Kendal is living a great life with her boyfriend of three years and is hoping that he is now the one, but this all changes the day she arrives home and finds him in their bed with another woman. But Kindal is about to face more issues and life is about to get tough. Kendal has always had a difficult relationship with her mother and does not feel that moving back home is the answer to her problems but has no idea what to do next.

Mackenzie is an influencer and when Kendal losses her scholarship due to the benefactor no longer providing funds, she offers Kendal a room rent free if she assists her in passing her exams so that her parents will continue to fund her glamorous lifestyle.

Snappy quick chapters make this an easy read, it is quite over the top regarding the storyline but if you are just looking for a little escapism you may enjoy it. There are quite a few twists that move the story along, some you will see coming but I must admit I did not pick the one at the end. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book.

The story is pretty relatable to things going on in the world. The book was a pretty easy read, it drew me in pretty quickly. I felt bad for the Kendall (Main Character) because her life truly does fall apart in the first few pages. There were areas where I felt the story line tripped over itself because the Author was trying to go back and add details to make the story line work. I did enjoy the character development, there where quite a few characters in play but they were easy to get to know and easy to follow their part in the story. There were twist and turns along the way and as soon as I felt I know what was going on another twist popped up. I hope the Author will continue with a series so we can find out what happens with the story lines that were left open.

From the moment she discovers that her boyfriend is cheating on her with his ex everything seems to fall apart in Kendall's life. Jobless and homeless, she must make a series of decisions that end up making her a murder suspect.
Narrated from several POV's we can see the web of lies that all the characters, to a greater or lesser extent, maintain and that ultimately have led to the current situation.
The story immediately grabs you with a plot full of twists and turns that keep you constantly intrigued and guessing until the unsuspected ending.

Love, Lies and Murder
Her pretty Lies by Angela Henry is the story of Kendall Good who in a matter of hours loses her scholarship due to a will being contested by her husband. Then Kendall goes home to her boyfriend of three years and finds him in bed with his x girlfriend. Kendall's life has just been turned upside down and she now has nowhere to live, and Kendall had resigned her job at the library so when she went to try and get it back, she found they had a replaced her.
Kendall and her mum have to many issues so she cannot rely on her. Then when Kendall is sitting in the coffee shop trying to work out her next move a stranger comes in and offers her a place to live with a lucrative job with money as well as free board. Kendall instincts tell her not to do this, and how does this person no so much about her but before she realises she says yes.
From here Kendall ends up doing things she never would do by taking classes for her housemate who is an influencer or is she. Kendall also reunites with her dad after twelve years who has been in prison and when he informs Kendall the story's her mother told her over the last twelve years about him where a lie and he sent letters and birthday cards every year Kendall burst into tears. Kendall also reunites with Mackenzie who she met years ago at a private school and the girls became inseparable and best friend. Their lives once again from now on are intertwined and they find both of their life have been full of tragedies over the years.
This book is full of suspense with plenty of twists and turns A stirring and unusual tale of love, lies and murder. A thrilling adventure that I highly recommend to those who love fast-paced, action-packed novel.

This could have been in the top 5 books that I have read so far this year, I am already up to sixty books, considering I am a mystery aficionado, that is saying something. I hate profanity, it's classless, and it adds nothing, it kept me from really connecting to the main character, that and her sense of entitlement, why is she too good to work, putting myself through school was a pain, but I did it, and without debt, it can be done. However, the story is interesting, entertaining, pick an adjective and it won't be the right one, this story lives up to the blurbs, there are many twists in the road, be careful, or as Betty Davis said, "Buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride."
I highly recommend it. Thank you #Netgalley #StormPublishing #HerPrettyLies

I didn’t want to put this book down! At the start, I had no idea how all of these random people had anything to do with one another. It was exciting to know that I’d eventually find out, and Angela Henry did not disappoint!

I felt like the ending was a bit rushed, but otherwise it was a great read!

I finished this book in about four hours. It was gripping and fast paced and twists galore.

Kendall Good is down on her luck and then some. In a matter of hours she loses the scholarship that was going to set her for life, her boyfriend of three years, a place to live and her long standing job.
She can’t rely on her mother nor her friends, so when a stranger walks up to her and offers her a lucrative opportunity she takes it up even though her instincts are telling her not to.
What could go wrong?

