The tension was on point and I enjoyed the side characters as well. I thought it moved a bit slow and I also wanted them to talk about why they stopped talking when they were kids
This was book was every bit gorgeous and sweet. The small town vibes were so cosy and the characters were an absolute delight. I really enjoyed myself with this one and could definitely see myself reaching for another of Karmen's stories.
let me start by saying, this book on paper had one thing I have wanted to read more of - Sapphic rep, but things that typically haven't worked for me (American small town setting, sports) but I absolutely loved this! Friends to enemies to lovers was just absolutely fantastic. A slow burn of the romance I could feel the tension building and the spice was good, it wasn't the hottest spice I have read but it was great for my level! The only thing I think was it seemed to finish so suddenly and I wanted more from the bowling team girls, but I cant wait to read book two! If you are a fan of Tania Hibberts brown sisters I think you will LOVE this!
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this lovely book
when ava knocked on the door of the classroom opposite her to say hello to the new teacher she wasnt expecting to come face to face with grace. ava walked off in a daze....
ava and grace had been friends at school themselves and bowling buddies but things went astray and now they were nothing to each other apart from rivals who didnt like each other...
grace had been hoping for a better start with ava.... and when she heard that ava had been trying to start a bowling club in school she went right to the head and hoped he would agree.. though she hadnt quite realised he would announce it at the teachers meeting and that it was grace idea when she had tried to make it work with ava as the lead...
but as time went on and the bowling team started to come together grace could only hope that the spark she thought she saw with ava would land... only time would tell
a lovely story with hints of betrayal and rivalry cant wait to read more from this series
4.5 stars

this book was so sweet! i loved the small town vibes and the school setting, ava and grace had such good chemistry, and the cast of additional characters really helped to flesh out the story and make it more engaging and realistic. the pacing of the book's final third was a bit off though, so i think if it had been longer, the end would have felt less rushed and had more room to breathe.
overall definitely recommend though, and i love having small town romances with a Black lesbian couple that don't revolve around homophobia or racism.
This story is an enemies to lovers, forced-proximity, second chance romance. I loved the small town setting and two main characters were actually teachers; I found their relationships with their students very endearing. Coming from a teaching background myself I really enjoyed.
There was some spice in this but not a lot so if you're looking for a cute, slow burn, slightly spicy romance then this one is definitely for you!

The only thing I didn't like about this story was that it wasn't really explained in much detail why they split up in the first place. There is potential for another book though either further with this relationship or the friends of the main characters and I would be all here for it.
The 7-10 Split by Karmen Lee
Rating: 3/5
Tropes: Rivals to lovers, second chances, small town, and workplace romance.
The 7-10 Split follows Ava, an English teacher, and Grace, the new AP teacher, both of whom were previously college friends, but fell out.
This quick sapphic romance tells a story of second chances. Although the book felt a bit rushed and I was left wanting a bit more of explanation as to what led to their breakup of friendship to begin with, it was still undeniably cosy and cute.
If you wanting a quick and fun read sapphic read, then this one is for you.
