An interesting premise exploring a haunted house that isn't quite haunted, a main character with ESP that causes her more problems than help, and a romantic interest that ticks off pretty much every box on the list (he listens!). Looking for Love in All the Haunted Places is a feel good romance without any real threat or drama, perfect if you're looking for something cosy with a slight spooky (but still soft) edge.

This book caught my eye with its captivating cover and intriguing premise—a romance set in a haunted house. Lucky Hart, a charming young psychic, lands the role of caretaker for the eerie Hennessee House, hoping to break the curse of failed attempts by previous caretakers. Her initial interactions with the house’s owner, Xander, seem to set up a classic romantic tension, but the story takes an unexpected turn.
Instead of Xander, Lucky finds herself drawn to Maverick Phillips, whose reserved and cautious nature contrasts sharply with Lucky’s cheeky demeanor. The character dynamics, including Lucky’s interactions with Maverick’s daughter, Rebel, add some depth, though the relationships within the production team feel underdeveloped.
While Lucky’s character didn’t fully engage me and Maverick’s name felt mismatched for his personality, the book’s setting and premise offered a quirky, enjoyable read.
3.5/5.

I came across "Looking for Love in All the Haunted Places" by chance while browsing for new books and immediately fell in love with this cute cover! How cute can a cover be! I was in the mood for a sweet supernatural story and thought I would find it in Claire Kann's latest novel.
Unfortunately, I didn't get into the story at all. For me, the dialog was pretty cringeworthy, especially in the beginning. A lot of things didn't quite make sense to me either. Does the protagonist really have supernatural powers or does she just think she does? In general, there was no spark between me and Lucky and I couldn't really make friends with her. This also applied to the other characters that have been introduced so far - except for Rebel! Rebel is Maverick's daughter and quite sweet and bright.
In the end, however, I decided to abandon the book. I just didn't enjoy it and I was always struggling.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Sweet, heartbreaking, and comforting all in once book. Lucky Hart was a fantastic main character, funny, brave, and just flawed enough for us to consider her a genuine person. Such a wonderful story about the impressions you make on people, or houses, in your life, and what is worth fighting for. Fantastic!

I wish I had loved this more - I think I just had different expectations of it to what it turned out to be. I think I wanted a bit more spookiness? It was a lot lighter than I was expecting, but I just wanted a bit more of the "Haunted Places" that we're promised in the title. I think I really struggled to connect with the main character Lucky - I just couldn't bring myself to care all that much about her, and the romance fell completely flat for me - I didn't feel any chemistry between Lucky and Maverick, and I think it would've made for a far more interesting romance if Xander had been the love interest. Everything about this book just felt very surface-level and lackluster, although I did appreciate the conversations in here about asexuality, which isn't often depicted in romance books.

Claire Kann’s newest book, Looking for Love in all the Haunted Places, was a cute romantic comedy with elements of cozy mystery and paranormal. Main character Lucky Hart has a unique talent to be able to read people on first eye contact (akin to ESP), and hopes she has caught her big break when she gets hired to become the caretaker for a new reality TV series featuring an old mansion that has ‘scared’ off the previous applicants. However, she ends up finding more than she plans when sparks fly with one of the production team members (and she finds out the house most definitely has a mind of its own).
The prospect of a sentient house was what initially drew me to this book, and Hennessee House did not disappoint. One of my favorite lines from the book about the house is “There was a fine line between annoying and spooky - the house won either way.” While Lucky and Maverick are the main characters of the book, it felt like the house rounded out the trio and became the third main character at times. I really enjoyed its personality and getting to learn about its history. I also enjoyed getting to discover the true mystery of why the house has been acting the way it did with previous caretakers, and how Lucky ultimately ended up being different.
Maverick and Lucky were very relatable characters. I loved getting to see their romance play out, especially because Lucky identifies on the asexual spectrum. They had some great conversations about how their relationship might work (given that Maverick is not asexual, and also has a very adorable energetic daughter), and it was so nice to see those open lines of communication throughout the story.
My one complaint about the book was how disjointed it felt at times. Despite how enjoyable I found the characters and the premise, I struggled to get through the book. The pace wasn’t consistent, and the action hopped around to different places too much for my tastes (as amusing as the side quest for a birthday gift for Rebel was, I would have preferred the action stay in the physical vicinity of Hennessee House as that was the more compelling storyline)
Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I will definitely check out more books from this author in the future. This book would be perfect for fans of Hallmark Channel mysteries, or those who enjoy low stakes stories featuring scenes mirroring everyday life with just a hint of supernatural woven in.

