I love psychological thrillers, and this was absolutely incredible! The storytelling is absolutely captivating. The author weaves together a complex and suspenseful plot that will leave you guessing at every turn. The way she builds tension and keeps you guessing is truly masterful. I found myself constantly trying to piece together the puzzle, and just when I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. Especially at the revelation at the end?? I was NOT expecting that!
The characters in Her Pretty Lies are so well-developed and relatable. They have depth and complexity that make them feel like real people. I loved Kendall, she was my favourite by far! I also liked Cal.
The writing style in this is top-notch. The authors style is elegant and evocative, painting vivid pictures in your mind as you read. Her attention to detail is impeccable, making the settings come alive and immersing you in the story. I could practically feel the tension and atmosphere jumping off the pages. I was hooked and on the edge of my seat, trying to figure things out myself.
Overall, Her Pretty Lies is a must-read for fans of suspenseful thrillers. Angela Henry has crafted a gripping and engrossing story that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery with plenty of twists and turns. So definitely preorder or get on release day! It’s an absolute must.
This book was a wild adventure. I did not see that twist coming at the end! I'm definitely digging the relationship between Cal and Kendall and hope they continue with a series on their relationship. Great writing by the author. Thanks to net gallery and the publisher for a e-ARC of this book.
This book was definitely bingeworthy. I love a good easy, quick read with fun twists and that’s exactly what this was.
Unfortunately there was a lot to keep up with and I sometimes found myself a little lost. Got a little bored half way through but overall I liked it, didn’t love it but definitely a quick thriller to read.
Messed up, twisted and dark but also captivatingly brilliant. Some parts were a bit raise your eyebrows unbelievable but that didn’t get in the way of a page turning great plot. The sort of book that contains more family lies and secrets than the average soap opera over a decade but fabulous gossip and intrigue and more shocks than Jeremy Kyle. There are also some great contemporary nods to cyber crime and influencers and the hold of social media plus how our parents can seriously mess us up. A great read especially if you don’t take it too seriously.
A quick read with a good storyline. This has everything you would want in a book, it has lots of drama, sneaky characters who all have secrets and lies. You don’t know who to trust and then as you turn the page your opinion changes.
I was quite enjoying this book until I reached around the last 75% mark where everything was supposed to come together and reach the ending. However, the last 25% of the book I found to be too far fetched and unbelievable. There was too much going on within each character and revelations were coming from all over the place. It was too much to take in, I tried to re-read a few parts but still found it very confusing, hence the three stars.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was my first book by Angela Henry and I was pleasantly surprised. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book and it kept me very engaged. I loved the characters in the book and Angela's style of writing.
You know, sometimes I'm really glad I'm not a character in some of these books I read. Just saying.
I also say a book has been a roller coaster but I think this one just might take the cake.
The story hooks you right from page one. Ah, who am I kidding I went straight from the blurb to page one, to the final pages. This one is one hard to put down because things just keep spiraling.
I really hope our main character, Kendall Good, gets some very deep therapy. I feel like I might need it after reading everything this poor girl goes through constantly in her life. I love despite all that, she still has her morals, even as she breaks some, and still has the drive to keep plodding forward. Her figure it out attitude is admirable.
My only complaint...not a huge...but I felt like something was missing along the Cal plot line. It felt maybe a bit rushed? I'm not sure. But overall a great read that you can't out down.
Another blinding thriller filled with twists, just as we have come to expect from Angela Henry’s brilliant books.
Luck just isn’t on Kendall Good’s side right now, so when well- known influencer and fellow student Mackenzie offers her a deal she can’t refuse, Kendall finds herself entwined in Mackenzie’s life, family and lies.
As I’m reflecting on what I just read, I’m astounded by every meticulous detail of the plot, how every character plays a key part and how every incident and every word spoken has an impact on the final outcome.
Just brilliant! 🤩 Oh, and don’t be fooled by what you see on social media 😜
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Angela Henry and Storm, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This is my second book by Angela Henry. A binge-worthy read with lies, secrets, & drama. A few decently shocking twists. A few I saw coming. Definitely recommend!

Her Pretty Lies by Angela Henry
***Spoiler alert *** Don’t read my whole review if you do not want spoilers, but just know that psychological thrillers are my very favorite type of genre to read and this book is definitely a must read. It was fast paced, it kept me guessing what was going to happen next and I did not want to put the book down. This was my first read of one of Angela’s books but I am already searching for more. I like her writing style.
The book starts off with Mac… Mackenzie being tricked into going into rehab.. ok this part I really didn’t understand… Mac supposedly visits a rehab place to check it out then when she is ready to leave she gets locked in… by her mother… I just don’t see someone who really needs rehab voluntarily going to look at a rehab place without “bells” going off in their head…. So rehab part of story good… find a different way to get her there…(again just my opinion).
Then introduction to Kendall… who just found out her grant has fallen through her next semester in college. Kendall has no money of her own and without the fellowship money she will have to withdraw from classes for the semester, plus she is going to be homeless… She meets Cal, but doesn’t know who he is til later… of course he ends up being the son of the deceased lady who was supposed to fund the fellowship.
