Kendall is one of the most unlucky people I’ve ever read about. This story starts off with her finding out this incredible scholarship she was supposed to receive is no longer available to her then going home to her boyfriend cheating on her with his ex, I kept feeling worse and worse for her with everything that happened.
Without giving anything away, she’s given an opportunity to make money while waiting for her scholarship/grant to be reinstated. All of the different characters ended up being connected in different ways that was important to the story line. The last 3 or 4 chapters saved this story for me. It was a little slow at first, but really enjoyed it once I got in to it.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for giving me an ARC for Her Pretty Lies by Angela Henry!
Thank you Netgalley & Storm Publishing for an eARC of this book. I was surprised by the amount of twists & lies. Nothing is what it seems, everyone has their own secrets and the plot to me, was intricately weaved.
The ending was so-so for me, it didn’t wowed me but I think it was still a quick and easy read psychological thriller.
Wow this book is rollercoaster with so many twists and turns. I had no idea where the story was going to end at 70% I thought I know how it was going to end but actually was totally wrong.
Kendall is a grad student who has just lost her scholarship and has just walked in on her boyfriend with someone else. Her life has literally been turned upside down.
Highly recommend this book as a fast paced read.
Thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and Angela Henry for providing me with a complimentary ARC to review!
Angela Henry takes readers on a wild ride of unexpected twists and turns. Set against the backdrop of shattered plans and desperate circumstances, protagonist Kendall's journey from ground zero to an unforeseen predicament challenges the notion of just how far desperate people will go.
At around 80%, you might think you have it all figured out, but at 85%, prepare for a curveball that will have you questioning everything. Despite moments of doubt, sticking with the story proves rewarding as the author expertly ties up loose ends with a satisfying conclusion.
The narrative's relentless twists might leave you with literary whiplash, but they also showcase Henry's skill in crafting a gripping plot. While some twists may feel excessive, requiring a second glance to ensure comprehension, the overall experience remains thoroughly enjoyable.
"Her Pretty Lie" solidifies Angela Henry as a master of suspenseful storytelling, leaving readers eager for more. Whether you're a fan of thrillers or simply seeking an engaging read, this book comes highly recommended. Thank you to Netgalley & Storm Publishing for allowing me early access!
First and foremost, let's take a minute to admire this cover.
Now, I need to let you know, this cover does not even come close to what is inside, and that's a fact!
This book is straight up mind-blowing and I was completely consumed from start to finish!
That sure was a doozy! Lies, secrets, and bodies, OH MY!!!
Check out this teaser:
The paramedics tell me I’m in shock as they load the body bag into the ambulance.
Only days ago, I had everything. A man I wanted to marry. A prestigious fellowship for graduate school. A perfect new apartment. I’m a psychology student. I should have known she was hiding something from the start…
Now I’m shivering under a foil blanket wondering how my life became a nightmare.
And when the paramedics check me over, it’s not concern I see on their faces. It’s fear.
They think I did this. They think I killed her…
Her Pretty Lies by Angela Henry is a light read but one that whips the reader around like a drifting championship, high octane twists and turns and if you blink, you will miss it!
This thriller is told from dual POV's and as such, the plot twists and combines like strands of DNA, chromosomes linking and twisting to make a cohesive whole.
Kendall has her life mapped out, almost perfect. A highly sought after scholarship at an amazing school, a relationship, everything, but then all the dominoes start to tumble and Kendall is left destitute and a sespected murderer
The storyline is original and due to the extensive use of plot twists, kept me hooked in as I needed to keep turning the pages. I couldn't stop at any point because then I would lose concentration and for that, this is a solid five stars. Her Pretty Lies kept me utterly engrossed and if I cannot guess the outcome of a plot, then the rating is even more deserved.
Thank you to Netgalley, Storm Publishing and the author Angela Henry for this fantastic ARC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own
Her Pretty Lies had me hooked from the start his book is dual POV/timeframe. It was full of twiists. loved it all.
thanks netgalley and publisher. all thoughts and opinions are my own and arent influenced by anyone else
This was such a fun book.
I was intrigued by the title at first glance. Then when I started it, it pulled me in. I was so involved in the storyline and all the characters that I started making my own character map to figure out how each character fit in and knew each other. I loved how detailed everything was but it was woven together beautifully.
That last plot twist had me floored. But, so much so that I hope there is a sequel.
This was my first book by this author and the first thing I did was look up to see what other books she wrote so that I could read more.
Kendall is driving the struggle bus. Life is expensive, her boyfriend is not loyal, and she is really struggling with affording life when she applies for a college scholarship. Life seems to take a turn when she is granted the scholarship. To her dismay, this happiness is short lived when she finds out that the benefactor has passed, and she will not be able to receive the scholarship.
Enter Mackenzie, a hip fashion blogger who is in desperate need of passing her class. Both desperate, Kendall and Mackenzie become friends and both benefit from the relationship as Kendall has a roof over her head and some cash in her pocket, and Mackenzie has someone passing her classes for her. As the story goes on things take a wild turn and the twists just keep coming.
This book had so many twists and turns some were predictable, but the storyline was enjoyable. I think I have permanent whiplash. The beginning was kind of slow for me and it took a bit to get to the excitement, but once it got started, boy what a ride.
Thank you. Angela Henry, Net Galley, and Storm Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book and how fast paced it was. An easy and page turner read! There are many twists throughout this book, and I loved that it kept me wondering what was going to happen next. The story and the characters were great. It always seemed like they were hiding something. I highly recommend this book if you like to keep wondering and stay on the edge of your seat!

