Primal Hunt is the ninth book in L.L. Raands Midnight Hunters Series, and although each book has a unique romance, I’d still suggest reading it in order. If you don't, you risk losing a bunch of context. Now, if you have read or listened to the previous eight stories and are wandering about Primal Hunt, read ahead.

Sylvan and her allies (Jody Gates, Lord Torren, and Alpha Constantine) agree that whatever is happening in Faerie will eventually seep into their world if they don’t face it head on. To do this, the vampires need to rely on the Weres to provide blood when and if needed during battle. New bonds are forged, and old ones are strengthened as the preterns prepare to face a new enemy who has sided with Francessca, the vampire who hurt so many of their own.

No one can fault L.L. Raands’ writing style (who is also the amazing Radclyffe) and her ability to create strong female characters with story arcs that intertwine within a world of their own. The continued updates about MCs from the earlier books are a nice trip down memory lane, and the idea to focus solely on one main new couple works perfectly.

I binged this entire series via audiobook in about two months, and they were some of the steamiest, heart-stopping hours of my life! Primal Hunt could be a conclusion to what has been a ground-breaking series, though hopefully, there is more to come.

I received an ARC from Bold Strokes Books via NetGalley and am leaving my honest review.

There was action, lust, love, fighting, steamy scenes (which IYKYK), a lot of moving parts, and it's imperative to have read the series. I read up to book 4 and well- that was not enough! lol. I found myself willfully unawares of what was going on and couldn't remember all the politics behind the action. This is not a stand alone by any means- enjoyable? Yes, but what I was enjoying was confusingly fun.

I was looking forward to this book because I am a Radclyffe fan and I understand LL Rand is her pen name for this series, but this book was a big miss for me. It would probably fair better with someone who had read the rest of the books in the series but I just had a lot of trouble keeping up with all the characters and the intimacy was not what I expected.

So for me personally I’m not a fan of this type of writing and wouldn’t read any others in this series but still a Radclyffe fan.

I have been with this series for some time now. And I have been waiting for something more intriguing to happen. Like a lot of reviews before this, say there is potential, and there is. Because this whole universe is full of amazing and powerful women especially with the new generation of Kira and Kendra. There is so much more but the talk of war has been wanting to happen since book 1 or 2 and I am telling you, that is now becoming old news since it is book 9 now. The plot in book 3 about all the lab work and stuff, there is more and it wasn't ended and since there is a "new form of silver" now which is probably not connected.

There is more character introduction than story development and it is sad. And the wolves are now easily falling in love with vampires. I still refuse to call that a mate-bond because it is not well-explained for it to make sense. AND THE INSUBORDINATION, get to me. Too many powerful characters not having much to do.

I almost thought it did when that exiled Vamp-Queen drained a wolf, only to find it was not even a mated wolf. Man, that would have caused some crazy drama, which I crave for this series. This series needs something more..more .. I don't even know how to phrase it. But it needs more grit or whatever. Something shocking or transcendence because that hasn't happened since Mir gave birth.

Any time Radclyffe/L.L. Rand has a book coming out, I hit that buy button with lightning speed. She’s great at not only writing a great romance, but really grabbing your emotions, making you feel it deep down.

In Primal Hunt, the 9th book in the Midnight Hunters series, the Timberwolf and Snowcrest packs, the Vampire seethe, and the Catamount cats join the Master of the Hunt to take on an incursion of Fae. While preparing to fight, Rand takes us on a tour of all of the couples from previous books, touching on their lives and loves. It was a nice “touch base” to really pump up the feels.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I was so thrilled to see a new book in this series after such a long time. The conflict storyline was very engaging and had me on the edge of my seat. As always, the chemistry between the two leads was palpable from the start. It was nice to see some of the characters from previous books, however, I felt there were too many to keep track of, and various chapters featuring different past couples took the attention away from the new couple which I would have appreciated seeing more of. Having said that, it was a very well written and enjoyable book and I look forward to the next one in the series.

