Sadly, this book was not for me at all
It started incredibly great and as the chapters progressed, the story got incredibly worse I don’t understand why

Wish enjoyed this since the description drew me in 😭
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the arc 🫶🏻

I really liked how this book started out, and I loved the multiple-POV. But I wish it was made a bit clearer who was speaking when the multiple POV would shift. I also really liked the mystery, but I feel like the ending was so rushed that it soured my rating.

I was first so excited about this book - it was twisty and the plot moved really fast with an easy and somewhat funny read. Then the plot took a massive downward turn. After about half of the book - the plot really just becomes unbelievable with twists that don’t make any sense at all.

Twins separated at birth? Best friend murdering someone and going to jail? Multiple murders that seemingly had nothing to do with each other then magically were tied back to each other? And to top it all off - the author made up a sleeping medication - idk if this was a legit mess up or naming something that sounded like another drug?

Also - for all the truth revealing that happens in this book literally the main character never finds out who actually pushed her down the stairs?

Idk - it started out good, but skip this book. I’m just angry tbh. This is my first rating lower than a 2

1.5/5

A quick and easy read I read this in one sitting and found it hard to put down. Twists and turns to keep you hooked.

I enjoyed the initial mystery of whose voice you are hearing as they are fighting their admission to what comes across as either rehab or a mental health facility.
The story then jumps to the awful situation Kendall finds herself in, struggling to continue her studies as her scholarship falls through and driven to cheat the system on behalf of a social media influencer who needs the degree but does not want to study.
The twists just keep coming as Kendall get deeper and deeper into trouble making it a fast paced read you will want to finish in one sitting!

First, thank you to Angela Henry and Netgalley for this eARC for my honest review. The beginning of this book starts out building the character and setting up for what is to come.

Once I got half way through this book, it sucked me in and kept me wanting more from the characters and to know what happens. Mackenzie Burke or “Mac” may not be who she says she really is. The main character Kendall is low on money and sort of at rock bottom when her boyfriend is caught cheating on her with his ex girl friend. Mac over hears a conversation between Kendall and her best friend Liv saying she needs a place to live. Mac opens up her extra room at a big price, taking her classes for her in college. Begrudgingly, Kendall agrees, but not for long as the perfect lie and the even more perfect murder is about to take place.

The building of the twists in the beginning all played out really well in the end! Twist after twist (that made sense) were all answered!

Well done!

This book had so many twists and mind blowing moments! This was me 🫨 multiple times through out…I mean 🤯! Loved this book and enjoyed reading it. Very fast paced, I would’ve read it quicker but had other stuff going on! Will definitely be recommending. Thanks to NetGalley and Storm publishing for this advanced readers copy!

Excellent thriller with lots of twists. I really enjoyed this and will be reading Angela Henry's back catalogue after this!

Her Pretty Lies is a quick and dirty thriller that will suck you in into its world. I enjoyed Kendall and Mackenzie’s stories, though I wanted more about Mackenzie’s life. And her mum. And dad. Let's be real, I could have read an entire book about her past and her family.

You'll enjoy Her Pretty Lies if you like twisty thrillers about messy relationships, families and people. I had some of it figured out, but Angela Henry definitely tricked me with her 3rd act twists! I loved the ending of the book and wasn't expecting it after everything that had already happened (I know this sounds vague, but keeping it spoiler free!).

Thank you to Storm Publishing & NetGalley for the copy to read and review.

“Call my mom! She’ll tell you I don’t belong here!”
“Honey,” the nurse lifted her skirt and jammed the needle into the meat
of her upper thigh, “who do you think admitted you?”

Okay, so this book ensorcelled me from the very beginning, and what a ride this has been. I love how the characters are chosen and their respective backgrounds. The title keeps you guessing. The writing is not that exceptional, but in most of the thrillers, it does not matter much. The only issue, I had with this is that there were quite a few topics left unexplored, but if you disregard them, the book overall is perfect for a quick thriller read.

“But did I really believe it? Was it really my own fault?”

You often begin to wonder if some of these players are honest or deceitful, which exposes many twists and turns, secrets and lies, betrayal, manipulation, deception, and the abuse of power, wealth, and influence. The character of Kendall is so alluring, and it is so well written. Also, I wanted to know more about what happened with Cal and Kendall besides what was at the end. I do get that this was a mystery thriller genre, but I honestly felt like the romance part was not done great with the aspect of the story. Either, it should have been completed or just not been there at all.

“There’s something that happens to you when you’ve been living under someone’s thumb for so long and you finally find yourself with some freedom. You’ll do anything not to have to go back to that situation.”

There are dual povs, though majorly Kendall covers most of them. The other, Mackenzie or Mac seems I don't know how to put it, but the closest word is an understatement and would I have loved to get her side of the story fully. It is just a bit rushed as her side of the story comes almost at the end of the book.

“Dear Diary,
I know what really happened that night. My dad tried to kill me. I wish he
had.”

Unfortunately, this book did not work for me. I found the first part so confusing and really did not enjoy the plot or characters.

3.5 stars ✨
This was a veryyyy twisty book! There were a few things I would have liked to see or read in this book. Personal preference, but I would have loved if the chapters were broken down into smaller ones due to the different things happening in the book. (Plus I like small chapters). Also I wanted to know more about what happened with Cal and Kendall besides what was at the end. Lots of good twists though and I had to reread some things to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind (in a good way).
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

Popcorn thriller., fast paced, whodunit. Read Her Pretty Lies in one sitting while I was in a severe reading slump. There was a lot going on in this book - kind of reminded me of a Freida McFadden novel (and I love her books). The ending was slightly messy but wasn't a deal breaker.

I absolutely loved this book! It's a captivating story that follows Kendall as she navigates through some tough times and encounters Mac. The initial dynamic between Kendall and Mac was intriguing, and once I fully understood it, I found myself completely engrossed in the story. The unexpected twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, eagerly trying to predict what would happen next. The dual point of view added depth and complexity to the narrative, keeping me thoroughly engaged. The intricate interconnections within the plot were masterfully crafted, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cleverly woven elements. This book truly exceeded my expectations, and I wholeheartedly give it a glowing 5/5 rating!

A woman has called 911 and when they arrive the paramedics find a young woman covered with blood, bruises and shaking uncontrollably and then she starts telling her version of what happened When the police and medics come out of the house, their calm and sympathetic faces. are quickly changing to fear!

She should have listened to her instincts and never trusted the charming student whom everyone loved and wanted to live in her shoes. "I had everything I could have dreamed, a two year full paid tuition program for my last two years of graduate school, a boyfriend and a nice apartment. Within a 24hr. period I lost everything and I will now be homeless, my boyfriend dumped me and I will probably have to drop out of school."

"Just when I thought my life is in ruins, along comes an offer that I should resist but I know I won't say no. The dark, dangerous secrets and lies that I unknowingly walked into because I couldn't resist that offer where now I'm sitting on the.doorstep of a scene of horror that I never asked for or did I!"

This book was an entertaining, fun and a very twisted mystery/thriller. The story was full of many surprises and a couple of shocks as well, plus the novel was very well-written and a real page turner where I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. The story seems a little slow while enjoyable at first but when story picks up it becomes a non-stop twist and turn ride that I didn't want to come to an end. I'm looking forward to reading many more of Angela Henry's books in the future!

I want to thank the publisher "Storm Publishing" and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this terrific book and any thoughts or opinions expressed are unbiased and mine alone!

I have given a rating of 4 MURDEROUS AND DECEITFUL 🌟🌟🌟🌟 STARS!!
