Girl's Skills for Life is a detailed book of life skills, aimed at girls aged 7+ and their caregivers. It is NOT a book about puberty and the skills needed to navigate that - rather this is a survival guide that will help prepare the young reader for adulthood. It covers home skills, finance, safety, STEM (GEMS), politics (briefly), outdoor adventures and much more. Many of the skills outlined in this book - from cooking, washing, coding, sports, arts, leadership etc - are unisex, however the focus with this book is to empower girls.
This is a very text-heavy book, with AI-generated images, throughout - I would have preferred to see relevant graphics, photos and diagrams in each section, to give more visual leaners a greater understanding of the concepts - eg sewing a button, or photos of women leaders in their fields.
Despite that, the book aims to foster conversations between the child and their adult, whether it be about finances or the stars, and the comprehensive lists of topics included here do just that. It is region-neutral, so the skills will translate well globally, and is a handy guide I would have liked growing up.
A good book for girls or youth in general, to help them navigate the world around them.

This is a book that I wish for myself in that I would had liked to had been able to read and become aware of the potential that was out there for me to grasp and learn. It’s a book I would recommend each girl should read. . . And parents too!
The best thing I can say about this book is that I wish I had it when my daughter was young. I missed a lot of the skills covered here myself when growing up which occasionally left me scrambling with my own kid, This would have been a huge help. And as I side note, your sons need to know this stuff too!