Kendall unwillingly does some things to try to stay afloat trying to wait on the fellowship money to come through…
There is so much going on in this book from murders to lies to everything in between. Though I don’t find everything in this book perfect, I do highly recommend this book, it was a very enjoyable book to read… I did not want to put it down.
This was my first foray into this author's work, and I'm enamoured with her writing style. From the opening pages, I was utterly captivated, devouring the entire book in a single day. I became deeply invested in the protagonist, finding myself consistently surprised by the intricate plot twists. Each time I thought I'd unraveled the connections between characters, the story veered in a new direction, proving me wrong.
This book offers an engaging and suspenseful read, and I eagerly anticipate exploring more of the author's works. I wholeheartedly recommend diving into this gripping tale.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for providing this compelling read.
This was my second Angela Henry book and it was just as good as the first one. It was chock full of twists and turns. Basically the last quarter of the book. Some of the twists I could predict but the last one I definitely could not. There were parts that I wasn't fully loving it but overall I enjoyed the book! If you love a twisty mystery book this is for you!
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC. This is a good book for passing time. Its thrilling enough to keep you invested and has plenty of twists that make the end of the book fun. While I did not really care for the characters, it was entertaining enough and an adequate read.
A twisty and quick read with a good dose of family drama. The story is told from two different POVs, Kendall Good and Mackenzie Burk. They are two distinctive characters who attend the same school and have an interesting past. I'd place this one in the popcorn thriller category with a similar type of plot construction that you get in a Freida McFadden book. If you're looking for a fun read that isn't too noir, then this is the right thriller for you.
Kendall is having her hands-down, full-blown worst day ever!
She just lost the funding for her fellowship. This means…she can’t pay for grad school or her new apartment she was getting ready to move into. And the job she gave up has already been filled. Thinking things couldn’t get worse, poor Kendall catches her boyfriend cheating. Kendall, you officially win the prize.🏆
But wait a minute…maybe her luck is turning around! Mackenzie, a popular influencer offers her the opportunity of a lifetime. One she cannot turn down. But come on…there’s got to be a catch, right? Oh, you betcha’! Things are about to go from bad to worse for Kendall.
This was very much a slow burn until about 40% then it went “click” and everything took off at lightning speed (better late than never)😉
Kendall’s side of the story had me captivated. I liked her character and curious how she was going to navigate around the seemingly insurmountable bad luck that had swallowed her up.
Mackenzie’s character and story line unfortunately weren’t quite as clear, giving me a bit of trouble connecting with that side of the story.
Personal issue.
I’m no wallflower but…the word “bitch” was used 27 times. Since the book is only 288 pages that means approximately every ten pages someone was called or referred to as a bitch. 🙄
And the word “f**k” 29 times. I’m all for an author to add flavor, but do you see where I’m going with this?💁🏼♀️ It was just too much.
Perhaps I’m just not the right audience for this book.🤷🏻♀️
Still, it’s a quick read and many readers came away really enjoying it. So make sure to take a look at all the positive reviews too!

3,5/5
This book has lots of twists and turns!
Some are surprising. Some you see coming.
I got a little bored with the book half way through.
Kendall loses everything and things just keep getting worse and worse for her. There’s so many things from her childhood that come up. She was lied to by so many people.
The ending really saved the book. The twists and turns there were so good.
4.5/5⭐️
The book follows Kendall as she goes from having it all to being broke, homeless and desperate in a jiffy. This desperation then throws her into a deep web of duplicity, danger and drama.
The beginning read like a rom-com to me, girl in trouble and someone swoops in to save the day and I enjoyed the writing style of the Author quite a bit. But the plot thickens quickly. The suspense is gripping and is maintained throughout the book, keeping readers at the edge of their seats in anticipation.
And I have to say, the twists got me good. I did not see them coming at all. This book had me going back and re-reading the last few pages, making sure I got all the details right. It was a wild ride.
Overall, it is a must read thriller if you love college drama, deceit and lies.
I will be sure to pick up more books by the author soon.
I received an ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to Netgalley, the Author and the Publisher for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
HER PRETTY LIES kept me entertained. Filled with many surprises, I found it hard to put down! I highly recommend grabbing a copy.
I did debate not continuing to read this novel even though I was only a few chapters from finishing it.
To begin with it's interesting but then I felt that it was overly complex with the various characters involved and their ties.
Angela Henry has proved herself to be a five star thriller writer. I have always loved this genre and one of my top authors and Go2 authors is Frieda McFadden, however, Henry has just proven to me that she is supreme.
This book had me right to the end, the twists and twists in the twists and the final paragraph, WOW:
The plot is not slow nor fast, it's a good pace and keeps you hooked to every page as the story begins to unfold and even when it does, I still didn't guess who was behind the killing.
In fact the prologue already raised that bubble of excitement for a book you just know is going to be outstanding.
Kendall has just lost her fellowship and finds herself with nowhere to live, cash poor and pretty much out on her ass, then someone throws her a lifeline which she takes, she is desperate, she has no choice in exchange for doing some papers and getting her fellow student better grades. Only nothing is quite as it seems to be.
I love Henry's style, and how she flicks from singular POV to third party, in this book it works particularly well.
Henry is new to me as an author, however, having read this five star review, I will be reading more of her gripping, tense work.
