Thank you for the ARC. All opinions are my own. Interesting premise, but I think it was marketed incorrectly. 5 stars for a DNF as I cannot comment on the overall quality of the book.

Hmmm maybe it's my fault, but this plot was not what I was expecting from Vi Keeland? The first part of the book felt like very dragging, which made me not be very interested in how things developed later on.

This book was my first by this author and having read this it certainly will not be my last. I will be checking out the authors catalogue
The book isn’t a love story, it’s an obsession story, a stalking story which makes you shiver to the bone
The book is a slow burner at first and leaves you questioning Meredith and her intentions. Is she a woman in need of assistance? And then the book takes a whole new turn and Meredith is the one that the reader routes for. I’m still absolutely shocked at the ending and Thailand! I did not see that one coming at all.
The writing in this book is perfect. The writer sets the atmosphere and tone of the book perfectly so you feel like you are involved in the lives of Gabriel and Meredith. A perfect psychological thriller that comes highly recommended from me

After hearing that this had been compared to Verity, I was so intrigued to pick this up and I'm glad that I did.
This had an almost addictive quality to it and I wasn't surprised, upon finishing it, to learn that the author previously wrote romance books.
There were lots of great twists too.
The ending still left me with some questions, so I wonder if there will be a sequel. But I would definitely be up for reading more of this story.

A shocking debut thriller that I won’t forget in a hurry, from the very start I was hooked and needed to know the REAL truth. I was totally hooked and read this is a single sitting. In this dark, twisted novel you can never truly trust what you are told. I loved the past/present timelines, felt they really helped to piece together the story. I think the stalker narrative added a creepy, claustrophobic feel to the story, that will leave your skin tingling and your head spinning.

Psychiatrist Meredith McCall is in a fragile state, struggling to deal with the guilt she feels over an accident in which her husband killed two pedestrians. She didn’t write him the prescriptions after his doctor refused to, but she suspected his growing drug dependency and said nothing.
When she sees Gabriel Wright, the partner of the murdered woman, he is happy. She follows him, desperate to see how he has achieved this.
Her unease when he turns up as a new patient doesn’t stop her from continuing their sessions. So many boundaries are crossed here, and it’s hard to work out why she feels compelled to do this.
As the story unfolds we start to sense things are not quite what we think. Meredith seems incapable of leaving things alone, and we venture into dangerous territory.
We are led down the proverbial garden path and eventually come to see just how much so. Unsettling and deeply disturbing. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this before publication.

The Unravelling follows the story of main character Meredith McCall. We’re with her in two timelines - her present and her past. She meets someone in her present who is associated with the events of her past and we follow her trying to navigate her interactions with this man - Gabriel Wright.

First of all this book is probably one of the most twisted storylines I’ve read. It’s really out there in that respect. This is acknowledged through Meredith as she realises what she’s doing is completely unethical and inappropriate but the story is an exploration of obsession and that is definitely how you could describe Meredith’s attention towards Gabriel.

I just kept waiting for the other shoe to drop reading this like surely at some point it was all going to go devastatingly wrong?! The pace changed in the second half of the book with the twists being revealed right until the very end.

Vi Keeland is the latest of our go to authors to cross over into thriller territory. Others such as Tarryn Fisher and A R Torre have done the same and are still very much on my go to list if you’re looking for similar recommendations.

Thank you to @netgalley and the publishers for an ARC of this title.

This was a captivating thriller that I couldn't put down. The book was fantastically engaging and a page-turner. The plot takes you to uncover secrets and delve into them to such an extent that it leads you to ask whether the characters are guilty or not. Meredith is a psychiatrist who is plunged into mourning due to the death of her spouse, but her marriage was not all rosy and little by little, when she discovers what really happened, she will find herself at a crossroads that will lead her to a dark path of obsession and despair. An unhealthy fixation with a professor named Gabriel, with whom she is connected by a tragic accident, puts her career and life at risk at a certain point. I usually like thrillers and this one was no exception, it was fun to guess several twists of this. When I read the ending, it was like having all the pieces of a big puzzle together and everything made sense. As the saying goes “faces we see, hearts we don't know” the final revelation, although predictable, it was impressive to see the masking of this juicy psychological chess match. I would have liked the ending not to be so rushed, but I enjoyed it anyway. I wonder if there will be a sequel to this book, since the ending left me stunned and with some questions. Overall, it's a good and quite addictive book that is worth reading.

Oh. My. God. what did I just read? This book left me speechless. I read 90% of Vi Keeland’s romance books and I was surprised she came out with a thriller and honestly? It became of my favorite thrillers from this year, and it’s spicy!!!

This book was so addictive and consuming, the more the story went on the more I wanted to know the truth. It’s that kind of book that you just can’t put ir down until you’re done. The pacing was perfect and I found myself cheering for Meredith and Gabriel, their chemistry was outstanding. Almost every character in this book is obsessed with something or someone, and I enjoyed the unraveling of it all.

And when I thought it was the end, another twist came, the ending was CRAZY, what a roller coaster. This is a MUST-READ!!!!

Thank you Vi Keeland, Little, Brown Book Group UK & NetGalley for an e-ARC copy.

The Unravelling is the debut psychological thriller from renowned romance author The Unravelling Keeland and it's a thriller that I won't soon forget and one that had me turning the pages long into the night.