Really loved this book. There's so much going on at once, but I loved every single minute and chapter of this book. I really liked getting to see all the different characters from previous books come together in this one, to merit an epic paranormal speculative adventure. Ever single book in this series is good ,but this is by far the best one. I loved getting to know the new main characters as well as getting to see how the other characters from previous books were handling life as couples. I loved all the action, romance and intrigue in this story. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family and I look forward to what's next from this author.

Primal Hunt, the ninth installment in this amazing series, continues to deliver the goods without faltering. Unlike many long-running series that tend to lose their spark over time, this one remains as captivating as ever. From the first page to the last, I found myself engrossed in a whirlwind of vampiric intrigue, fae politics, and lycanthropic warfare.

The plot is a tapestry of alliances and betrayals, all woven together in a desperate struggle for survival. What keeps me hooked are the relationships, both new and old, blossoming and unraveling amidst the chaos. However, I must warn you, diving into this book without prior knowledge of the series might leave you feeling like you've stumbled into a supernatural maze. It's like tuning into a paranormal TV series midway through its ninth season—engaging, but a bit bewildering without the backstory.

Raand's storytelling prowess shines through once again, pulling me into a world where I could practically feel the tension crackling in the air. The battles are not just physical but emotional, hitting you right in the gut. And let's not forget the steamy scenes that add an extra layer of heat to an already scorching narrative.

I could go on and on about the intricacies of this book, but really, you just have to experience it for yourself. Dive in from the beginning, let the earlier books lay the groundwork for what promises to be an epic journey. Trust me, it's worth it.

The Midnight Hunters series is one of the best sapphic speculative romance series out there and if you haven't read the other books in the series, I would recommend reading those before diving into Primal Hunt.

Rannd's skillfully handles the number of characters in "Primal Hunt", especially considering the diverse hierarchy and species involved, and I easily kept track of everyone. Catching up with beloved characters from previous books deepened my connection to the story. The strong bonds and palpable chemistry between characters like Sylvan and Drake, Jody and Becca, and Nikki and Sophia added layers of depth and emotion to the narrative.

The dynamic between Anya and Rafe is incredibly intriguing! The initial sparks and antagonistic banter between them create such tension and anticipation. Their connection defies expectations, especially considering their backgrounds and the initial lack of connection with their previous partners. Their interactions evolve throughout the story and allow for more intimate connections. Their swift and all-consuming relationship is like a rollercoaster ride of emotions and intensity which I thoroughly enjoyed!

Primal Hunt is a thrilling addition to the Midnight Hunters series, keeping readers on the edge of their seats with its gripping storyline and dynamic character interactions. The mix of familiar faces and fresh personalities adds depth to the narrative, while the impending battle amps up the tension and drama, testing the bonds of loyalty and trust among the characters. The pairing of Rafe and Anya is captivating and dynamic. Their differing viewpoints and tension create a compelling blend of entertainment and sensuality adding an extra layer of excitement and passion. I highly recommend this book for fans of the series and newcomers alike!

Disclaimer: I received an advance reader copy which this review is based on, and I preordered a physical copy.

I was SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK having just reread the whole series (for the 15th?) time. I've been a Rad fan for a very long time but this series is special. The characters are so vibrant, sexy, and the world-building is detailed and interesting. The pace is tight and you will not be able to put the series down.

Primal hunt collects all the characters from the previous novels and throws all of them into the frenzy at once. I felt like a kid in a candy shop at times because it was just so much fun and so much was happening AND I KNOW THOSE CHARACTERS and I was flipping pages with a big grin, excited to see what would happen next.

No spoilers, go read it yourself. You will not be disappointed.

I’ve waited so long for this book, and Raand has NOT disappointed! This was my first paranormal series that I ever read when it first came out and I’ve been eagerly devouring every book as soon as they release ever since!

Once again, we’re thrown into the sensual, erotic and lustrous world of the Timberwolf Pack and paranormal creatures that Raand’s so masterfully crafted—and this time with the added adrenaline of war! I thoroughly enjoyed the added thrill of the battles both in Pack lands and Faerie. It was a wonderful addition…and there is something about how it ended that makes me think it’s not as over as we think it is. And I couldn’t be more excited!

