I absolutely love the artwork of the SubZero webtoon. It's been a few years since I began reading the story online, and I was thrilled to hear that it was finally making it's way to paper form out in the world. I hope that it means this gorgeous art and interesting story will reach an even wider audience now. While I'm not a huge fan of the romance initially, the characters grow and backstories shed light on some of the behaviours. The political struggles are believable and feel realistic for the world that has been created. I have a love/hate relationship with the dragons in that they are beautifully drawn, but annoy me as characters. I look forward to future volumes continuing this story further.

if you want an anime romeo and juliet graphic novel that is easy to read, then this will be perfect for you. I found it a little too simple and not enough exposition for my taste.

thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for gifting me with a free review copy. all opinions are my own honest views.

One of the best Webtoon I have read, along with Lore Olympus!
I was thrilled when I heard that this webtoon was FINALLY going to be published! I was hooked from the very first page, by the illustrations, the story and (above all) the characters! I discovered this story online a few years ago and it was a pleasure to dive back into these early episodes. If you like love triangles, dragons, slow burn, enemies to lovers and, above all, stubborn (but very charming) characters, then you've come to the right place! The construction of the main relationship is brilliant, really, and you'll want to find out what happens next straight away (be warned, the wait will be unbearable...)!

I'M IN LOVEEEE!!!

I absolutely utterly in love with this story because I love dragons lore and enemies to lovers trope. Oh boy, do I want to slap the crimson dragon himself sometimes? Yes I do but gods, his past story was darker than I thought. I just want him to have a nice civil conversation with Clove before he misunderstands anything again. I feel the angst in my bones and I just knew that Clove is harbouring something very dangerous secret related to her dragon Azure and her people. What can I say? Something evil and deadly is waiting for a right moment to strike Red and Azure. Though I wonder what had happened to make them hate each other. I'm soo ready for the Volume 2 because this story is a NEED!!

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC :)
This story follows Princess Clove as she is arranged to marry Prince Kyro to end a 300 year old feud between the two dragon clans. If they want peace within their lands, they must first unite in not only marriage, but at heart and become allies; but it seems like there are others that will do what they must to prevent that from happening.

My experience with the novel: I loved the storyline, although I can tell there might be more politics with the romantic banter. I'm not one for following political storylines, but if you enjoy that, then you're going to love this webtoon turn manga! Honestly, I will continue reading to the next book, because I'm already invested, and I have fallen in love with the characters. I want to know what happens between Clove & Kyro! Although, it seems that there might be a love triangle on Clove's side, with one jealous ex girlfriend on Kyro's side. Let the drama begin!
I would totally recommend this to older teens & adults that enjoy romantic webtoons turned manga.

I would tag this as: fantasy- political- dragons- enemies to lovers- arrange marriages- romance- love triangle- graphic novel- manga

I devoured this book in one night.
A very light but captivating story that not only kept me intrigued from the first page to the last but left me wanting to jump to its sequel as soon as possible. However, all my praises were stolen by the incredible artistic talent of its author. The art in these pages is such a delight! It's absolutely beautiful.
I have very little experience with graphic novels/comics, but this Webtoon hit me in my core. It has everything I like: enemies to lovers, a brooding prince, DRAGONS...
It's not exactly like Akatsuki no Yona, but it has the vibe... iykyk. I also recommend it for all of us who fell in love with Tairn in Forth Wing 🙃

Thanks to NetGalley for giving me an eARC in exchange for an honest review 🩵

This had everything I love in a graphic novel all wrapped up together in one plot - action, banter, politics and romance. I read this in one sitting and could NOT put it down. I cannot wait for volume 2!

The art illustrations are incredible and the boys are so dreamy 🤭🤭

I love Clove’s character, she’s brave, willing to do anything for her people, knows how to play the part and win people over, is kind, brave and tactful.

I love that we’re getting a little bit of tension with the bad boy and the good boy. I’m so interested to see where this goes next! I think fans of Yona of the Dawn may really enjoy this.

I did get a little mixed up with just a few of the panels and just what order to read them in, but that might be me more of a me thing and it wasn’t anything major.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read a digital copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I've been following this webcomic since the beginning on Webtoon Originals & it was so great to re-read the story in this format. If you enjoy enemies to lovers, Asian themed stories, dragon shifters, court politics & a slow burn romance- SubZero is for you! I also loved the character profiles the author added as bonus content. I'm very excited to get this hardcopy & pre-order Volume 2!

Thank you to Oni Press and NetGalley for an early digital copy of this graphic novel. This review is my honest feedback and given voluntarily.

Overall this wasn’t a bad start to this series/comic. Nice cozy read with great illustration. I did feel like there was a bit of background context missing but it wasn’t really a big deal for me. The illustration was beautiful and I really loved the color themes for the character groups. I had not read this comic on Webtoons prior to reading this volume of the novel version, so the whole story was new to me. I did feel like the story itself did not really progress all that much for the length of this first volume, but the amount of illustration we get is quite a lot, and honestly, for a graphic novel, I’m ok with that. I’m here for the illustration so I’m kind of appreciative of that being more at the forefront.

