A fascinating look into the secret world of the mafia.

A little confusing at times as timelines skip forward and back at times but enjoyable

This is very much an overview of over 100 years of Mafia related activity, mostly involving killing. I find the Mafia fascinating as an organisation and they appear to wield a lot of power and control worldwide. They’ve been implicated in control of unions, liquor, arms and munitions, deaths of presidents, Hollywood films, gambling and much, much more.

This is not so much a history of the Mafia, more an exploration of specific cases, mostly unfamiliar. There are a few people I recognise, but the cases were generally, to me, unknown. It’s packed with detail and I would imagine the research has been meticulous. If you’re looking for a very readable ( or listenable) account of the wide ranging nefarious activities of the Mafia over the last century ir so, this title gives a real feel for how the organisation operates. It’s quite frightening, at times, to reflect on their potential influence and I’m confident much of it remains in the present day. An enjoyable book, well narrated and I enjoyed it.

This is very much exactly what it says it is. The book covers 100 murders undertaken by the mafia (both of mafiosi and others) and gives a small amount of information about the reasons for and the aftermath of each one. There were some here that I knew about - Bugsy Siegel, Dutch Schultz etc. but many of those included were completely new to me, which I appreciated. Overall, a fun and interesting read.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.