As always, the love and bonds between the characters were the highlight for me and it was wonderful to see some new relationships/bonds forming (this time with Anya & Rafe). Sylvan & Drake, along with Niki & Sophia, will always hold special places in my heart and I adored their interactions in this book as well as the building unknown about Sylvan & Drake’s young’s future place within the pack—it’s both exciting and nerve wracking and I can’t wait to see where that goes!

This is the 9th book in the series and I loved it just as much as I have loved all the previous instalments. Raand has created a world that is full of love, friendship, lust, trust and power. The world itself and the characters are all wonderfully connected and a joy to read. And then add in spice that’s absolutely dripping with eroticism and primal need, and you’ve got a fantastic paranormal romance series brimmed with queer inclusion.

If you haven’t read this series yet, then I would highly recommend giving it a read! It’s one of my favourite series, that’s for sure! And ‘Primal Hunt’ is a fantastic new addition! 5/5 stars!

I hate to say it, but this was not what I was expecting. This might be a book you'll enjoy, but it just wasn't for me. I do wish the blurbs of books would include more trope lists or other descriptions to help a reader.

I had not read this author before but I enjoy paranormal romance. I thought this book was middle of the road. I would have appreciated main characters and/or pack alphas and mates and other pairings at the beginning of the book. There were so many characters, it was hard to keep track. It was also personally hard for me to keep track regarding traditionally male names for female characters. If I said that incorrectly, I do apologize. I have read plenty of werewolf and vampire smut in my day, but I feel like they were tangling A LOT. I don't mind that either in most scenarios, but I felt it was written all the same style, so it seemed repetitive. Since I believe this is part of a larger series, I feel like while ok as a standalone, I'm probably missing some character development from other books. Plus it was a shorter book (for me anyway.) Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the ARC.

A great addition to the series. I think you got to have a cheat code to remember the characters in the whole series. Because Anya got introduced in the first book and Rafe in the third book. The author spread to story around to check up on them previous couples or characters. I am trying not to spoil anything because it the readers a great surprised of what is going on with this person or couple. Plenty of everything and it was hard to put the book down. Great story and a must read.

Primal Hunt was a steamy and fun to read fantasy installment to L.L. Raand's series. This story is definitely not a standalone and I will highly recommend reading the other books in the series first to be able to fully understand this story. I definitely had to just accept that there were references that I would not understand but I will be going back to read the series and then reread this wonderful installment.

Omg this was HAWT! I absolutely love this series and was not disappointed in another great episode. I absolutely love the interaction between Anya and Rafe. The continued story for Sylvan is well structured and so great to follow. I really hope and cant wait for a lot more in this series.

This was an enjoyable read! Had a lot of characters in it which sometimes is too much for my dyslexic brain, however, I did enjoy the story!! Great plot with lots of twists and turns!

I would recommend this book to my friends and followers on release day!

Thank you Netgalley for providing the arc!

Another installment and what seemed to possibly be final book in series, but who knows. Raand delivers another great addition to this world. The book picks up almost right after the end of the last one.

As usual, Raand catches you up with the characters from the previous books and the threat of Francesca looming closer. Alliances are requested by the fairy queen who has enemies trying to usurp her throne and it's threatening to come into the human world so the Weres and vampires must form an alliance as well to help. The catch is, the Weres must volunteer to provide blood to the vampire's while in Fae land. War is coming and they need to be prepared.

Anya, a young were is paired with Rafe, the senchal to Jodie and a very powerful and old vampire. They both are instantly drawn to the other and it ignites feelings that they both thought were gone, mostly Rafe.

This was pretty quick book to the finale and it was enjoyable, but not my favorite of this series. The war seemed to end pretty easily and Francesca well, I wasn't a fan of it.

Overall, I recommend this book as its what the series has been building up to, but I felt let down by it. I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
