A brilliantly messed up book that will keep you hooked in from start to finish. There were so many twists and turns in this book that you can't see how it is going to end up!

Breath taking! I didn’t realise a rollercoaster could go this fast! The tension, fear and suspense began straight away and never let up! So much so I read right through, unable to put the book down!

This book was devoured over two train journeys.
what a rollercoaster of a read
The book begins with Abi and Ben, who are on their way home from a holiday cut short due to Ben’s job as a solicitor. The weather is bad and Abi takes a wrong turn, almost crashing into a couple who are need of desperate help. abi and Ben agree to give Samantha and Paul a lift back, but upon letting them in the car, everything starts going wrong!
the pace of the book was so fast, with short snappy chapters landing on cliffhangers, I just kept turning the pages as fast as I could. Heart in my mouth, so scared for Abi
There were parts of the book that were a little far fetched, but it just added to the tension and excitement of the book.
really enjoyed this!

If you’re after a fast paced and suspenseful psychological thriller which never lets up the pace, One Wrong Turn is a definite must read. I flew through this book, staying up well past my usual lights out time as I kept telling myself ‘one more chapter’!

Despite being told from different perspectives and two timelines, the story was easy to follow with well developed characters and lots of twists and turns. The tension was relentless. The only occasional eye roll from me came from Abi’s constant stomach lurching, heart clenching, skin crawling and ice down back feelings but I suppose there’s limited descriptions of absolute terror that you can put down in words!

Thank you to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the advanced copy of this book.

Having read from this author before, I knew what I was getting going into this one and boy it didn't disappoint! This was SUCH a fun read.
We jump right into the story from the very first page and I was invested straight away.
I found this to be a really tense, heart pounding read that was packed full of creepy, foreboding vibes.
The writing in this was great. I found that I couldn't put it down and I highly recommend you read this in one sitting.
I liked the characters and was fully invested in them and what would happen to them.
This is one of those books that you can easily see as a TV show or movie.
However one slight issue I had was the length of it. It did seem too long and because of that by the 70% in mark I was ready for it to all be wrapped up. It also felt to me that as it neared the end it did became slightly ridiculous and OTT and this did spoil my enjoyment a little bit.
But I did find it to be an enjoyable, fast paced thriller and I would read from this author again

Fast paced and frantic, I raced through this lip-biting thriller.
Ewan has the skills to produce just what a reader wants from an engaging, tense read; short chapters, relatable characters in danger, red herrings, twists and gradually ratcheting up the risk to fever pitch.
The plot and situation are not complicated and any reader could put themselves in the relatable situation of stopping for a driver whose car has broken down.

Well worth reading.
Looking forward to more from C M Ewan

WOAHHHHHHHHHH this will make you rethink driving in the fog……and making sure,100% sure you take the RIGHT turn and not the WRONG one

Abi and Ben are driving home and they make a wrong turn and it’s not an exaggeration to say they tumble into chaos, not just a slight problem but a whole wrecker of a life change……the decision to stop and help people in distress is one that they will never forget…..the young couple and baby they pick up seem ‘off’,there is something not right…..I will let you discover what that is but it’s a shock and one that drives Ben and Abi to their limits

You can tell its a fast paced read re the above but honestly from the get go this book does not let up ,its scary, dynamic, scary, pounding with action, scary and a full on involving read, really good

I'm sorry to say - a very unbelievable story line. I read it all the way to the end but it was hard to believe in the characters and their actions. A little too far fetched for me I'm afraid

Some good trusts and turns, heart pounding action and thrilling mystery… I just didn’t care for the characters or find their actions totally believable…

I don’t know about you, but I was always taught never to speak to strangers…wish someone had warned Abi and Ben, who had to leave their weekend because Ben had to go back to work early (snore). On their long drive back, under horrendous conditions, they come across a broken down car, a couple and a baby. They decided to offer this family a lift to help them out but cmon guys stranger danger! They find out the hard way that not everything is not what it seems.

Wow wow wow. This is the best book I have read this year (so far!). I never seen the twists or turns coming and I love that in a thriller! This was so fast paced and I really struggled to put it down (but who else was going to look after my kids lol). 1000% recommend to any thriller guys and girls.

I was blown away by C M Ewan's two previous books so I was delighted to receive an ARC of One Wrong Turn to review.

Abi and Ben are on their way home from a weekend away when they run into a family who have broken down on an isolated road. Despite Abi's reluctance, Ben stops and offers them a lift. After all you can't leave a young baby out in cold fog? can you. It isn't long before Abi senses that everything isn't right. But fearful as she is, she can't imagine just how wrong it actually is.

The story is told partly in flashback telling us how the family came to be broken down on the road and just what stress they are under.

