This book was fascinating to read with the antagonist trying to make it seem like Lindsey was losing her mind to try to discredit her, yet the police detective was falling for her at the same time. I never suspected the person who was behind it all until the author finally decided to reveal it which doesn't happen very often.
An exciting page turner. A sweet romantic suspense filled with danger and uncertainty. Interesting back stories for both of the main characters. Clever red herrings that I completely fell for and was delightfully surprised. I am eager to read more by this author. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy. My review is voluntary.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This storyline plunged right into the Thriller/mystery aspect of the story and gripped my attention. Lindsey has past trauma and finding a body was not on her culinary list for the day. Jack, the Detective on the case, is familiar to Lindsey and she initially is guarded towards him but he doesn’t know why.
Once the case starts to develop the Author has you questioning all Lindsey’s close relationships and her sanity is in question. Can Jack and others get to the bottom of the murders or will Lindsey get in the killers way?

Revell and Netgalley have provided me with a copy of Over the Edge for review:
Trauma survivor Lindsey Barnes hasn't fully recovered from the ordeal that almost ended her life, and now she's facing another crisis. Not only is she the sole witness in a high-profile murder case, but someone is also pushing her to question her sanity. Aside from being the sole witness in a high-profile murder case, someone is also questioning her sanity.
Jack Tucker is unsure of what to believe when his elusive enemy leaves no evidence behind to support her claims. Yet the more he gets to know the appealing personal chef, the more he's convinced someone is targeting not only her sanity, but her life. Despite this, he becomes increasingly convinced that someone is targeting not only her sanity but her life as well.
Unless they can figure out who is behind the campaign to undermine her credibility, a killer could slip away, leaving more than one body behind.
I give Over the Edge five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
Over the Edge, book 2 of Irene Hannon’s Undaunted Courage series, was thrilling and suspenseful from the get go. A murder had the heroine reeling and the police baffled, the list of suspects growing with each chapter. No spoilers here. You will have to test your detective skills and see if you can figure out this intriguing mystery. Good luck!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions expressed are completely my own.
A twisted mystery that will keep you guessing until the fascinating end. Personal chef Lindsey Barnes is feeling confident about her new business when she walks in and finds her employer dead. Hearing someone still in the house, she hides behind a counter praying that she won’t be noticed. Luckily for her, the killer leaves, but with her view mostly blocked, will she remember anything about the killer? Detective Jack Turner is called to the scene and has two possible witnesses. There is Lindsey, who he realizes has not completely recovered from a previous trauma and a young man there working construction. The young man is former military and had been living on the streets prior to getting his life in order. Someone tries to implicate him, but Jack believes there is more to the murder than the brief facts that are available. Someone is also trying to make sure that any information Lindsey provides is suspect. At first, Lindsey finds it difficult working with Jack due to a personal connection that he is unaware of. Will she be able to help with the investigation before the killer decides to silence her forever? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. Private Chef, Lindsay Barnes has had a traumatic past. She is witness to the horrific crime scene of a client's murder and the murderer is just feet away from her. To make matters worse, Detective Jack Tucker who is connected to her previous trauma arrives on the scene and is the investigator on the murder case. Chad Allen, a carpenter with his own past is also on the property, working on a project alone. Lindsay is acquainted with he and his wife Dara. It's a stressful and confusing situation. Did Chad have anything to do with the crime or is he being framed? Is someone after the chef who was a witness of sorts?
I received an e-copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. This is my own unsolicited opinion about the second book in Irene Hannon's series. This is a very intriguing story. I enjoyed it. There are twists and turns that made me wonder if I was correct in who I thought the murderer was. This is such a good story. I like that Jack is the brother of Bri from the previous book. The story keeps the reader on the edge. I don't want to say more and ruin the anticipation. This is a 5-star murder mystery and romance for me.
Personal chef Lindsey Barnes had a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once again she found herself on the scene of a violent crime. St Louis County Detective Jack Tucker finds himself in a situation that leaves him feeling very conflicted. His key witness strikes a cord with him, but seems to have taken an immediate dislike to him, and to top it off, she reminds him of his biological mother for all the wrong reasons. Irene Hannon builds an intense suspense story with a lot of romantic angst in Over the Edge. The title of this book fits perfectly as Lindsey feels herself being pushed closer to the edge of sanity in this story which leans toward being a psychological thriller. It is a compelling tale that will hold readers firmly in its grasp until the last page.
I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Over the Edge from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
A mysteriously moved car, a flipped boat, and icy fingers tugging her down into the depths . . . is someone targeting Lindsey Barnes? Or is she a victim of the imaginings of her own mind? And since Lindsey is Detective Jack Tucker's only witness to a murder, he needs to know if he can rely on her testimony.
Imaginative and original, with a terrifying psychological twist that kept me guessing right along with the heroine, Over the Edge is fabulous, nail-biting, suspense from beginning to end. I loved every page-turning moment!
*Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for the complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
When I read an Irene Hannon story, I have come to expect a nice romance with some “edge of your seat” suspense and a bit of sleuthing to figure out who the villain is. While there are a few suspenseful moments and a sweet, but barely there, romance in this story, I struggled a bit with this one.
I wanted more suspense, more romance, and more guessing as to who the villain was. Normally when I read a romantic suspense book, I am accusing everyone who isn’t guilty. LOL. I had this one figured out pretty quickly, which took away from the story. I also had trouble connecting with the main characters for some reason. I loved Jack in book one, Into the Fire, so I was really looking forward to his story, but sadly, this one fell a bit flat.
