This is an accomplished debut novel about a French news agency striving to provide verified international news stories before any of their competitors. The author, Michael Cary Anders, has worked as a journalist for more than twenty years and his novel is clearly based on personal experiences in a real life news agency.
The drama comes when management proposes a restructuring of the company which would cause a third of the work force to lose their jobs. There's a strike, union ballot, behind the scenes government negotiations and a clash of personalities stretching right across the world.
The novel is set about fifteen years ago and has a backdrop of world politics, attempted military coups, contagious diseases and natural disasters. This is a thinking person's novel with well-rounded characters and believable plotting.