This is a tense read (I read another review that said it was slow - did they read the same book as me?). I read it in an afternoon desperate to know what happened next. It's one of those books where you find yourself holding your breath. As with the other two books, there is an element of disbelief at the plot turns but it's a very enjoyable read and I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of C M Ewan and if you aren't you should give it a try. Put it this way, I'm pleased I read it during the day as if I'd started reading it in the evening I'd have been up all night.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC..

One wrong turn by C M Ewan is an edge of the seat psychological thriller, that takes the reader on a car journey with so many twists and turns that the journey is like driving on a racing track in a demolition derby.
Abi and Ben are on their way home after cutting short a weekend away for work again. Abi is driving and it is dark and foggy and Abi takes a wrong turn. Suddenly there is a man in the road and Abi nearly hits him, Ben wants her to stop but Abi carries on until they are passing a breakdown with a woman beside the car carrying a baby’s car seat. Should Abi stop now, all her instincts tell her no, but Ben is a lawyer and he wants to check the woman to make sure her and the baby are okay.
From the moment the couple stop to assist their lives will take a dramatic turn. Everything they have ever known will take a dramatic turn and they will both be taken on a car journey neither of them will ever forget. Murder, kidnap, gambling debts, money, lies and intrigue all feature in the storyline.
Highly recommended

Late one foggy night a young couple stops to help a couple and their baby whose car has broken down, little realising the nightmare they are about to unleash.

Having read two of C. M. Ewan’s previous novels, The Interview and The House Hunt, I had a very good idea of what I was letting myself in for with One Wrong Turn, a nightmare situation full of twists and turns that are impossible to predict. I’m pleased to say that the author delivered in spades.

Abi and Ben are in their late twenties. Their weekend away has been interrupted when Ben has to return home for work. The urgency sees them setting off late at night, travelling along deserted country roads in thick fog. This sudden change of plans hasn’t gone down well with Abi and you get a real sense of the friction between the pair.

Not long after setting off, they see a man in the middle of the road, signalling for them to stop. Ben wants to stop but Abi, who’s driving, ignores him. A short while later, they come across a broken-down car and a woman holding a baby seat. Pulling over Abi and Ben have a heated discussion about offering help, with Ben eventually winning. It turns out the couple are Samantha and Paul, along with their baby daughter, Lila. With no other options available Ben and Abi reluctantly offer the couple a lift to the nearest hospital, a twenty-minute drive away, so that Samantha can get treatment for a cut on her hand.

Once the journey resumes the level of tension within the car becomes palpable. Not only do we have the ongoing disagreement between Abi and Ben, which has now been intensified, but it is obvious that there is something disquieting happening between Samantha and Paul. Slowly, the reader begins to learn of Samantha and Paul’s backstory, the nightmare situation they have found themselves in and their desperation to get to their destination.

As the journey continues, we are given alternate views. We feel the anxiety, building to terror, that Abi and Ben are suffering on their nightmare journey. Alongside this, we discover that Samantha and Paul are prepared to do anything to help them overcome the anguish they are suffering.

There are twists galore and a race against time, leading to a conclusion that has you completely gripped and fearful.

I loved this fast paced thriller, it has more twists in it than a rollercoaster. I will be highly recommended to everyone. The story follows Paul and Samantha, and Ben and Abi, two couples who suddenly become very involved in each other's lives when Abi stops to pick up Paul and Samantha when they break down in their car, in the middle of nowhere in very heavy fog. This is just the start of a very long night for the 4 of them.

A cracker of a psychological thriller that fairly rocks along, a right old page turner that is wildly entertaining.

A twisted road trip and a stark reminder to drive right on by hitch hikers or broken down cars even if the stranded people seem well to do - after all you can always send back help from a safe distance. Unfortunately for our two samaritans all that lies ahead is trouble.

Clever and a whole lot of fun this is another winner from the pen of Chris Ewan..

I love this authors books, they are so thrilling - this is no different, such a page turner.
It has a really claustrophobic feel to it and tense brilliantly paced plot
I couldn't read it fast enough, another brilliant read.

This is a thrilling roller coaster of a ride pretty much from the first few pages of the book and the pace just doesn’t give up till the end. It’s a difficult book to review as I don’t want to give anything away but it was totally different to what I was expecting!
The plot line is an extremely well crafted and well thought out one and with a huge twist around the middle of the story I was desperate to find out what was going to happen and couldn’t put the book down.
The characters are well described and the feeling of tension as the story progressed just built up and up leaving me gasping for air!
So an excellent and enjoyable thriller that all lovers of this genre will love I’m sure ….well I certainly did.
My thanks to NetGalley and Pan MacMillan for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Well that was a ride and a half, literally! I was second guessing myself so much, this is such an exciting read, full of such untrustworthy characters.

The different timelines were perfect and really added to tension, from shouting at Ben and Abi for stopping for strangers and at Paul in frustration, I was completely hooked and whizzed through the book.

The ending was a bit drawn out for me personally, but it was still an exciting read and had so many twists and had gasping outloud throughout.

Add this to your TBR!