Overall, I enjoyed the bones of the story but think it would have been better suited without the "romance" and just left as a book on the supernatural.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, but I really liked it. A production company is filming a reality series about a haunted house called Hennessy House. There’s a prize for anyone who can spend 30 days and nights there. The first 3 candidates lasted no more than 2 nights.
Enter Lucky, a psychic who needs the money and isn’t afraid of anything. She enters the house with a different attitude, she wants to find out what the house wants from its caretaker. She also didn’t count on a romance with the show’s single dad producer, Maverick who has an adorable daughter. Is it possible for a house to be jealous?
I’m intrigued that the supernatural aspect of the book is from the house itself, instead of from occupants of the house. I enjoyed reading about the house’s personality and quirks, and I liked the characters surrounding it. 4 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I can't wait for the spooky season were I can tell all my customers to buy this!
Thank you for the trigger warning in the beginning.
For me it still was an adorable and fun read!
I loved to see Lex open up, more and less, and reading this book felt exactly like Lex feeling in the dog eared!!
I'm gonna look forward to more from Claire Kann

a web series to discover the mysteries behind a supposedly haunted Victorian home.
Almost nothing scares Lucky Hart. With a bit of rationality and her ability to “read” people by making eye contact, Lucky isn’t at all afraid of the infamous Hennessee House, a three-story Victorian home that’s sent curious trespassers and former inhabitants screaming. Instead, she’s curious to learn the ins and outs of the place, what makes it tick, and just which of its supposedly supernatural happenings are real...or not. That’s why when Lucky hears about The Caretaker, a found-footage haunted house web series, she jumps at the chance to audition to become Hennessee House’s latest occupant. A self-described “ESP girlie,” she hopes that by uncovering this house’s age-old mystery, she can finally prove herself to be a legitimate supernatural researcher. All she needs to do is remain within the grounds for 30 days—how hard can it be? The first night of her stay, Lucky meets Maverick Phillips, a crew member on The Caretaker and host of another popular investigative series. After the three previous caretakers took off within days of their arrival, Maverick feels responsible for ensuring Lucky’s safety, but as the weeks progress, the two begin to grow closer. And the house begins to react to Lucky’s presence with overwhelming smells of peppermint, levitating flowers, specters, and more. She can’t help but wonder if Hennessee is trying to tell her something: Is she clashing with the house, or is it somehow making her powers stronger? Kann’s latest novel is a page-turner with a captivating heroine, supernatural scares, and a sprinkling of romance. Lucky is a dynamic character with drive and an inquiring mind who also happens to be asexual, and her burgeoning relationship with Maverick is lovingly and expertly explored by Kann. When the house begins its haunting, Lucky won’t stray from her principles—and the reader will stay with her until the end.
A hauntingly unique tale of love, ghosts, and adventure.

This was such a great read!!! I've only read one book from this author which I believe was debut which I wasn't 100% with but this was much better, I love a good haunted story and this was no exception, I dove straight into it and actually read it in one day which is rare for me these days. The characters were well written and the chemistry between everyone was fantastic I loved the friendships that were made in the process!

