Patterns are great and so cute!! Love this book.

The ability to combine many different parts to make different animals was such a fun idea. I especially love how there are different poses for each animal as well.

This is a great book of crochet patterns. Although I did not have the chance to actually make something before the galley expired, I did read through the entire book and the instructions and photos seemed very clear and easy to follow. I also like how this provides tips and options for customizing your creations: there are numerous sections for different body styles so you're not stuck making each piece exactly the same way. This is accessible enough for beginners but I think it would also provide value to someone more experienced with crochet. I will definitely be purchasing a copy of this for myself.

Wonderful book full of great and imaginative characters. I found the instructions to be well written and easy to follow. The basic patterns and variations/customizations make for endless possibilities. This is a must have for crochet fans!

Amigurumi Friends by Jade Gauthier-Boutin; 20 Easy Patterns to Create 100+ Adorable Custom Crochet Critters was so cute and great to create. I just loved this book and ended up making so many of these for my great nieces and great nephews. The patterns were so easy to follow with great illustrations and clear instructions from start to finish which made them a joy to make. Especially to see my crochet creations come alive in my great niece and great nephews hands!

This book is full of cute patterns. It also gives guidance on customizing and creating your own Amigurumi. I’ve been crocheting for years but recently started creating Amigurumi. There is plenty of detail to help beginners. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a copy for my personal library.

The patterns in this book were so cute and easy to make. I love how she take basic patterns for the head and body and taught us how to customize it to create so many different animals.

I haven’t gotten a chance to officially try any of the patterns, but I’m already loving how beginner-friendly and readable this is! I can’t wait to make some little critters.

Up to this point, I had pretty much only made amigurumi based on specific patterns. I had no concept of how certain shapes are built, and I certainly had no idea how I would ever go about starting my own amigurumi without a specific pattern. However, Amigurumi Friends has opened a whole new world for me. Though I’m still new, I feel incredibly empowered now to make my own unique plushies. I’ve already put this to use making some animals for my cousins’ new babies, and I’m looking forward to making more.

Amigurumi Friends’ a la carte pattern style was incredibly interesting and fresh, and these basic pattern elements are ones I am confident I will be coming back to again and again on my amigurumi journey. I’d highly recommend it for anyone who is new to the craft and wants to feel empowered to branch out and create unique pieces.

Amigurumi Friends is an adorable guide to crocheting 20 base forms with variations and tutorials by Jade Gauthier-Boutin. Due out 18th June 2024 from Quarto on their Quarry imprint, it's 144 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

The book is logically laid out and beginner accessible. The graphics are appealing and clear. The book is lavishly illustrated and the photography is very detailed and taken at close range. The book has a short introduction including the stitches used. The author/publisher have included QR codes throughout which link to supplementary content including videos showing the techniques used.

There are two main parts. The first section includes a fairly thorough intro to crochet and tools and supplies. The general tutorial for the basic shapes and common features for all the projects follow the introductory chapters. The specific tutorials are broken down into head and body variations.

The following chapters include the specific tutorials grouped thematically: zoo, woodland friends, farm animals, and fantasy/dinosaur friends to crochet. The end of the book contains some really useful tips from the author showing her own design process, and giving lots of tips for customization and embellishments.
Well done and a nice selection of patterns which are fundamentally different from one another, giving the reader a broad platform for creating alternative amigurumi and for customization.

Five stars. Well worth a read for crochet interested readers. The dolls are very cute, and most are quite small and quick to finish.

Amigurumi Friends is a great resource for beginners in crochet. The book explains how to get started, providing detailed information about materials, crochet techniques, and stitches. It also gives an overview of making an amigurumi, including the sewing process and choosing eyes.

The patterns are very cute and easy to follow. The patterns for a basic head and five different bodies are provided at the start of the book. With a bookmark you can easily go back to this part and make your critter. But it doesn't end here. The author encourages you to use your imagination and create your own unique plushies.

I’d recommend this book to anyone starting to crochet amigurumi and to crocheters who attend markets.

I loved how customizable the animals are––three poses for each animal. there’s also very clear tutorials on invisible round changes and indented eyes, among other techniques. I will say that not all of these animals are equally cute, but overall this is really fun!

Il libro mi è piaciuto molto. Ci sono tantissimi schemi e spiegazioni davvero semplici. C'è una prima parte dove si spiegano i punti base, poi per ogni animaletto ci sono spiegazioni e passaggi.
È davvero un bel libro e non vedo l'ora di creare i miei primi amigurumi!

Thank you for providing me with a copy of this book. Such cute and fun patterns with helpful videos. I would say that this is definitely more suitable for those who are already quite confident in crochet otherwise it might be a bit tricky to get around the patterns, although the videos do help with this. I loved the variety of animals and the adaptability of the patterns and especially the ability to scan a QR code to watch a video. I would definitely recommend this to more confident crocheters who want a cute and fun pattern. It would also be good to get a really beginner friendly version of this for those who are less confident.

This book was great! Very easy to read and cute amigurumis. The patterns were awesome and my baby cousins really enjoyed them.

I've followed Jade Gauthier-Boutin on social media for a while. I love her patterns. So when this popped up, I had to check it out. Easy to follow patterns. Lots of cute items to make. Making a few in the future.

If you can only own one Amigurumi book, it NEEDS to be this one!

Creative, easily to follow step by step guides with pictures. It even has clothes, a section to encourage the spark of your own adventures!

Each of the 20 creatures has 5 different body shape possibilities turn this into a 100 pattern book before you even start on different colour ways or different yarn types.

It has something for everyone! Easy to follow for beginners & plentiful buggers for a seasoned pro.

I cannot wait for it to released so I can add a copy to my shelf!

very detailed crochet patterns with all the information you need to make the perfect plush, including photo examples and step by step instructions. i loved that it included how to make clothes for the figures and a variety of creatures to crochet too. definitely recommended for those who want to make cute amigurumi plushes.
