Fake flame 🔥
I absolutely loved how this book started off. Eva the FMC is having trouble with her ex leaving her alone and she’s threatening him with a flame thrower when the fire department show up. Sean is the firefighter that talks to Eva about what’s happening and soon finds out what is going on. To get her ex off her back they decide to fake date. I love a fake dating trope and this one was short and sweet. This is an age gap but she’s older, I’ve never read a reverse age gap before but loved it. He falls first. FireFighter MMC and teacher FMC. Dual POV. Just a cute, easy read romance I enjoyed it. 🌟🌟🌟
Eva is having issues with an ex, issues so bad she threatens to set a flame thrower on him. Sean is a firefighter, sent to diffuse the situation, and also beginning to dip his toe into the world of romance books. When he sees Eva’s predicament, he offers to be her fake boyfriend, and well, sparks fly!
‘Fake Flame’ was an insta-love fake dating romance, with actual grown-up characters who pretty much were able to communicate and then resolve issues. It constantly goes back and forth between the two povs, so you’re never in the dark in terms of what each character is thinking.
There’s also two fantastic dogs and a plethora of fab side characters.
I also wish Eva had been a professor at my uni and I could’ve studied pop culture - what a dream!
Thank you NetGalley and Mills and Boon for the ARC.
As a Chicago Fire & 9-1-1 girlie, this was the most perfect read for myself! I absolutely loved the relationship between Eva and Sean, it was all extremely sweet and romantic, fake or not. I have never read anything from Adele before, however her writing was so enjoyable. I'm not the quickest reader when it comes to third person, but the way Adele lays it out, I had no issues and found it very easy to be able to know which point of view I was reading from throughout. This book had the perfect amount of spice and held a beautiful story that I couldn't stop swooning over.
Oh this book was just everything I needed!
The chemistry between the two main characters Sean (swoony firefighter) and Eva (a college professor) was sizzling and I genuinely loved their story. The writing style was so easy and captured me from the first page - I devoured this in a day!
This it's the first book I've read by Adele Buck, but you can bet I'm going to search out and read her other offerings!
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for this advance copy.
In LOVE with this book the the characters. Steamy fireman Sean is going to be up everyone's street. Not only does he sound dishy and amazing in the bedroom but he is so kind thinking of others before himself AND he reads! Perfect combo for a book. Will definitely be reading more form this author!
Love, love, Loved this book. It is jam packed with extremely sizzling hot romance. The characters where perfect and I did not want this book to end! I will be sure to read more from this author in the future as I absolutely adore her style of writing.
For all my Chicago Fire, 9-1-1 and Station 19 girlies, this is for you. What a cute, sweet romance. I really enjoyed the characters, while they were a little surface level, Sean and Eva had good chemistry. The fake dating plot was well written and I really enjoyed the focus on later in life romance. If you want an entertaining and heartwarming read, look no further!
I really enjoyed this little book, it’s the prefect sweet, light-hearted. It’s the perfect spring romance. Also, the cover is gorgeous and would look so good on your shelf 😉 Eva and Sean were so good together. Two emotionally intelligent characters with great communication and amazing chemistry. I was hooked from the beginning.
Their meet-cute is iconic for sure: prim but feisty English college professor with a makeshift flamethrower meets the 6’3 hunky fire fighter and sparks fly, literally 😄
When Eva’s sleazy ex boyfriend is not willing to take no for an answer, Sean and Eva come up with a plan to show everyone that she can and will do better than him. The line between fake and keeps blurring, daring them to take the biggest risk of all…
Tropes:
* fake dating
* age gap but she’s older (41-36)
* self-defence classes
* 6’3 cinnamon roll mmc
* firefighter mmc + teacher fmc
* “put your hands on the headboard” and “good girl”
* third act breakup for a good reason and handled with maturity
*I’d like to thank NetGalley, Adele Buck and Mills & Boon | Afterglow Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I'm not really sure how I feel about this book.
There was A LOT happening all in one go.
I liked the characters individually but I didn't feel any chemistry between them.
It was a fast paced book and wasn't a bad read, I just wasn't as in to it as some books I've read this year. It seemed to take a lot of usual "problems" that happen in romcoms and use them all for one book.
That being said, it was a cute book and easy to read. I would try this author again.
Tropes:
• Fake dating
• He falls first
• Older woman, younger man (it's only 5 years but it's still relevant to the story)
• Cinnamon roll MMC
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
I enjoyed reading Eva and Sean story which is different for me as I don't really read reverse age gap but thankfully it didn't put me off.
I struggled getting through the start of the book but thankfully after a break I got into it, Sean's character is probably what makes this whole book he huge teddy bear they way he wants to look after and protect Eva was too cute!
Overall it was a quick easy and enjoyable read
Thank you Mills & Boon for the eARC copy of Fake flame via netgalley
I received an ARC from NetGalley and afterglow in return from an honest review.
I really enjoyed the story of Sean the firefighter and Eva the English professor as they made their way through a fake relationship to real love.
I could’ve done without the ex-boyfriend /stalker plotline, which to my mind had added nothing to the story after initial inciting incident which prompted the fake relationship in the first place..
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but I will look out for more as I enjoyed her style.