Thank you NetGalley for this wonderful ARC. This book is perfect if you want a quick, cosy/spooky read with a cute slow-burn romance.
Lucky is a fun, unique character with ESP abilities. She gets a new job as a caretaker of the “haunted” Hennessee house, working with a tv production team who are trying to undercover the mysteries behind the houses paranormal activity. While uncovering more about the house and herself, she also gets to know more about the team. Her main focus though lands on the actor Maverick and his sweet, adventurous daughter Rebel. As she starts to fall for Maverick she starts to wonder if discovering more about the paranormal and building her career is the only thing she wants by the end of this mystery….
I’m a huge fan of paranormal stories and I love how Claire Kann added the element of romance in with the story to make this a heartfelt, cosy read. The characters were easily likeable and it was sweet to see how their relationships with Lucky developed over time. I especially enjoyed reding about Lucky’s relationship with Mavericks daughter, Rebel. Rebel was brave, adventurous and like her name, very rebellious when it came to following the rules. This fit perfectly with Lucky’s character as she was not one to follow the rules either and their relationship was sweet and heartwarming to witness.
The relationship between Maverick and Lucky was slow-paced and very heartwarming to read about, Their communication was full of understanding and patience and they both worked really well together! However, sometimes I would get a little lost in the conversations they would have and would need to reread a few times to understand what was happening. This made me lose interest at times but I still enjoyed all other parts of the book.
As for Hennessee house, the secrets and mystery were really fun to explore and there was times when I was really creeped out by the house!! The haunted concept was really intriguing and was the main focus for me and the most enjoyable parts were when Lucky was using her ability and exploring the house.
Overall this was a cute, spooky read which I would definitely recommend if you want a paranormal story with a romantic element to it!!

I really liked this book! The haunting aspect could have featured a bit more, but it was very nicely done and I loved the plot twist of the house just being lonely, just like the main character was.
The romance was a bit flat from time to time and I do feel they notched it up a bit too quick, but they were very cute and I was really rooting for them.

A positive read with interesting characters (house included). While it wasn’t quite my sort of thing, this was slightly spooky and cosy and if that’s your sort of vibe then I’d recommend giving it a go.

I loved the House, I wanted to know more about the House as it's the main non human character and the most intriguing.
I also loved Lucky, her will to find a place in the world and how she fight. I think I appreciated her character arc and how she related to her gifts.
The plot is well done, quite slow at the beginning and faster after some chapters.
I found the paranormal part more interesting than the romance but this is a matter of taste.
Can't wait to read another story by this author.

Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

A sweet romance (we love an asexual protagonist) with a fun premise and lots of entertaining references. Predictable but in a good way, with characters who talk things through and are emotionally intelligent, which is always pleasing.

I love love love paranormal stories, and I haven’t read many paranormal romances specifically but I am very excited about the idea of combining two of my favourite genres together. This was soft, cosy and heartwarming. I really enjoyed it!
I also loved the unexpected asexual representation. It read as a great introduction for people who aren’t familiar with asexuality and it offers a lot of information, at least on Lucky’s personal relationship with asexuality and how it affects her partnership with Maverick.
As for the relationship between Maverick and Lucky, it was slow burn (my favourite) and realistic. I liked that we got to follow them as they developed and worked out the kinks in how their relationship is going to work. I enjoy when good communication is displayed. They had a LOT of conversation, discussing all kinds of things, and I loved that Maverick never forgot to keep putting his daughter Rebel first.
The ‘haunted’ house (read it to find out more!) was really fun and at times heartbreaking too. It added a fun twist to the story.
It had a bit of a slow start, I had a difficult time getting into it at first, but after around the 40% mark I started to get into it a lot more and really enjoyed it after that. For people who love a bit of a build up, this is for you.
Thank you to Netgalley and publishers for the eArc, I loved it!

DNF at 21%, 3 stars because I didn't finish it and it seems unfair to go lower than that.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC, unfortunately it wasn't for me.
I really tried but I just found this incredibly boring. The haunted house didn't really feel very haunted, the main characters were likable enough I guess but I didn't feel much of a connection to them and I think they're supposed to be in their late 20s/30s but it felt like reading about teenagers with insta lust.
The constant phone calls were so boring, nothing really happened other than the MC staying in her room and phone calls?? The magic, for want of a better word, element was kind of confusing it felt like being dropped in the middle of a story not the beginning.
Now I can acknowledge 21% isn't much so maybe I gave up to soon but I won't force myself to find out if nothing has happened so far.

I really wanted to love this one. I was really excited about it because I love paranormal romance and I was really excited to read a book with ACE representation. However, this book just moved too slowly for me. I put this one down and came back to it and just couldn't make it all the way through. I think this book will be a good fit for readers who don't mind a slow paced mystery. I enjoyed the characters but I just needed more answers and action.

I love any kind of cosy, magical, spooky books and this was perfect.
It was such a positive read, so cute and has a nice pace that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I know I'll be revisiting this in autumn to get those spooky vibes!
Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for the eARC.