There were sooooo many story lines and plot points and for most part of the book these are held tightly and easy to follow. Towards the end it got tricky and hard to keep track of. I had to read a few pages twice in order to fully understand what exactly was happening.
While that may be a turn off for some people, I find it fun. Especially when the author isn’t forcing the storyline to be extra cryptic.

Overall this is a great fast paced read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thankyou NetGalley and Storm Publishing for sending me this Advance readers copy

I got the chance to ARC read this from netgalley for an honest review… so let's get into it 😊

The couple of chapters in the book had me confused. I won’t lie it took me honestly a solid 30 minutes to go reread it just to make sure I wasn’t crazy… buttttt then it slid into a steady understanding by chapter four.

The storyline and the premise of the story is 100% why I requested to ARC read because I’ll tell you what it’s super enticing. Kendall was a grad student that had everything but then lost her chance to a scholarship making it impossible for her to figure out how to fund and continue with grad school. She also catches her boyfriend cheating on her and they break up in a crappy way. Then we’re introduced to an influencer that also goes to the college. She mentions a super shady opportunity that could easily cause expulsion.

Now here’s how I felt about the book:
• The way the storyline kept jumping around caused me to flip back and reread portions, even in the page breaks where the chapter wasn’t over.
• The twists were not awful by all means, but I did find a couple somewhat predictable. That isn’t a bad thing though. Even when a book is predictable it can still be super jaw dropping when you figure it out.
• I did love that the chapters weren’t super long, and it was a fast-paced book. Even though I went back a couple times to reread spots out of confusion I was able to jump right back in quickly.
• There were a few punctuation/grammatical errors nothing major. I noticed a couple portions that were questions that ended in a period. So nothing huge just needs a new run through.

I honestly enjoyed the characters. The secrets just everything about them was WOW. It made the storyline enjoyable and that was to me why it felt fast paced. If I had to compare the book it gave me “Pretty Little Liar” vibes except not in high school obv.

All in all, it was a great read. Just a few things I felt off that I mentioned but still a 3.5 rating in my book!

Thanks so much storm publishing!

This thriller was very different than anything else I’ve read before. I really loved the back forth POV between the characters and there were so many turns when I was like what is going???? Like I was so confused and there were so many breadcrumbs but I couldn’t have guessed what would happen. There were some details that I felt like weren’t completely necessary and therefore made things feel garbled when the explanation came. The big reveal also felt a tad rushed but overall I still really enjoyed it.

Loved this book....what a page-turner....It had me guessing until the very last chapter. If you want a read that will captivate you right up until the last chapter you will love this !!!!!!

A very twisty book, trust no one!

The body count is high, everyone has secrets and almost everyone is lying.

Even the 'happy' ending had a sense of foreboding.

Enjoyed this read. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book, this is my honest opinion.

Thank you Storm Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with an ebook version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I thought the plot of the book was interesting and had a lot of promise, but it didn’t quite live up to all my expectations. The book needs to be cleaned up some. The author switched back and forth between POVs, but doesn’t make this clear. At times you are questioning things and then it dawns on you that the POV switched, There is also several times where it changes from first to third person and vice versa,

This book will be dated very quickly because of its heavy emphasis on popular apps and the influencer lifestyle. The lingo used in this book also ensures that this will not be a hit in future years.

Despite all of that, I enjoyed the first 80% of the book. However, the ending had so many twists and turns that it came across as if the author couldn’t decide which ones to use and decided to just throw in everything for shock value. Instead of making my draw drop, it made me sigh and shake my head. This book proves that you actually can have too much of a good thing.

Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchance for my honest review.

I have mixed feelings about this book. The story pulled me in right from the start: a college student with secrets, diary entries, a famous influencer, a cute guy, I was hooked. But as it went on there were so many twists that it became difficult to suspend belief that much to follow along.

This was the first book I read by Angela Henry but it won't be my last, Her pretty lies was a fast paced, gripping, psychological thriller.

The start of the book had me hooked, I couldn't put it down. Every character had their own secrets and lies and I was eager to see how all their stories would entwine together.

Their stories all merge together in the last few chapters and it gets a bit confusing, there are so many twists and turns it was hard to keep up with at times. But the ending was amazing a great twist that was unpredictable.