Although Over the Edge is book 2 in the Undaunted Courage series, you can easily read it as a standalone story. I’m sure others will love the characters and the suspense this story brings.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. 3 stars.
Over The Edge was the perfect blend of mystery and romance. This is my first book by the author and she expertly crafted a story that had me glued to the pages. Her character development was topnotch as I felt full transported into the story along them.
I loved this book. It seems that I love each of Ms. Hannon's books even more than the last one. This rivalled Into the Fire.
Lindsay is a personal chef recovering from a previous trauma and has walked into a murder at her new client's home. Now she is being gaslighted to make her doubt what she saw.
Jack is the detective assigned to the case and cannot understand why Lindsay is so cold towards him.
There were the usual plot twists and possible villains; it took me a while to figure out just who.
I look forward to reading Cara's story next year; just wish it could be sooner.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Net Galley. All opinions are mine.
I enjoyed this story of a trauma survivor who is thrown into an unrelated but also traumatic situation. This book emphasizes the need for professional help in healing the mind as well as the body. While some of the details regarding the mystery strain belief - there are a lot of circumstances here - overall the story works.
This is Christian fiction so expect conversations about faith.
Family friendly though some situations may be too intense for some readers.
Over the Edge is the second entry in the Undaunted Courage series. It however can be read as a standalone. Ms. Hannon has written a page turner! The characters are believable and the action starts right away. The reader is taken on a bullet ride where the person who is responsible for the murder is kept until the very end. Readers who like suspenseful romance books will not be disappointed. Over the Edge was this reader’s introduction to Ms. Hannon and can’t wait to go back and read previous books while anxiously awaiting for the next entry in the series.
I received an ARC ebook from NetGalley and the publisher, Revell in exchange for an honest review.
This book blew me away. I was totally surprised who was behind the murder and what was happening to personal chef Lindsey Barnes. After witnessing a killer leaving the scene of a murder, Lindsey gets pulled into a murder inquiry. Even with the few details that she can share with the police, weird things start happening to her. Police detective Jack Tucker starts to wonder about her reliability as a witness. I received a free copy of this from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. There is plenty of suspense and action in this book. The ending kept me on the edge of my seat. I look forward to the next book in this series.
After reading the first book in the Undaunted Courage series, Into the Fire, I have been waiting, none to patiently, to read Jack Tucker's story. Irene Hannon has told a fantastic, riveting story in Over the Edge. 5 stars!
Readers will be on the edge of their seats as Lindsey and Jack try to solve this murder mystery all while Lindsey tries to maintain her sanity. Hannon is a master of the twist and turns that had me guessing up until the very end.
It's amazing to me how well Hannon switches from suspense in the Fall to contemporary romance in the Spring. Her books in both genres always make my favorite books of the year list.
Now I'll be in suspense again, waiting for sister Cara's story next Fall, but in the meantime, I already have the next book in the Hope Harbor series on my April must read list. I appreciate Revell Publishers making a copy of Over the Edge available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
“Sometimes there was a fine line between perseverance and stubbornness.” But stubbornness is a trait that gets Lindsay out of a tough situation. She is recovering from trauma months ago and finds herself the sole witness to a murder scene as the culprit exits the house. Ms Hannon once again puts her heroine through the ringer. Lindsay starts questioning what she has seen when someone targets her psychologically. With the help of Jack Turner, a St. Louis County cop, they try to piece together clues to find a murderer.
Full of mind games and thrilling scenes, i read this book in record time. With many suspects to choose from, I was kept guessing until the reveal. The characters were relatable and had depth. The plot was mesmerizing. I always enjoy books set in St. Louis where I lived for 20 years.
As always, Ms. Hannon writes excellent romantic suspense with a solid faith thread to encourage readers.

This book was chef's kiss perfect. From the first page I was hooked. It has a little bit of everything- action, suspense, and romance all wrapped together in a great storyline. If you are looking for a suspense novel with some great twists and turns, look no further.
Such a great read! I highly recommend you give this one a read!!
Readers who enjoy suspense will love this book! This fast paced story is filled with twists and turns that will lead readers to wonder about Lindsay’s sanity. The instigators behind this plot will surprise Lindsay as Detective Jack Tucker searches for answers in this well crafted story. Although this is second in the Undaunted Courage series, it can be read as a stand-alone. Highly recommended!
The suspense starts at the beginning of the book, ramps up its intensity as the story continues and ends with a surprise revelation that includes even more suspense. This is a perfectly well-written romantic suspense, with characters that are relatable and flawed as well as totally believable. Lindsey Barnes is a personal chef who is in the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up being the only eyewitness to a home invasion murder. Detective Jack Tucker is the lead investigator who has difficulty at first believing Lindsey’s account of what happened and presses her to remember more details so that he has more to go on on order to catch a killer. The story continues with part of Lindsey’s backstory and why she doesn’t particularly trust the police and especially Jack. Fascinating details here! There is a secondary story of a handyman who was at the site of the murder and who is Jack’s first suspect. The author does an expert job of weaving the storylines together, including Lindsey’s need for counseling, her past trauma and Jack’s past as well. This book was hard to put down and an engrossing read with a compelling mystery that begged to be solved. I must confess that I love mystery and suspense and read them a lot, but the surprise revelation in this one had me gasping and loving the story even more. With a fast pace, characters who beg for a good resolution and twists that I never saw coming, this moves up to the top of my list of best romantic suspense books this year.
