-range juniors
It's 1953, just days from the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, and Penny Black can't get into the summer holiday spirit. Not when she's about to move to Scotland – and away from everything she knows – for good.
But when Wishyouwas plops into the fireplace in a cloud of soot and chaos, with a summons from the Royal Postmistress herself, all of Penny's plans suddenly go up in smoke.
The intrepid pair are soon on the trail of a mysterious traitor and a potentially deadly plot to halt the coronation. Their investigation will take them across London's busy streets, high up in the air and deeper into danger than they've ever been before …..
Amazing story! I loved every page, so many twists and turns…
It's 1953, and as she reluctantly prepared to move the Scotland, the last thing Penny Black expects is to have Wishyouwas materialise in her fire place with a very special assignment!
Very soon, she find herself caught up in the adventure of a lifetime, tracking down traitors and foiling plots.
This is a delightful romp, with plenty of excitement and humour packed into Penny's new and very unexpected lifestyle change. Highly enjoyable.
