Oh this was such a delight!

From start to finish, I was immersed in this one. The characters are fantastic, there's an intriguing mystery regarding murdered werewolves, and there's enough character stuff to get me invested without slowing down the action.

Sage is a Werewolf who wants to be a detective, Oren is a warlock detective who prefers to work alone. When a friend of Sage turns up dead, the two must work together to solve the case.

I just loved all of this. The premise was so original, and the characters so full of life (despite some of them being dead). The story flowed so neatly, and the narration really brought the characters a lot of warmth. There's a decent pace that keeps the story moving forward, while still making time for us to get to know everyone.

I really enjoyed the narration, too; I thought it was done well.

This was a unique urban fantasy and I'd love to read more set in this world.

10/10 - Absolutely no notes. Perfection. I need more in this universe.

The way Jordan writes about the human domain versus the supernatural added a unique twist on the typical urban fantasy where we see humans live in a civilised manner while supernatural beings use candles and forsake all modern accommodations. The world created 'downside' is almost a mirror of the topside world, with their own pubs, markets, bands and media and there was something about these small details that really brought the story to life.

The mystery was engaging and kept the listener on their toes, with multiple twists and turns throughout. The character of Oren carries an air of mistrust throughout, tot he point where I was almost certain that he was the killer.

The narrator - Kate Dobson - did an incredible job of bringing each character to life and is perhaps the first narrator I've come across who didn't commit some sort of hate crime with her Scottish accent.

If you loved Being Human, this is the book for you.

A detective Warlock? Grumpy sunshine and enemies romance? It was all of my favourite everything’s in a book.

Sage was a great character and I so enjoyed the world this was set in. I’m all for werewolves, warlocks and the supernatural and add in a murder mystery element and you have a winner!

Sage, an eager investigator and Oren ‘I work alone’ Rinalis make for a great dynamic. He’s reluctant and she’s out to prove herself and there’s a lot on the line. Werewolves are being murdered and there’s a race against time to prevent anymore deaths. Surely they can put aside differences and work together?

I loved the trope and I was absolutely HOOKED. The audiobook immersed me like no other and the narration was super easy to get into. From the amazing characters, to a poltergeist housemate, there’s so much about this book to love and enjoy. I am fully signed up for whatever else this author writes now!

“A grisly murder. A detective warlock with a dangerous past. A girl out of her depth. Can they solve the case?
Sage is an ordinary girl and a werewolf, moving between worlds, desperate to make sense of her life.
When her supernatural friend, Lucy, is found murdered in the human domain, Sage is determined to be part of the investigation headed up by the attractive but arrogant warlock, Oren Rinallis.
Sage is neither magical nor immortal, but she knows right from wrong – and can scent a killer like no other . . .”

This is a fun YA murder mystery fantasy read. I liked the characters especially P!
They all work well together and have decent development. I particularly enjoyed the journey the characters took in accepting who they are and learning to be a little kinder to themselves.

The narration was really good and Kate
Dobson did a great job bringing Sage and Oren to life. The twists in the book I really did not see coming at all and the whole plot comes together well at the end of the book.

There’s a natural world building throughout the book that is really good you get information about the supernatural world in a way that’s easy to digest but informative. I think this way of doing it is great and makes a book easier to read. A great start to a series that can add on as it goes along.

All the Hidden Monsters follows two supernatural creatures - a werewolf and a warlock - as they set out to solve a spree of werewolf murders. The enemies to lovers, forced proximity of the two main characters was totally swoon-worthy. Filled with moments of witty banter and moments of deep connect, getting to experience these characters journeys as they grow to love themselves for all their faults was so amazing. Having listened to this book on audiobook, I found it to be even more immersive - with distinct voices for every character and the narrators way of portraying emotion - I felt like I was part of the group of close knit friends that forms over the course of this book!

I loved this book, there was a whole world of fantacy but there wasn't tedious world building that you had to struggle through, it just got straight into it. The narrators voice fitted the characters, it was unique enough that I didn't mistake the characters for others in other books. I absolutely fell in love with the polterghost she has a heart of gold, probably one of the kindest most forgiving characters I've ever read about. I'd love to see a Novell based on her.

All the Hidden Monsters follows Sage, a seemingly ordinary girl who is also a werewolf just trying to find purpose in her life. When her supernatural friend Lucy is murdered in the human realm, Sage is determined to assist in the investigation, which is headed up by warlock Oren Rinallis. Despite lacking magical abilities or immortality, Sage relies on her keen sense of right and wrong and her unique ability to scent out a killer, even as tensions rise between her and Oren, risking their own lives in the process.

This supernatural murder mystery is dual perspective, with chapters for Sage and Oren. I listened to the audiobook of All The Hidden Monsters, and Kate Dobson narrated both characters' perspectives. I really enjoyed her narration - the range of accents and intonations to distinguish the characters was great, and she heightened the tension of the murder mystery while also conveying all the emotion from the plot's twists and turns. I loved that it was set in Manchester, England, which is right next to where I live, so I loved the accents and the casual British style to it. Overall, it was such a fun and easy-to-listen-to book and it really suited the audiobook format.

I really enjoyed this supernatural murder mystery. It wasn't easy to predict, and I'm not ashamed to admit that although I normally guess the murderer, I didn't figure out this one! That final 25% of the book was amazing. Another thing I really enjoyed is that we naturally got to find out more about the supernatural world as the plot progressed rather than having a big lore-dump at the start of the book. As the first book in a series, it did a great job of introducing us to this world and to the characters, while providing a really strong mystery. I think the sequels will be even better, building up the world further, and further evolving the characters' relationships now that the core group of characters is established.

This is a great introduction to a supernatural murder mystery series, with a plot as strong as the characters, and I would definitely recommend the audiobook format! I'll definitely be listening to the future books in this series!
