This is my first exposure to these authors and I was not disappointed. Mitchell and Carter have delivered a fast paced and deliciously wicked tale. The characters are well rounded and come across as believable, whether you love them or hate them. This provocative, somewhat dark and twisted story grabs you from the first page and keeps you guessing until the very end where the authors insert a deliciously wicked twist.

I was initially very interested in reading this book. The synopsis drew me in, and the prologue was intriguing. However I had difficulty getting into the story. The pacing was slow, and I often found it hard to follow. I also had trouble connecting with the main character, and the plot seemed too familiar with other stories involving schools or wealthy settings. There were a few good twists, but overall, this book was not for me. The Narrator was great though

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was great. The book had such an interesting synopsis but it was pretty slow going and I had a hard time maintaining interest. I DNF at 40%. I’m sure this will be a favorite for some but it wasn’t the book for me.

Publisher's summary
What really happened to Sara-Jane?
It’s been fifteen years since Gem’s eight-year-old daughter Sara-Jane went missing, snatched with her best friend Abby right outside their school. A frantic search united the community at first, but after Abby was found and brought home, single mother Gem’s dogged persistence only led to accusations that she was stirring up class tensions. Even that she was somehow involved.
When Gem hears that human remains have been unearthed in the school’s chapel, she casts aside the new life she’s carefully built around herself and returns to the community that closed ranks against her all those years ago. Someone there knows something, she’s sure of it. And when Sara-Jane’s belongings start appearing on her doorstep, Gem knows she’s getting close—dangerously close—to the truth.
One thing’s for certain: it’s not just the remains in the chapel that have lain hidden for years. Can Gem unravel the dark secrets that might lead to Sara-Jane? Or has blind hope lured her into a web she’ll never escape?

Got all the way through to 60% of this one before I stopped and DNF. I struggled with it from the start as the story didn't seem all that engaging.

Thank you to Brilliance Publishing for the audio ARC.

This is a twisted tale of two school girls who have gone missing from the perspective of a mom trying to solve the cold case. This book was just ok for me. It wasn't bad, but also didn't keep me super interested in the suspense. The audio version was great. The narrator was pleasant, enjoyable to listen to, and easy to follow along.

I am a sucker for a wallop of a twist, and the final twist in Girl, Missing was just that!

Fifteen years ago, Gem's 8 year old daughter, Sara-Jane and her best friend Abby were abducted. When Gem hears that human remains have been found in the chapel, Gem leaves her new life to return to the town that took everything from her. As she once again tries to uncover what happened to her daughter all those years ago, Sara-Jane's belongings start showing up on Gem's doorstep, leading Gem to realize that she is dangerously close to finding out what really happened.

This book did not grab me from the beginning. It was a bit of a slow burn and I wasn't feeling it. I almost DNFed it, but I'm glad that I didn't. Once the twists started coming, they didn't stop! While parts of the story felt unbelievable, I enjoyed how it all came together.

Thank you NetGalley, Brilliance Audio and the authors for the advance audio of this book for an honest review.

I wasn’t able to get into this story. I struggled to connect with the MC. I think I may have also read too many stories like this one where a school or other rich entity is involved. I wanted to like this.
