Irene Hannon has been a favorite author of mine for years, and I was so stoked to read her latest romantic suspense tale! Over the Edge is an exciting and action-packed mystery with lots of twists and surprises. The slow burn romance between Lindsey and Jack was sweet as they both worked through their past traumas and overcame their emotional barriers. I truly enjoyed this story (and was excited when I guessed the murderer pretty early on), and I cannot wait for book 3 to come out next year!🩵

Over the Edge is the second book in the Undaunted Courage series. Chef Lindsey Barnes walks into find one of her clients dead and then has to quickly hide when she realizes that the killer is still in the house. She informs Detective Jack Tucker of the limited details of what she saw of the killer. To make this worse for Lindsey, this isn’t the first traumatic event that she has gone through. Can she hold it together enough to help Detective Tucker with his investigation?

The story starts off quickly and doesn’t slow down. The characters come to life as you keep turning the page. You get to know them as they get to know each other. This author has a way of getting you invested in the characters, even the secondary characters, to where you not only want to hurry and read the current book, but also can’t wait for the other books in the series to come This story keeps you guessing to the end. I thought I had the puzzle put together, but in the end, not all the pieces fit together.

This was my first time reading Irene Hannon’s books, and I found Over the Edge full of suspense, mystery, and romance. I wasn’t aware that it was part of a series, and now I plan to read Undaunted Courage. There’s a killer on the loose and Lindsey Barnes is a main witness in a murder case.

Lindsey finds herself in an awkward and frightening situation when she unexpectedly shows up for work as a private chef and finds one of her employers dead, and the suspects are still there. She thinks she’s losing her mind when unusual events happen that threaten her life. Also, Lindsey finds she shares a dark secret with Jack, an investigator on the case. As they work together she discovers her life may depend on his help.

I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't.

Between glaring inaccuracies about law enforcement and a borderline sexual scene, this book is not what I've come to expect from a Christian suspense novel.

Allow time to finish reading this book in one sitting : you won’t want to put it down! Warning : it is not for the faint-hearted. Oh - & it does stretch the bounds of credibility, the number of unwarranted (& very bad) situations the main character finds herself in...
Although part of a series, it does work as a stand-alone.
These series are such a contrast to the likes of the Hope Harbor one, it is hard to believe they are by the same author!
A big disappointment is that – for a Christian book – any mention of God seemed to be just an afterthought. (If this plot had been happening to me, I would have been on a constant hotline to Heaven!!)

I found Over the Edge (book 2 in Undaunted Courage) to be a fast-paced easy mystery that I finished in one day. Lindsay has gone through so much and now after seeing a murder suspect leave the house where she cooks, she is going to face even more. Luckily Police Detective Jack Tucker is there to help her and to fall in love with.

I read/listened to the audio version and love that Therese Plummer narrated another Irene Hannon book! I've listened to many books she's narrated and she's definitely a favorite of mine.

If you like a good clean suspense, give Irene Hannon's Undaunted Courage series a try.

Irene Hannon is always on my reading list! Over the Edge is book 2 in the Undaunted Couragr series, but can most definitely be read as a stand alone novel. This book started straight off with a dead body and placed Lindsey, the heroine right into danger! Immediately, as a reader I was formulating theories, and pointing my finger at suspects. In typical Irene Hannon fashion the story gets more complicated, and things are not always as they seem! I’m not giving spoilers here! The story simply has to unfold! I wasn’t the biggest fan of Lindsey’s personality, but she did grow on me a bit as the book progressed. This book was lacking a bit on the nail biting suspense that I have come to expect from this author, but the end packed a punch!

First of all, let me say that although this is book 2 in a series, don't feel like you can't read this book if you haven't yet read the first one. Trust me, you'll want to read the first one, but if you're not able to, please read this one. You'll love it!
Lindsey Barnes is a chef and prepares meals for the week for people in their homes. While in the home of one of her clients, she discovers the body of the man she is employed by. Before she can react, a toilet flushes and she hides, scared for her life.
The detective on the case, Jack Tucker, (did I mention 'handsome' detective?) encourages her to try to remember if there were any details her mind isn't remembering. Lindsey, also sees a therapist as she was in a hostage situation not long ago, where she was the hostage. She needed help with the nightmares and anxiety, and her therapist has been a huge help to her. Hopefully, he can help her with this new situation and maybe even help her remember more from the crime scene.
Strange things begin to happen to Lindsey as a couple details come back to her memory from the murder scene. What I found odd was that Lindsey told several people those details. Personally, I feel the detective would have cautioned her against talking to anyone about the case. Also, just common sense would tell a person to only tell the police anything you've remembered for your own safety. Aside from that, this was a great story. Lindsey's own mental health begins to fall into question due to the attempts on her own life that she's unable to prove. Or, is someone trying to destroy her credibility as she begins to remember little details?
Lots of action, intense, heart thumping, with some romance kinda story. It definitely held my attention. Love Irene Hannon and this was another hit!

But a chef without her knives is not going to be very productive. So, Lindsey makes plans to stop at the home where she left her equipment.

The homeowner is not there, only a construction worker is in another area. Lindsey spots her knife roll on the kitchen counter. As she come around the island, she encounters a man dead on the floor surrounded by blood. Before she can react, she hears someone in the guest bathroom and she quickly hides under the island countertop. Soon after the suspect leaves, Lindsey calls 911. Another nightmare has begun. Even though she is the only witness, Lindsey does not want to go through this again!