Thank you to Netgallery, Angela Henry and storm publishing for this ARC.

This was my first time reading this author’s work. The book was just okay for me and I noticed a few errors and issues which I’ll mention here in a second.

The premise of the story really pulled me in. Kendall is a grad student who “had it all” and then lost it… her prestigious college fellowship was pulled out from under her, leaving her without the funds to continue grad school. She catches her boyfriend cheating and ends up single and without a place to live. Enter Mackenzie, a new friend who offers her a shady job and a place to live. But is Mackenzie, a popular Instagram influencer, all she says she is?

What I liked about this book… many twists and turns… just when you think you figured it out, another twist happens. It kept me interested throughout.

What didn’t work for me… the writing style jumped around a lot… one second she’s talking to one person, then suddenly she’s somewhere else without a page break or mention of moving to a new location. Also every character’s race was mentioned which felt a little unnecessary to me (a white guy, a light skinned brown girl, a black man… etc). I understand trying to be descriptive, but even passerby characters had their race mentioned which just seemed odd to me. There was a lot of dialogue that I felt wasn’t realistic or how people actually talk to each other in real life.

There were a few errors I noticed…
⚫️ slipping between first and third person writing styles for Kendall… on page 63 on the ebook it says “I took the time to truly look at the man in front of me. Instead of the jeans and wifebeater from the last time she’d seen him…” shouldn’t that say “the last time I’d seen him”?! as Kendall’s story is being told in first person.
⚫️ incorrect punctuation on page 32 of the ebook… “why are asking me all these questions when it’s obvious I need your help.” Should be a question mark instead of a period.
⚫️ page 50 of the ebook Kendall says the flavors “assaulted” her mouth then says it tastes wonderful. Isn’t an assault a negative thing?
⚫️ page 52 of the ebook Kendall is talking to Cal and says “what do you mean by your customers?” And he replies that he owns the bar. I reread the page and their conversation multiple times and he never says the term “my customers”. I guess we can assume more of their conversation happened off page but it clearly shows their banter back and forth and he never says the term “my customers”.
⚫️ use of words that don’t make sense or could have been phrased better… “this well done steak couldn’t be any doner”… “unfuckwithable” (huh?)… “what in the flip”… “you ask me she’s smelling herself”… “eyes framed by laughter lines” (just a personal thing here but wouldn’t just laugh lines sound better?)

All in all, the book was decent but I feel like it definitely needs a little cleaned up. It was just okay for me.

I posted my review on goodreads.

Her Pretty Lies was a page turner for me. I enjoyed reading this book! It had a who dun it main plot, intertwined with multiple twists. I was pleasantly surprised at how the book ended, as I usually figure out the mystery before the end of the book.

Her Pretty Lies is a drama filled twisty thriller. 4/5 stars.

Thank you to the author, Angela Henry, and the publisher, Storm Publishing, for the ARC copy I received from Net Galley.

Her Pretty Lies was full of twists and turns! Kendall and Mackenzie's lives are intertwined from the beginning until the end. However, Kendall’s life is full of tragedies while Mackenzie leads a life of luxury. The end of their stories was truly unexpected. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and could see Part 2 about Kendall and Mackenzie’s future. I would definitely read other books by Angela Henry.

Kendall is having a bad run of luck. She’s had her scholarship pulled through no fault of her own, and the wonderful man she’s just met turns out to be hiding something bad from his past. She finds herself doing things she would rather not, just to make ends meet and be able to continue her studies.

This book has all the ingredients for a great tale, but for me, it just missed the mark. It all seems a bit too contrived. I also found some of the speech grating. Having said that, it still provides a story with plenty of twists and turns, and I was certainly surprised at where it managed to go. I’m sure plenty of people will thoroughly enjoy it.

Whilst overall I enjoyed this book, I did feel that there was a little too much going on. There were so many twists and turns; however I felt that some of them were bordering on the unbelievable, particularly in light of what had already been uncovered. There was possibly a twist or two too far.

I felt some of the characters actions were odd and whilst the story had been crafted so that all of the characters and their backgrounds interlinked, overall it felt like the book was trying too hard to interweave all of characters and parts.