I look forward to seeing where this story goes, as there seems to be some more layers hidden just under the surface that are about to pop off in the next volume/episodes. I would definitely recommend as one to read for those looking to get into graphic novels or those looking for an interesting yet mysterious story with some healthy tension between characters. Enjoy!

Slow burn enemies to lovers, mmm. Readers are immediately aligned with Princess Clove, the blue dragon, as she moves from her homeland and is betrothed to the ruthless Crimson Dragon, Prince Kyro. It’s difficult not to be enthralled as the Prince and Princess navigate each other, the 300 year resentment of their kingdoms, their royal duties, and the confusing feelings that are blooming. As the story continues, the character growth and development is fascinating, although it does initially run into tired YA tropes like unrequited (and requited) love triangles. Towards the end of this book, we see subplots unravel and side characters shift into beloved characters, which readers will eagerly learn more about in subsequent volumes.

This first volume gives us a little introduction and background to the full story yet to come and I have to say I really love the premise.
The art is pretty good too and I think the characters are all loveable. The FMC (Clove) and MMC (Kyro) are pretty mature and take things in a good way, there was no miscommunication/misunderstanding type tropes at all even which I loved. Zephyr (the horse) is such a cutie, I can't wait to see more of his antics in the coming volumes. I do however feel like the story is slightly rushed and would have preferred a little more friction and banter between the main characters seeing as to how their kingdoms have been in war for the past 300 years or so. All in all, I loved this volume and can't wait for future volumes.

I LOVED SUBZERO VOLUME 1. I actually keep up with it on WEBTOON and I’m so excited to be able to purchase it soon! The pictures were clear and the original plot line was included. Very happy with the result and definitely worth the read!

I am completely new to SubZero. I had never heard of it before requesting a review copy. And while it definitely wasn't what I was expecting, it was fun, beautiful, entertaining, and a little bit steamy. In the chapters contained within volume one, I found myself enjoying all of the characters and their unique designs as well as vibrant personalities. The enemy romance between Clove and Kyro is quite entertaining since it's very clear Kyro is a massive dickhead but totally head over heels for her. I think my favourite character was Kyro's sister, Kharis. She was fun, beautifully drawn, and hilarious, while also being genuinely caring and a little scheming. My only critique is that I didn't really feel the chemistry between Clove and Aaron, not when she and Kyro had such immediate sparks. I'm interested to see what happens with the war council, Clove's fading Cerulean dragon tattoo, and the romance between our two leads.

I used to subscribe to Webtoon and read internet comics to my heart's content. I recently stopped that practice because I got tired of waiting for weekly releases instead of one giant story all at once. I did briefly read SubZero before it was traditionally published. I still remembered some elements of the story, but it was nice to revisit the series with fresh eyes. This comic had beautiful colors and delicious artwork. I liked the chemistry between the main characters, but the first volume was way too slow. There was a lot of dialogue for a visual novel. The first collection ended at the strangest spot. Nothing happened other than the couple meeting with a lot of sexual tension. I don't believe I'll continue with this series, but it was wonderful to take a stroll down memory lane. This comic may have been called SubZero, but it was absolutely smoldering!

Very engaging story! I read this first book and went on webtoon to check recent chapters and it’s amazing to see the artwork has really evolved as the story progressed. I can’t wait to read more of the volumes as they come out.

i don’t normally read graphic novels so the format took a little getting used to. the illustrations were pretty.

the story was very fast paced and i felt like i was missing exposition and background on the characters within the story, which made it so i wasn’t invested in them. i did appreciate the notes for each character at the end, but i felt like they came too late. the main character, clove, was the typical damsel in distress trope with every male character falling for her. there was no explanation for why the two courts were at war, why the marriage between clove and kyro had to happen, or who their common enemy is who made them have to become allies. to put it simply, i was confused.

this story wasn’t for me - it felt a little immature and simple and felt like it was missing an actual story. maybe the things i find issue with are actually common themes or practice in graphic novels and i just didn’t get it. this is why im being more generous in my review than i’d normally be

Subzero is the start of a graphic novel series focused on two royals from rival clans forced into an unwanted arranged marriage in order to bring peace not seen for hundreds of years.

The art is beautiful, easily the best part of this. The story is interesting, but parts felt rushed, random, or unorganized. I wish we would have slowed down to better introduce everyone and all the plot threads. The characters were also a little inconsistent. Overall, the story is interesting, and I'm excited to see where it goes.

I didn't realize this was a published WebToon comic, but I love it! A great story with a storyline that clips along at a good pace filled with action packed intrigue and a bit of angst.

SubZero has such stunning artwork and a very entertaining storyline. This is a fast paced fantasy romance about two dragon shifters from separate clans at war. Clove and Kyro have been influenced to marry to make peace between the two clans. There is enemies to lovers tension with a possible love triangle.🤭This volume brings Clove into her enemies clan as she uncovers more of Kyro’s family and their politics. I really loved seeing them interact and was left wanting more of them!! Clove is super sweet and her friendships with others is heartwarming. I’m excited to learn more of Clove’s family/clan in upcoming volumes. She has many mysteries left.I will definitely be reading the next volumes!!

Thank you so much for SubZero ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review