Wow! I was hooked from the start with this book!
Thank you @stormbooks_co, @netgalley & @angelahenry_author for this amazing copy!
Her Pretty Lies hooks you from the start with a pretty dramatic opening scene and then you go back through the timeline to try and figure out what led to that happening. This book is dual POV/timeframe. I honestly loved every part and trying to figure out who all was connected! I couldn’t tell if it was the ex, the exs ex, the popular one, the popular ones family, the new boo… who knew! It was twisty and you were trying to figure out multiple things. I loved the entire development for the story.
The only reason this book didn’t get 5 stars from me was a personal preference. When I read thrillers, I prefer there to be more clues before hand and then when something happens and the main character is trying to solve it, you can think back to that clue.
Instead with this thriller, I felt sometimes the thing would happen & then the main character would give us a reason for why it was relevant. I would rather be the one figuring out why it was relevant.
Overall, great book and I would recommend!
✨Small Spoiler✨
I also don’t feel that bad for Alayna. Maybe I should. 😂 Maybe I’m a horrible person.

3.5 stars for this thriller.
The story was intriguing enough.
The drama that played out wasn't what I expected, so not super predictable.
The characters were a bit dry for me. I didn't feel a like or a connection to any of them.
All in all, it kept me entertained, but it isn't high on my list of recommendations.
I will check out Henry's other works of fiction though.

REVIEW
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I requested this book because I liked the synopsis. But, when I started, I didn't really see what I read in the synopsis. But, I continued because the book was engaging from me, and I figured the author was building up to the huge issue, and I was not disappointed. This book had a lot of secrets, and it was a delight and a huge surprise discovering them.

The book started with the FMC, Kendall's desperation in finding where to live and how to continue her postgraduate degree. I was so not prepared for the curveball. I was also very curious at the other POV because I didn't know whose it was.

This book was really good and it was exciting to uncover secrets about Kendall, Mack and the crime that took place. You should definitely read this book

I thought this book was ok, but it didn't fully peak my interest. I will give the audiobook a shot of course though at a later date. I think it could've been that I was accepted for this book pretty close to the pub date, which made me feel pressured to read it and rate it very fast. However, I didn't hate this book either.

Her Pretty Lies by Angela Henry tosses us into the chaotic life of a grad student named Kendall: she’s broke AF, her fellowship is in limbo, and her love life is a bad romance. Ant that’s before we get to her controlling mother. Kendall’s only confidant is her diary, but even that is trouble. Out of nowhere, she gets a risky offer from Mackenzie, a mysterious social media influencer. This short-term gain is bound to be a long-term loss, as Mac leads Kendell into a whole world of deception and tricks.
The early pacing might seem slow for some, but the pace picks up, pulling us into a whirlwind of psychological drama and surprises. Angela's writing style is raw, real, and snarky, reflecting the chaos of the characters' lives. All of this leads to a third act that throws a barrage of curveballs at us—leaving no time to catch our breaths. Her Pretty Lies doesn't rush the ending; it unravels with the intensity that makes thrillers gripping—delivering an ending that blends the highs of a psychological thriller with the unpredictable twists of human nature.
I can't recommend this book highly enough, It is definitely one of my top thrillers of the year and I think it will be one of yours too. The story is full of suspense, intrigue, and complex characters making a story that keeps you guessing until the very end.
This book was crazy but in the best way possible!
It was so fast and easy to read, if you want a small thriller but with a lot of emotions and plot twists that you weren’t expecting this book is perfect for you.
The twists were so good, I really enjoyed reading this book and usually I’m not the biggest fan of thrillers. I wasn’t expecting to be so good, THE END WOW wasn’t expecting something like that (you can see I wasn’t expecting anything, I had my mouth open the entire book to be honest)
The book is already out so if you want you can read it!
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC!
If you enjoy a quick thriller with lots going on then you will enjoy this book. There were so many twists, especially at the end of the book, it felt like being peppered with them. There were even some I didn’t see coming. Some may find parts far fetched but if you don’t mind that then this is a book for you. Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for letting me read and review this book. 3.5 ⭐️
This book was a rollercoaster! I feel like Angela Henry is going to be an auto buy author for me in the future. This felt like a medium paced thriller for me and I really enjoyed it! I felt for the MC, Kendall immediately. Her life has been rough from the start.
I really enjoy books with diary entries for some reason, so that was a bonus for me with this book! Certain parts of this book I was holding my breath and in the next moment I was so angry and wanted to throw my kindle, but I refrained! If you enjoy thrillers, I highly recommend this one! I felt like I had whiplash at the end of it! Awesome!
Thank you netgalley and Storm Publishing for the advanced copy!
Wow! This book was full of twists and turns. Some were completely unexpected, while others were predictable. The predictable twists didn't take away from me enjoying the story. This story is told from dual POVs, and I was so curious to know how everything fit together and who to trust. I was thoroughly entertained the whole ride, and the ending caught me off guard. This book was definitely a page turner that I easily binged.