I liked the mystery and suspense in the book, it kept me guessing right up to the end. Most of all, I liked the characters. Especially Detective Jack Tucker and the relationship he had with his sisters Bri and Cara, they are a very caring and closeknit family. Bri was featured in the first book of the series, Into the Fire. I appreciated how Jack and Lindsey worked through issues, and opened-up with one another. Jack was willing to investigate Lindsey’s claims that someone was might be targeting her because she was the only witness. I appreciated that the novel was clean and faith was included in the storyline.

One of the things that did not make a lot sense was Lindsey repeatedly talking to her friends about the developments in the case. Police standard procedure is to caution the witness to not speak about the case with anyone. When a character does something that does not make sense, it seems like it was included to add an element of danger.

If you like a good whodunnit, filled with mystery and suspense with a little romance, you may want to read Irene Hannon’s newest book Over the Edge.

Hannon is an amazing writer. She writes in two completely different genres and is equally adept at both. I'd read anything she writes. This book is a great addition to the Undaunted Courage series. It has an eery feel as people aren't sure what to make of all the strange things happening to Lindsey. Are the events real or are they brought on by stress and an overactive imagination? It shows a side of mental illness without detracting from Lindsey's strengths and emphasizes that it's okay to get help when you need it.

I like the relationship between Jack and his siblings. I appreciate their banter and teasing persistence as they try to find out about the woman Jack met. I will look forward to learning more about his unassuming sister in the next book.

This book is full of danger and intrigue. It has a sense of urgency. I didn't want to put it down. Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free copy of this book. I'd highly recommend it. All opinions are my own.

As always, perfectly flawed characters, high octane suspense, and a satisfying and surprising conclusion. I had it half figured out and I was SO glad to be wrong!

Wowsers!!! I love this great suspenseful read! Lindsey and Jack have to work quickly to solve this case if there's any hope for Lindsey's sanity. She's being targeted because of something she witnessed. And anyone is a possible suspect.

This was really well done and had me not wanting to set it down at all until I had discovered everything. That I had gotten all of the clues and could piece together whodunnit! And let me tell you that I was pretty excited when I pegged it correctly from the beginning! Woohoo! I should say that it probably won't be obvious to everyone, but I've read a lot of suspense/mystery and watched a lot that I'm pretty good and piecing those early clues together and guessing correctly. My family also has a game that we have to make our guesses within the first 3-5 minutes of a show because everything you need to know is placed in there. You just have to know to look for it. Can you figure it out at the beginning? Or will it take you until the big reveal?

Get ready for some page-turning suspense that will have you holding breath and hoping that Jack can piece together all of the clues before something happens to Lindsey. And bonus...there's a sweet love story as well!

Content: This is written in a clean way. Yes, it has suspense, peril, murder and other such aspects but the author has written it in a sensitive way. The love story is clean and only has a couple of kisses.

Over the Edge by Irene Hannon is the second book in the Undaunted Courage series. I would recommend reading the first as well but it does work as a standalone novel. Lindsey happens upon a murder and Jack, the detective sent out to help, doesn't quite believe her story. They end up working together to really find out what happened. The suspense element was great as well as the romance piece. I really enjoyed these characters and I felt they had a real depth to them. I was surprised by who the culprit was. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.

Detective Jack Tucker isn’t at all convinced by Lindsey’s story, but something isn’t adding up. The two must put a tricky past behind them and work together to stop a ruthless and manipulative killer. The plot of this story shows Irene Hannon remains one of Christian fiction’s most versatile writers.

As ever with Hannon, you can’t take anything for granted as the plot twists keep coming. I liked Jack’s steadiness, how he never got panicked but calmly handled everything that came his way. I found Lindsey a little highly strung but there was such goodness in her, and as characters go, she was very resilient. It took me until seventy five percent of the way through to figure out who the bad person was, and as someone who reads a lot of romantic suspense, that was real treat.

Usually Irene's books fall into a "typical but I liked it" category. This one, however, has a slightly lower rating because I felt there were some major plot holes. Or rather, storylines that were disjointed and I questioned how everything came together. Was the whole "corporate espionage and embezzlement" a misdirection? Why have it when really the storyline came down to a more predictable reason for murder.

It was nice to see some past characters (not only from this "series" but other ones Irene has written) make an appearance. But while I normally feel a connection to someone, I did not this go around. So while I will keep reading, Irene Hannon's writings are drifting into Karen Kingsbury "I don't give a crap what you write anymore" territory.

Can Irene Hannon write a bad book? I'm guessing the answer is no. At least, I haven't come across any. This book was amazing and suspenseful. I got sucked into it quickly and couldn't put it down. The characters felt real and relatable, the plotline was believable, and it flowed well.
I highly recommend this book to anyone.

I read recently thaf Publishers Weekly aptly dubbed Irene Hannon the queen of suspense. Her unique writing style consistently captivates me. Over the Edge, the second book in her Undaunted Series, follows a personal chef who stumbles upon her murdered client with the killer still on the scene. The multiple viewpoints make for an entertaining, suspenseful read. And as always, there is a sweet romance. I highly recommend it and look forward to the series' conclusion, despite having to wait.

This book was a very interesting read. I liked the main characters and their relationship. It went at just the right speed. The storyline kept me interested although it did feel like it dragged on a bit. I guessed the culprits of the murder about half-way through the book, but that was mostly because I’ve read enough murder mystery books to know who the most likely people were. Overall Irene wrote an enjoyable book, just wasn’t my cup of tea.
