This book has plenty of twists and turns and is entertaining. Some twists you will see coming and others not so much. I am torn between three or four stars for this book but ultimately ended up giving it 3 stars because I felt it was a bit too unbelievable in parts. I was a bit confused at the beginning of the book as there are a lot of starts but once the book got going it was much easier to follow. I would definitely say this is more on the YA or New Adult level and I think more relatable to that age bracket as well with the influencer angle.
Overall good book and I did enjoy the read.

Angela Henry's 'Her Pretty Lies' is an enticing mystery/thriller that delves into the unraveling life of graduate student Kendall Good. As the story unfolds, Kendall's idyllic existence gradually crumbles, revealing a web of deception and hidden truths.
The novel begins with tantalizing backstory glimpses, subtly hinting at the secrets that will eventually consume Kendall. The relentless twists and turns keep readers on the edge of their seats, as Kendall's life spirals out of control. Initially portrayed as unlikeable, Kendall's transformation into a self-assured and assertive individual makes her increasingly relatable.
The complex relationship between Kendall and her mother adds a poignant layer to the narrative. Readers will find themselves invested in Kendall's quest to uncover the truth about her past and her family's secrets.
The interconnected characters and their secrets weave a complex tapestry of deception that keeps readers guessing until the very end. The novel's exploration of identity, family, and the consequences of hidden truths makes it a thought-provoking and ultimately rewarding experience.
Overall, 'Her Pretty Lies' is a gripping mystery thriller that will appeal to fans of psychological suspense and twisted tales of betrayal and redemption. While the occasional use of YA slang may be jarring at times, the novel's captivating plot and well-developed characters make it a worthwhile read. This was a solid 4 Stars read to me!
Angela Henry is absolutely amazing!! I read this book in one evening. While I thought it may have started slowly, the further I got the more I needed to get to the next page! Absolutely none of the explanations, right down to the last pages were what I was expecting. The relationships among the characters were built on expertly, the plot progressed perfectly and the resolutions were very satisfying. Definitely going to be in my 2024 top 10!
Her Pretty Lies by Angela Henry had so many twists and turns that it was hard to keep up with what was happening. What if you hit rock bottom and a stranger offered you a lifeline? But accepting it went against everything you stood for and could ruin your future if you got caught. Would you do it?
I could not put it down because there were some tense moments that I had to get through to see what would happen. The plot was intriguing, and the story held my interest.
A lot was going on between notes being sent, emails, things missing, academic deception, etc. I really didn't see the plot twist coming, and while it was a bit contrived, it more than made up for as more of the story unfolded. Whenever I thought I knew what would happen, another red herring or shocking revelation would be revealed.
The story shows how one decision can blow up into a huge mess. As stated, I kept thinking I knew what would happen, but then I would surprised at the next revelation, and it would throw my thoughts out the window!
There were a few times when I thought, "Who is this person the characters are seeing or talking about?!??"
I liked this book and this author's writing style. I would recommend Her Pretty Lies.

Really enjoyed this book. Got a bit lost at the beginning but soon after I couldn’t put it down! Lots of twists and turn all through it! Thanks Net Galley!
I was sucked in from the very start and could not put this book down. The story follows a college student who finds herself in a financial bind and gets an offer that feels almost too good to be true: take an online class for a famous social media star who also attends her college, and make sure she passes. In exchange, she'll get a fat wad of cash, and a free room in the star's posh apartment.
Fairly straightforward, right? WRONG. Almost immediately, things go absolutely sideways and devolve into false identities, secret stalkers, and even murder. You will not be able to tell who is lying about what for most of this book, but trying to figure it out is super addictive.
It was such a fun read, and every time I thought they'd unveiled the last twist, I was wrong.
Solid 4/5 stars. The only thing keeping it from being higher was that the sheer amount of twists and turns in the last 25% of the book had my head spinning almost too much. Thriller fans should not miss this one!
Thank you to Net Galley, the author and the publisher for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I want to say I LOVED THIS BOOK! I felt for Kendall, girl was going through it. I loved how the story all came together at the end! Lots of twist and turns and I loved that. This book kept me engaged that I was home feeling under the weather and read the whole thing in one day. I could not put it down. I would hope there will be a second book.
Kendall Good, an Ohio graduate student, sees her life fall apart in front of her. She learns her boyfriend of several years has been cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend, and when she leaves, this also leaves her homeless. But no worries, as she's received a fellowship to continue her studies and it will also cover her own apartment. She quit her job and spent her savings on a European trip to celebrate. But no, the fellowship falls through! So she's essentially homeless and penniless, and unable to cover her next semester's tuition.
Overhearing the news about the fellowship, the campus "it" girl reaches out to her with a proposition that isn't exactly ethical. And that's just the beginning of the drama!
This bounced around a bit at the beginning to where I wasn't tracking well with who was who/where. Once I got a better grip on that, I really had a hard time putting this down! 4.5 Stars rounded up.
Thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Angela Henry for the eARC.
Kendall is really having the worst luck. Losing her college fellowship, her boyfriend, the roof over her head and her job. Then she’s accused of the murder of the one person she thought might be helping her in a backhanded complicated way.
This book by Angela Henry is in the thriller genre but I found it confusing with way too many twists that weren’t necessary and didn’t make much sense. I often had to re-read whole sections because I was unsure whose pov I was reading. Probably not an author I’d read again.
2.5 stars rounded up to 3 (it was almost a DNF)
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
When I first started this book I wasn’t sure as it starts very choppy and confusing and I wasn’t really sure what was going on. But I am SO glad I stuck with it! It’s so well written and I was hooked! There are constant twists and turns. I kept thinking I had figured it out but I definitely hadn’t and the twists at the end had me SHOOK! Highly recommend 🫶🏻
TWISTY AF!
Kendall’s grad school funding falls through and she finds herself resorting to academic fraud to pay her tuition. Can Kendall pass herself off as influencer, MacKenzie? And can she keep the spiralling secrets under control?
I LOVED this! It was fresh and modern and the storyline had me absolutely gripped. It’s got action right from the start and I think I’ve got whiplash from all those twists!
I really got behind Kendall and felt like all the characters were well developed. I adored her relationship with Cal, and Mackenzie was likeable as well.
If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller, definitely give this a read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for my advanced copy.
There was a good amount of mystery in this one but it also felt like it was more of a YA book and it didn't quite hook me.
The bones of this book is good but it seemed like there was too much going on. Also at times, there was over-explanations or coincidences that led to more twists that did not necessarily have to be there for it to continue to be thrilling. It was just a lot of “but wait.. there’s more!” especially when it came to wrapping it up with Liv, Blessing, Mac, Kendall etc.
Thank you to the author, Storm Publishing + NetGalley for the DRC in exchange for my honest review.
There was just too much going on for me in this book. The first half started off ok but by the second half, I found it a struggle to continue reading. At times, I had to reread to try and take it in more. Sadly, just not for me.
Thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC.