As therapist Meredith McCall is reeling from a tragic incident. That leaves her wondering the streets of New York aimlessly looking to forget until one day she comes across Gabriel Wright. The man whose life fell apart the same day Meredith's did. But he looks happy and almost normal and Meredith wants to know if that's really true or is he just better at faking it.

So she starts to stalk him.

Only Meredith is in therapy and admits to her own therapist what she is doing and he makes her see that she has to stop.

Which she does and moves on eventually returning to her practice and patients. Although she doesn't have many left. But thanks to her assistant plenty of new ones have seen the adverts placed online, including Gabriel Wright.

But why has Gabriel chosen Meredith out of all the therapists in New York? And why is Meredith continuing to treat him when she knows it's a seriously bad idea.

And as the story unravels, the events that lead up to the incident that changed both Meredith and Gabriel's lives forever are revealed. But the shocks don't end there as more and more revelations come to light and you are left wondering who has really been stalking who and I was completely hooked. Not to mention the ending left me with my jaw on the floor!!

So, if you love your psychological thrillers fast paced and darkly addictive. This is the story for you!!

Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me

Vi Keeland, who is known for her sexy romcoms, has written her first thriller with "The Unraveling".

Unfortunately, I have to say: it wasn‘t for me! The beginning of "The Unraveling" was really promising and made me curious. But the tension soon waned and the story became very predictable and the twists didn't surprise me. I didn't warm to Meredith either and the same goes for Gabriel. Her mind is a whirlwind of thoughts like "what if", but at the same time she has an adolescent obsession with Gabriel and becomes a stalker. I also find some of her behavior incomprehensible and I find it hard to believe that this woman is a therapist.

Vi Keeland's writing style has adapted to the genre. I found it very narrative and neutral, which made it difficult for me to feel positive emotions for the characters.

In general, Gabriel and Meredith were also rather one-dimensional.

There were also occasional inserts from the past to give us an insight into what happened before.

For me, "The Unraveling" was not a story that could inspire me with its suspense, plot or characters. That's why "The Unraveling" gets 2 out of 5 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

A thrilling novel full of twists and turns, darkness and obsession, and all the suspense you could ever want in a story as we follow a psychiatrist who finds herself on the opposite side of the table after her husband mowed down a mother and daughter while on opiates prescribed with her pad. He may be dead, but the mess he left behind destroyed her in more ways than one. She does not even recognize herself anymore as she stalks the father of that little girl and finds she may just be attracted to him and very, very obsessed. All is not as it seems, however, so be prepared for a thrilling ride!

Psychiatrist Meredith McCall has suffered a terrible loss and is feeling adrift, until she crosses paths with Gabriel White, a man she has a past connection with. Soon he becomes an obsession and when he walks into her office as a patient she becomes further entangled and things become even worse.

There was a lot of hype around this book so I was really keen to read it. This was definitely a wild, suspenseful thriller that I read most of in a day. The author does a great job creating a tense atmosphere and immediately makes you feel uncomfortable and on edge, while having to keep turning the pages as you feel something is about to happen.

I found that I preferred the second half of the book to the first half and it is here that it really picks up its pace. Having not read a book by this author before, I understand this author’s previous novels have been romance based and there is a hint of this here. I would try her romance novels after reading this and would recommend to those who enjoy cat and mouse, suspenseful thrillers. Headlines:
Super tense
Blurred boundaries
Twists to the final lines

The Unravelling blew me away with the tension it held and passed on to me; I couldn't put this book down. This was a story where lines were so blurred that they couldn't be seen anymore, where marriages and relationships were so twisted up and doctors and patients couldn't be trusted.

Meredith was a character that took me on a roller coaster of like to what the hell and back to some element of sympathy. We got chapters of 'now' with occasional 'thens' where we saw her before the tragedy and the almost unrecognisable person she became afterwards.

Meredith was one part psychiatrist and one part mentally unwell person herself, but some of that was understandable. She definitely shouldn't have been in the therapist's chair, however. For fiction, this worked exceedingly well. The other players in the story Gabriel, Connor, Rebecca and Sarah were all interesting and most of them great characters to dislike, apart from Sarah.

The twists in this book were exceptional. Some I saw foreshadowed, some I did not. Keeland kept the reader hanging on the twists right to the final words and I loved where it ended. I would love to read more of Vi Keeland in this genre.

This book was quite the ride. In the beginning it seemed to be about guilt, stalking and unhealthy obsession, then it became an erotic thriller with some dubious psychiatric practice. This book twisted and turned and I loved every minute. And what an ending!

I generally love Vi Keeland, but this book just wasn't the one for me. The twists were good but I didn't like the characters and so wasn't particularly invested in them!

Took me a minute to catch my breath after reading this! Just... WOW WOW WOW!

An absolutely brilliantly written psychological thriller with a sensational plot and an ending that had me so floored, I had to read it again just to be sure. My mind is spinning right now!

Meredith is a psychiatrist who has just experienced a personal/family tragedy and crosses paths with a man who is also connected with the tragedy. Rather than walk away, she follows him and starts to become obsessed with him. When he arrives at her practice as a patient, she knows she should turn him away, as treating him would cross every ethical boundary, but she can't bring herself to do it and her obsession only deepens.

I won't say anymore as I don't want to drift into spoiler territory, but if you love a thriller, you just have to read this one!
