unfortunately i have had to DNF this book. the writing felt all over the place and there were too many characters to understand what was going on, especially as it was told in third person - i didn’t know who was who.
It was a fun, heartwarming and relaxing read with well-written characters. I liked that it was so easy to read and made me smile while reading. The characters’ stories were interesting and they all had a personality. I enjoyed reading about their lives. Worth a read!
Thank you NetGalley and Sophie King for this arc copy!
A fun, endearing book with plenty of quirky characters and unlikely friendships to explore. While there were no real surprises here, it eas an enjoyable, light read.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.
I'm normally easily confused but multi-person books, but The House Share got it right. I found it to be a relaxing read and very much enjoyed my time with the book.
This was an easy read, great for Summer. The story was a little predictable but the characters were well rounded and well written.
This book was easy to read, fun page turner which will warm your hear.t. I enjoyed the well developed characters.

The House Share is set outside of London where a grand estate has been split into an apartment complex. The book follows four families that have moved in and how their lives intertwine with their neighbors. This was full of family drama with a quirky set of characters all going through different life transitions. There was quite a bit of the pregnancy trope and was on the soapy end for my taste. There were some sweet themes of odd pairings, developing friendships, and repairing family relationships which I did enjoy.
The House Share by Sophie King is a delightful room-com!
I absolutely loved this book. It’s an adorable story.
A well-written, easy read that is sure to make you smile and give you all the feels.
Rosie and James characters were well thought out and it made me happy to keep reading.
The novel is very well written, paced nicely, funny in parts, heartwarming and endearing.

This book was easy to read, but I struggled to get into the book. It did end up being a heartwarming book. It was pleasant and well-placed.

I absolutely loved this book, was enthralled from the first page and couldn’t put it down.
It’s all about the eclectic group of people who live at Bridgewater House which was once a stately home. It’s such a beautiful setting and I could picture it all perfectly.
I felt like I was living there and loved all of the residents. I found their back stories so interesting and was willing them all on throughout the story. My favourite was Roddy.
The ending was excellent and very unexpected with a great twist. I would love a sequel to follow the characters on their journeys.
A five star uplifting and heartwarming story of real life and real people.

House share is about 4 people who are all going through big life changes in their lives. This book was a super easy way to escape from reality and to start with I struggled to get into the book. It was a heartwarming book.

I enjoyed this story that follows 4 different characters. I enjoyed reading about them and their lives. This was a nice heartwarming story.
We meet Louise, who has found herself and her 3 children and dog moving out of the family home into a 3 bed flat after her husband leaves the family to another woman.
Marcie originally from America, falls in love with a real British gentleman, however he is much older with 2 children from a previous marriage. All Marcie wants is to fall pregnant, however every month the disappointment rolls around. She tries anything to try and fall pregnant.
Mollie de may has just lost her husband to cancer, but is sure he is still around, but only she can see and hear him. A bombshell lands when the will is discussed and he left 2 other people in his will, including poppy. She happends to be pregnant but much further along than expected.
Lastly there is lord roddy pear, who happened to grow up in Bridgewater house, before he fell off the waggon and became a drunk therfore losing assess to his children.
At bridgewater house there are lots of secrets, but together they find there way together
An enjoyable book I looked forward to returning to reading. But, something was missing. It never reached the point where a book grabs you, and feel so engaged and in love with the book and think "wow this is fantastic". The characters were flat, never developed. The story was basic. That said, it was good enough and is worth a read.
This book was so good! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I feel like there was great chemistry on page and the characters were written really well! This is my first book by this author and I can’t wait to see more from them!

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 Bridgewater House is a beautiful estate newly turned into apartments and an eclectic group of tenants join together under one big roof for a beautiful read that reminds us that we are all on this ride called life together. It’s a dream come true, a place for healing, a new start…a beautiful and poignant read about the connectedness of humanity. The House Share is a slower read that focuses on each human’s personal experience as they all acclimate to their new lives, brought together by a house they are striving to make a home.

Once an incredible country home for the Pearmain family, the Bridgewater House has now opened its doors as an apartment building for six different families. Beautifully redone, the Bridgewater House not only offers stately rooms, relics of the previous owner's history, a well stocked fishing lake, and an owner's association that never rests, but it also provides a community to those looking for somewhere to build a new life. THE HOUSE SHARE follows four of the new owners through trials and tribulations, and while it's marketed as "uplifting and funny", I found the storylines to be quite the opposite with themes of infidelity, alcoholism, divorce, spousal death, financial instability, and custody issues.
Marcie is a newlywed, struggling to fit her proud American personality into the rigid expectations of her (much older) husband. Struggling with infertility and the outright hostility of her new stepchildren, it's not surprising she turns to alternative means to get what she wants...
Louise has dutifully raised her three children (now unruly teenagers) and kept an immaculate home for her family as a stay-at-home mom, but after the unexpected news of her husband's infidelity she suddenly has to make it on her own as a single mother. Entering the workforce after over a decade, struggling to keep up with her children's teenage attitudes, all while dealing with her burgeoning feelings for her best friend means she may be well over her head...
Mollie, once an incredibly famous actress, is facing financial difficulties. Newly widowed and determined to be as tough as everyone thinks she is, Mollie struggles to accept the changes of her aging mind and her beloved husband's death-- especially since he keeps showing up...
Lord Roddy Pearmain, or just Roddy now, has just been released from rehab for his alcoholism. Determined to prove everyone (but mostly his stepfather and ex-wife) wrong, Roddy decides to turn over a new leaf and start anew. But when faced with the reality of his previous actions, he may just make desperate moves in order to see his children again...
Despite some pretty difficult formatting issues that made the perspective/time jumps sometimes difficult to follow (take this with a grain of salt, I'm unsure if this is a result from my edition), THE HOUSE SWAP was a heartfelt read about four people starting a new chapter in their lives.
I loved following the characters in the house share, they each had their own flair and personality which made them stand out to me.
The House Share follows the lives of four residents living in apartments in Bridgewater House:
- Louise, a soon-to-be single mother, juggling her career aspirations, children, cheating husband and relationship with her longtime friend, Guy, who might be something more.
- Mollie, a widower, who still sees her dead husband and talks to him.
- Marcie, who is struggling to have a child with her much older husband and is having a hard time connecting with his children from a previous relationship.
- Roddy, a recovered alcoholic, battling his ex-wife to allow him to spend time with his children.
This book was pitched as 'uplifting and funny' and I was disappointed. I struggled to find the humour throughout the story as the characters were battling a ton of issues around infidelity, careers and their children, which resulted in the storylines being overall quite heavy and somewhat dreary. I didn't connect with any of the main characters except for Roddy, who was the most interesting. Seeing him turn his life around and fight for his relationship with his children was heartwarming and one of the few uplifting moments of the book.
