Almost twenty years after writing her first song, Taylor made history as the first artist to hold all top-ten spots on the biggest US music chart.”
I am not a Swiftie and haven’t followed her career, but as with Elvis and the Beatles, it would be hard to miss reports of her performances and whereabouts. She grew up on a Christmas tree farm with music-loving parents who named her after someone of whom I have long been a fan, James Taylor. I didn’t know that. See how I learn things from these children’s books?
My Goodreads review includes an illustration with a quote as the caption:
“She believed in unicorns and fairy tales, but most of all, she believed in the power of songs to tell stories and change the world.”
Her grandmother was an opera singer, and when her dad took her to a country music concert, she felt the power of the singer sharing her feelings in song. So off they went, with Taylor dragging her parents to every festival and show she could find.
She took lessons, loved performing, and was quick to hop on a stage for karaoke. She loved it all. Unfortunately, where she lived in Pennsylvania, kids didn’t like her kind of music.
My Goodreads review includes an illustration with a quote as the caption:
“Yet, school was a lonely place for Taylor. Most students didn’t think country music was cool, and a few of them made fun of her cowboy boots. But even though people weren’t always there for her, music was, and she kept pursuing her dream.”
That would be hard for any schoolgirl and would have crushed most, I think. But she took a demo tape of songs she’d covered to Nashville when she was only eleven. Great enterprising spirit, but it would have been lost in the piles of demos.
It was time to do her own thing – dream, write, and sing her own songs her own way.
My Goodreads review includes an illustration with a quote as the caption:
“After being spotted at one of her gigs, Taylor recorded her first album for a record label. She became the youngest person ever to write and perform a number-one country song. It was honest, smart, and funny. Everyone loved it!”
Her second album, ‘Fearless’, won four Grammys when she was only twenty. Amazing!
My Goodreads review includes an illustration with a quote as the caption:
“Her journey to becoming a megastar had just begun!”
She was growing up along with her young fans, who began following her as Swifties.
My Goodreads review includes an illustration with a quote as the caption:
“She loved to include hidden messages for them in her lyrics and music videos.”
Before she even released her fifth album ‘1989’, she began letting fans preview it at her home.
My Goodreads review includes an illustration with a quote as the caption:
“…she invited groups of eighty-nine of them to listen to it and eat cookies at her house.”
She grew up! She began making music in many different styles, touring the stages of the world, and campaigning for different causes.
My Goodreads review includes an illustration with a quote as the caption:
“And Taylor, the little girl who believed in fairy tales, keeps achieving even her wildest dreams! She is one of the greatest artists of her generation and a friend to millions of fans who feel her music tells the story of their own lives.”
She seems to be that musical phenomenon, a genuinely nice girl, full of talent and compassion, but who refuses to be pushed around. The bio at the end tells about when the masters of her music were sold (without her permission), she re-recorded all of the albums and added some new ones. Well done, I say.
I particularly like this Little People BIG DREAMS book because the illustrations actually resemble the artist. I’m not a fan of the blocky cartoons of famous people that aren’t recognisable. And of course it’s nice to see an “uncool” girl, who seems like a genuinely nice, caring person, rise to the top. We could use more like her.
Thanks to #NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for a copy of #TaylorSwift for a review which includes a few of the illustrations.
This is a great introduction to Taylor Swift's life, from a little child to the present-day icon that she is, highlighting her creativity, determination, and achievements, but even more so focuses Taylor’s incredible life around her kindness to others.
These illustrations are beautiful.
Taylor Swift is a role model for young people, and I think that is truly reflected in this book.
Well this book is an absolute delight! I am a massive fan of the Little Peopl , Big Dreams books. I think they are wonderful for children to learn about some amazing and inspirational people.
The fact that there is now a Taylor Swift book is fantastic. The book it’s beautifully illustrated and the story of Taylor growing up and her rise to fame is tailored so well to both young and old Swifties. I loved it as a 40 year old and my 8 year old daughter thought this was the best book ever!
If you (or your little person) are Taylor Swift fans I cannot recommend this enough. It makes the perfect gift, and it’s a lovely piece of memorabilia.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I adore Taylor Swift and love that there is "Taylor Tots" (as they are called in the fandom) out there who now have books for them to learn about Taylor. This is a great 'little' book about Ms. Swift and showcasing how she was once a young girl with a big dream.
I thought it was mostly well-written for the intended age group, however, it feels as though there are pages missing. I think there could be a little more added about her friendships, her philanthropy etc. are some good things to share as well.
I do recommend if you are looking and already have the LGB on the market!
Another great Little People Big Dreams book! I love that they are writing books on people who are relative right now as well as historical people. It’s great for kids (and parents!) to know about people and how they contribute to our world while that are alive.