I was trying to choose my next read, read the first chapter of this one, and I was hooked! While it was initially a little difficult to tell whose point of view I was reading from in the prologue and some interspersed chapters, I had faith it would become clear by the end.
Kendall has had the best and worst day of her life. She is waiting on her fellowship/scholarship to post for grad school when she receives word that it's not happening. Suddenly, her education and the apartment she rented are cruelly snatched away from her. When she goes home to sob on her boyfriend's shoulder, she finds him bent over another girl in their bed. Humiliated, homeless, and devoid of all hope, she goes to a coffee shop where she is approached by a fellow student and TikTok star who has an idea to get Kendall out of her jam. Wary but desperate, Kendall agrees.
She's going to wish she hadn't.
What kept me from giving a five star rating was being overwhelmed by multiple side plots that in some places started to convolute the main plot. While I definitely enjoy a twist or two, I think this book would have been a more "in your face" read if the author had kept to just a few side plots and had really woven them into the main plot without throwing multiple twists at the reader at the end.
Don't get me wrong...this book was my first by this author, and it was definitely enjoyable, so much so that I'm going to check out her backlist. Be prepared to have your spin while you try to keep up with everything! Many thanks to Storm Publishing for this early read. This title will publish May 3, 2024.
Kendall gives up her job that is funding her University course because she got a scholarship. Suddenly, the scholarship is cancelled, and she finds her boyfriend in bed with another woman, and is out on the street with no money.
What else could go wrong? She is approached by an influencer with a proposal which comes with money and a place to stay. While she isn't the most honest person, something tells her she is making a mistake. But she has no choice.
Then the influencer is murdered, and Kendall is the main suspect.
The book was fast paced and suspenseful.
However, most of the characters were liars, and the reader will find it difficult to sort the lies from the truth.
There are many plots in this book, and most are unbelievable. But entertaining. I didn't love the book, it was Okay in my opinion.
I would recommend this to a younger reader.
Thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.
Kendall is a grad student who finds herself if a tough stop when she throws all her eggs in a basket for a fellowship grant that falls through. She ends up meeting Mackenzie who makes her a proposition that could make or break everything for her. In these twist of events everyone has been lying about something.
The twists and turns in the book were great. I only predicted one and as the ending grew closer I didn’t see the rest of them coming. This was my first book by this author and it did not disappoint. I loved this quick read thriller.
Thank you to the author and publisher for this engulfing pre-released copy from NetGalley.

.The paramedics tell me I’m in shock as they load the body bag into the ambulance.
Only days ago, I had everything. A man I wanted to marry. A prestigious fellowship for graduate school. A perfect new apartment. I’m a psychology student. I should have known she was hiding something from the start…
Now I’m shivering under a foil blanket wondering how my life became a nightmare.
And when the paramedics check me over, it’s not concern I see on their faces. It’s fear.
They think I did this. They think I killed her…
I found the writing style a bit choppy. I definitely found the last quarter of the book to be too full of twists. 3 out of 5 ⭐️
My first book from this author, but not my last! The drama and secrets from Mac, Kendall, Savannah, the moms and dads are presented in a way that keeps you guessing and reading! I didn’t see any of it coming! Great read!
It seems that Kendall's world has fallen apart, she loses her scholarship for grad school the same day she finds her boyfriend in bed with another woman. Homeless and broke she is offered a sketchy deal by a popular influencer that could make at least some of her problems disappear. But is it worth the trouble it brings?
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This was my first Angela Henry read. I really ate this book up. It is a quick, binge read full of characters we don't know if we can trust and multiple twists. This book swaps between two POVs (Kendall and Mac) and you get a glimpse into Kendall's past here and there with a few diary entries from her teenage self. I did see one of the twists coming but there are so many more that it didn't bother me. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
