When I requested this book I was not sure if it would be the type of book I needed to help me with writing my ebook. I did not know if the type of "self help" this author was talking about could be applied to my book on selling handmade items. I have some reservations about the term "Self Help" and for me it evokes memories of "Chicken Soup For The Soul" types of books that I tend not to bother with. The good news is that this book covers all kinds of books that teach people how to do something. It doesn't have to be life changing, spiritual stuff. It could be training a dog or baking. It is an encouragement and a guide to pacing, layout and pitching. This book is designed to coach you through your writing project, whatever the subject. A bit like a blueprint for writing success.
I have not read the entirety of this book yet because I want to use it as a guide, alongside writing my book, which will take me more than 14 days. I do not know if it would ever be possible for me to write a book in 14 days that didn't leave me with a lot of doubt about the quality of what I am putting out there. Maybe as I read through the rest of this book I will get the encouragement I need to believe in my writing abilities a bit more.
• The bestselling and most-reviewed self-help books also included many of the best practices of instructional design, meaning they were specifically built in a way to best help the reader most effectively learn the information the author was presenting. But there was more. The top-selling self-help books also managed to form a deeper connection with the readers themselves.
• They're reading your book, they're coming to you, because they have a problem that they need to solve, or something that is causing the pain or distress in their life, and they hope you are the person to help them solve it.
• Think about the reader, their problems, their pain points, what we offer to make it all better, or what makes us different from every other person out there with a self-help book on our specific topic.
• Makes your book connect with your readers on a deeper level, solves their problem(s), and leaves them feeling empowered and grateful to the person (YOU!) who made them feel that way.
• Figuring out exactly why your reader might seek out your book in the first place. The Key Fact is something that is generally universally true for your target reader.
• If you constantly keep your reader in mind, you will write a book that matters. A book that changes lives. And that’s all any of us can hope for.
• They’re paying you because they’ve come to a point in the process where they can’t move on to the next step without help–they need you to help them solve their problem (or problems or overcome the obstacles that are standing in their way.)

What I appreciate about this publication is how honest it is. It's not for anyone who simply wants to make it big on the publishing market, but for those individuals who already have a certain audience that would be interested in buying the product. And yet, it could have been a blog post. Sure, there is practical, step-by-step advice, quite readily implementable, but there is a "but"... Lisa Daily promises to teach readers how not to be "salesy" and yet shamelessly posts links to her newsletter and various coaching services within the book. It's almost like the dream she's trying to sell wouldn't come to fruition without those extras.
It was a good book. Insightful for me as I was looking forward to writing a book. I'll be sharing such tips with other writers as well. Thank you for writing such a helpful guide!
We all have a vast amount of knowledge stored inside our brains, so why not write it all down to help someone?
Writing and publishing a self-help book has never been easier with the aide of Lisa Daily and this amazing book. Lisa has produced a step-by-step guide for everyone to be able to easily convey their thoughts onto paper.
I've made so many notes along the way, and I look forward to seeing where it takes me.
I thought this was a good, practical read and a very helpful guide to anyone who wants to write a 'how to' book. It lays out key components that you must have in your book, and gave me hints for how I should structure my content. It was easy to read and I finished it quickly. If you have an idea for a book in mind, this will help you understand how best to put your book together. If you've already got an outline and a topic, this book will help you refine the structure so that your readers can get the results you want for them.
Helpful for first-time 'how to' authors.
I received an ARC via Netgalley - thank you!
Thank YOU! That goes to the author. Do you know how long I've had nonfiction/self-help book ideas rolling around in my head? Since I started reading them at 14. However, I never took action. I couldn't see the steps so I didn't take them. This book helps clearly, and I mean clearly, outline what a person needs to do to get the ideas out of their head and on to paper, and I am so, so grateful. It does feel like she's right there with you coaching you to finally (FINALLY) get the book done, and to get it done quickly. Anyone who wants to write nonfiction needs that. I'm so happy I found this title. 5!

I'll be ordering this and purchasing a copy for myself too. I even signed up to Lisa Daily's 2 weeks of daily pep talks and tips as mentioned in her book. Thanks so much for the arc! I look forward to recommending this!
Write a Self-Help Book in 14 Days! by Lisa Daily would be an excellent book for an influencer, coach, or entrepreneur who would like to publish a book to attract potential clients.

I would definitely suggest this book to anyone with the dream of writing a book!
Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.
Daily shares a wealth of information about writing a book specifically in the self-help genre, but fortunately, her tips could be used for writing many different types of books. This was both informative and inspiring and though I’ve never thought about writing a self-help book before, I’d feel better equipped to get started should an idea present itself. *Advance copy provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Filled with great bits of advice! I'll definitely apply many of these strategies while writing and working on my title.
This is a quick guide for those wanting to write a book to share their expertise and insights, their personal stories and advice. It offers a simple step-by-step plan from working out your why to creating a resources list at the end. The author cleverly uses her own topic to succinctly explain the book-writing process and also suggests how to create a companion workbook for practical tools and exercises, space for reflection, goal-setting and tracking.
I'm feeling torn. I finished the book feeling like the same thing had been repeated over and over at least six times (which annoyed me), and that on top of that, before even writing anything, you already had to be a star in your community or a coach to stars AND have $100 to spend (and by the way, we're told that's not a lot). So now, regardless of my ability to write or not, I've learned the following lesson: I'm too poor and too unknown to successfully sell this type of book... and I don't believe that was the author's intended message.
I thought this book was helpful and informative. I am into writing a lot and this was a good tool to learn about a specific way to create a book that solves a problem for a reader. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
No word of a lie, this book is a veritable gold mine of tips and advice! It covers everything, including an analysis of the pros and cons of traditional versus self-publishing. Not to mention a chapter on how to make a workbook to go alongside the main book. I also love the author's lively writing style, which made it a joy to read!
A solid book about the basics of writing a self-help book. It is not particularly different from others like it, but it is nevertheless helpful in its advice.

I wanted to be an author since my sophomore year in high school, and I’ve seen a few books that can help me become one. This book is kind of helpful too. It gives you ideas of what to put in each chapter, and also suggests that you give your book a catchy title. As the title says, it will help you get everything done within ten days. I would recommend this book to young first time authors who can’t think about what to write about.