I’m not of Taylor Swift, maybe a little when she was singing country, but it’s fun to learn where she came from and how’s she’s made it big.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
This book is made for all ages, especially the swifties! I loved seeing the art on every page it tells Taylor's story so perfectly through words kids can understand. The story also flowed well through Taylor's timeline of events and gave one in the back which is helpful! It's so beautiful and I definitely can't wait to own this book and add it to my swiftie collection! Thank you so much for the advance readers copy!
This book was so, so cute and unexpected!!!!
I loved every single thing - I read it with my nephew and I loved every single thing about it.
Please read this - it's perfect to child, adults and any taylor swift fan!
How great that there is a Taylor Swift Version of Little People Big Dreams. This is such a cute book, perfect for all parents of little Swifties or Swifties who are parents!
Such a cute read! This was perfect for my 5 year old who is a total Swiftie! I thought that this was a good summary of Taylor’s accomplishments and was an empowering story for young kids to learn about her achievements!

Taylor Swift - Little People Big Dreams
A fabulous addition to the LPBD family 💕
This one is going to be a huge hit in our little library at school 🤩
Calling all Swifties and Little People Big Dreams fans
What a fantastic book! It offers a great look into Taylor’s background, her childhood and what prompted her love of music. It explains how she felt unpopular at school and as though she didn’t fit in, and sends the important message that she stayed true to herself, so vital that our young people see that.
I love that it shows how kind and giving she still is towards others - another important message.
Beautifully written and gorgeously written this isn’t just for the Swifties. The messages in it are so important - I’ll be getting a copy for my classroom too.
This is such a great and timely addition to the “Little People, Big Dreams” series. Almost everyone has heard of Taylor Swift, but this story is full of lesser-known details that make up Taylor’s musical journey- she grew up on a Christmas tree farm, her grandmother was an opera singer, and she was the youngest person ever to write and preform a number-one country song. It is a well-rounded depiction of Taylor, highlighting her life outside of music too. I especially liked the focus on her advocacy work and devotion to her fans. “Swifties” young and old will love the colorful illustrations and this concise, but rich, depiction of Taylor’s life so far.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the opportutinty to read this book in exchange for my honest thoughts!
As a huge Swiftie, I LOVED this wee book. It was colourful, easy to read and I loved the timeline at the end. Will definitely buy for my three year old Swiftie daughter
Swifties out there probably already know all the information in this book. Still, for a young child who is just starting to follow Taylor, this beautifully completed book focuses more on her early life than her current life. Another great book by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara for the Little People, Big Dreams series.
This is an adorable picture biography for young readers. My fourth and fifth graders may find it baby-ish, but I know it will generate much interest. Nothing revolutionary about this book, but it fully delivers on its promise. I am ordering one for my elementary school!
Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books and Net Galley, for the eARC!
Another great book in this wonderful series (Little People, BIG DREAMS). It tells the story of Swift's beginning & continued success so that little fans will be able to follow along & see how she got to where she is! The illustrator of this book did a spectacular job, with color choices the characters look so spot on too! Real nice book, all around! I also like the time line at the end, giving a bit more info, & real photos.
I received an e copy of the book from the Quarto Publishing Group-Frances Lincoln Children's Books, via NetGalley.......for review purposes.
Empowering book for young kids! My son read it and really liked it. He was confused about Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button cat names though... but that made him giggle. My family collects Little People, BIG DREAMS books and everything has been so amazing.
Pub date June 11 2024.
Thank you Frances Lincoln Children's Books, NetGalley, and the author for giving us the opportunity to review this advanced copy.
Taylor Swift by Maria Isabel Sanchez is a great quick informative introduction to Taylor Swift. As someone who likes Taylor's music but doesn't know much about her I enjoyed getting to find out how her passion for music began and more about who she is as a person and artist.
I highly recommend this book to veteran Swifties as well as noobs like myself.
I'll read anything about Taylor Swift! And this was so fun I love this series!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.
I've been swiftie for over 10 years, so none of the information in this book was new to me, BUT I enjoyed it so much. The writing is easy and the illustrations are nice (very cute and actually look like Taylor). In addition, the text is informative, because we get to know about the beginning of Taylor's passion for music, the reason for her re-recording, and of course the Eras Tour.
And there is another important message in this book (especially since it's written for children!): no matter how popular and successful you are, you still need to remain human, help those in need, and generally just be kind. A wonderful short biography that I sincerely recommend to everyone.
thank you to quarto publishing group – frances lincoln children's books for letting me read this book early. i really enjoyed this adorable recounting of taylor‘s life and the amount of diversity shown throughout the book. certainly a must read for old and young swifties alike
