I absolutely love this author and once again, he didn't disappoint! Mr Hurst is now one of my top automatic buy authors.
This book is so full of twists and turns, you will think that you have got the book figured out but the author goes and surprises you.
Will recommend this book and this author to anyone and everyone!
I love hursts books and this one did not disappoint! Brilliant characters and setting with crazy plot twists! I hope to see more by these characters! The ones that made it out alive anyway. I would love to see how the main character progresses into book number 2! Please!
Wealth and secrets are the main plot subjects of this story. When they both collide who knows what will happen!
The story starts of with a lot of mystery and intrigue. I couldn’t put it down. Really enjoyed this one. One of my favourites for 2024! Thank you.
Donavan and Rosalind Conway travel to Ireland with their son, Barnaby, and hire Shannon to be their private tour guide. Shannon is completely unaware of their tie to her. She gets bossed around by Rosalind to make the trip flawless and begins to take a liking to Donavan who she comes to trust.
From near the beginning, we are aware of the gist of the plot here but without explanation of how everything comes to fruition. I was flipping the pages as fast as possible to try to unravel the details as I sat with such an eerie feeling the whole time. This book is full of scheming, murder planning, and truth seeking. Short & fast paced read, the twist at the end was shocking & I loved it!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.
Daniel Hurst has done it again. This is filled full of twists and turns. You will think you know where the book is going but you will be surprised.
Rosalind and Donovan have asked Shannon to take them on a private tour of Ireland with their son, Barnaby, and his nanny. But the couple has dire plans for the travel agent.
Daniel Hurst brings us another psychological thriller. I love that this author has been throwing 3-4 books/year at us lately, but the last few felt very mid. I'd be OK with only one good book per year instead... This felt drawn out, and the paragraphs were waaaaay too long, which is odd for a thriller and really slows down the pace. And there was way too much foreshadowing, unsaid things that had no reason to be not said. It takes way too long for anything to happen. And the synopsis is a bit spoilery and misleading. I thought it was too predictable, although someone who doesn't read a lot of thrillers might not, you will still have to suspend disbelief because it is slightly over the top. Even the ending dragged, piling predictable twist upon predictable twist, it was just everything but the kitchen sink. The reveals start at about 60% and just keep rolling from there. Did I enjoy my read? I did not not enjoy it, but my expectations were not met.
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Definitely a trip to remember, this family will never be the same after their vacation to Ireland! This was a gripping story with several twists. It kept me on the edge of my seat! Really enjoyed it!
This is the 42nd book I have read of Daniel Hurst's, so you could say I am a bit of a fan of his writing. This was no exception, another evolving plot that had this reader gripped form first page to last and startled by the final twist that I really had not see coming. Thanks to Net Galley and publisher Bookouture for the chance to ARC this book.
This is one of the best books I’ve read this year! I highly recommend it.
Daniel Hurst is one of those authors where I will read any book they write and this is the perfect example as to why. While the blurb makes it seem like a story told many times, the actual story is quite unique. So many times I was quite confident I knew where the story was heading but each time I was surprised by a twist. I loved it from beginning to end and I would love a sequel to this book.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
Wow
What another great novel by Daniel hurst.
I’m loving his writing just now.
I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t what I got that’s for sure. Such a great read
I always read Hurst’s books as soon as they come out so I was happy to get this ARC! A couple hires a tour guide to show them around Ireland. The couple, their child and nanny fly from Boston to Ireland with an ulterior motive! I was hoping the twist wasn’t glaringly obvious. There were multiple twists so it isn’t all easy to guess. I mainly just enjoyed reading. I love his easy style of writing, and the ride was enjoyable! I could also picture the Ireland landscape as I read! If you haven’t already, read all of his books! Some are better than others which is to be expected. As an added bonus, his father is now an author! While his writing style is different, I enjoy his books equally as much! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
A family goes on vacation but all is not as it seems. What could the family be hiding? Why do they want this particular guide taking them on the tour? Who comes out of this alive? This was another great book by Daniel Hurst that I highly recommend.
The Conways hire Shannon, a tour guide for Ireland, but right away, you sense something's fishy. It grabbed me right from the get-go! Each character has their own thing going on, but it's easy to follow. Shannon just wants to make some cash, but she's bossed around by Rosalind to make everything perfect. The dual perspectives give us a peek into the Conways' scheming and Shannon's hustle to make it all work. And let me tell you, the twists at the end? Mind-blowing! Hurst has knocked it out of the park again with this fast-paced and fun story that I couldn't get enough of!
Thank you once again to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Daniel Hurst’s latest book The Family Trip had me on the edge of my seat until the very last page. Oh boy, was this a family trip that was set in Ireland, a place I’ve always wanted to do with a tour guide just like in the book but it makes me think twice now . Just kidding. Another fantastic 5-star book by the great Daniel Hurst. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review. To be published May 31, 2024.
Great psychological thriller! I could barely put the book down, I just had to find out what happened next. Every book I have ever read from Daniel Hurst has been wonderful. I highly recommend!
Based in Ireland, this is another corking (pardon the pun) standalone thriller from Daniel Hurst!
This particular page-turner has Shannon, a thirty- something single tour guide, offered a ridiculously large sum of money to take a wealthy American couple out for a personal tour, that must be bespoke, secluded and utterly under the radar. Shannon is treated to a few surprises from this couple, who have her wring-footed from the outset. It is abundantly clear that this couple have motives that extent far beyond enjoying a relaxing retreat.
This story is gripping, unputdownable and deliciously original. I absolutely love that this book is pure pleasure, no nonsense gratifying entertainment with no unnecessary frills - perfect to unwind with!
Written in the distinctive style that those of us who regularly read Daniels novels have come to see as his signature. An utter pleasure to read and review!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
Sensational! I really thought I had this one sussed, but in true Daniel Hurst style, he was always one step ahead with a killer twist waiting to take my breath away!
Shannon is hired as a private tour guide by Rosalind and Donovan, who are visiting Ireland with their young son and his nanny. But what Shannon doesn’t know is that the sole purpose of the trip is for them to kill her. But why? As they messed with her emotions and the scheming became more and more twisted, I was utterly gripped. These people!
The ending left me reeling and there’s definitely scope for a sequel - please?
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
Shannon is a tour guide in Ireland who has been offered a great deal of money to guide an American couple around Ireland. Who are they and what is the connection if any between them and Shannon? Another fabulous psychological thriller from Daniel Hurst. This one covers a week of travelling to quieter places in Ireland. The Americans a truly obnoxious in their behaviour towards Shannon. Satisfying ending to the story rounds off another well written thriller. The characters are well written and I wonder how Daniel Hurst manages to keep coming up with these stories. Well worth reading. With thanks to the author Netgalley and Bookouture for this advanced copy.
How have I not read a Daniel Hurst book before!!! I won't lie, at first I hated the characters and wasn't sure I was going to enjoy the book, but I read it in two sittings. I couldn't put it down! And the twist at the end? Seriously. Brilliant.
Despite the characters being horrible, they have their reasons. I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller and will now be stalking his back list of books!
Wow. First time reading this Author and will not be the last. Run....don't walk....to get this amazing book!!!
Thank you to Netgalley for providing this digital copy in exchange for a review.
I loved the storyline and fast paced plot in this book. The setting was in Ireland which I also loved. I wish the ending had been a little different but it was definitely revisiting and shocking, just wish it had been more.
