That's the first book that I read from this series, and I'm pleasant surprised.
It took a long biography and reduced it to a quick, inspiring story for children. I really liked how it highlighted Stan Lee's love for reading and telling stories.
And the quick timeline and the end of the book is a really nice touch.
As a comic book fan I would like to see more of Stan's creations in this book, but I understand that it has to be short and easy to comprehend.
Great addition to the series.
Another great hit from the awesome series of biographies for kids - "Little People, BIG DREAMS". I especially likes how the illustration started, a bit reminiscent of an actual comic book, I just wished it continued that way throughout the book.
Nonetheless, a nice book. A bit hurried as a biography, but a fun read anyway. And I did not know Stan Lee's parents were Romanian Jews.
This text is a brilliant credit to Stan Lee and his accomplishments, but it's layout and illustrations demonstrate his story over time in a way that is engaging and light. Rather than simply focus on his career, this work develops who Stan Lee, the man, was across it's portrayal of his decisions and successes related to family. It would be a worthwhile text to use with any young or developing reader to help them understand how to portray narrative works quickly and with depth that speaks to the audience.
Pretty cool illustrations. Nice and short but to the point. A book that most definitely would appeal to the younger generation who want to learn about Stan Lee.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book about Stan Lee, I am a huge fan of Stan Lee's work and this book was great to show my girls who Stan Lee was and what his vision was.
Thank you once again, I recommend this book for anyone who wants to show their kids who Stan Lee was.
This is a book from a series of biographies of famous people for children with a lot of illustrations. In this case, we read about Stan Lee, who has become one of the most famous people in the world of comics. The story (text) itself is not bad, it is worth reading for children who are interested in superheroes, although I would like to know more about Stan's creations because there is very little information in this book. Also, those illustrations don't look like Stan Lee at all, and that's a shortcoming in my opinion as well. However, once again, I advise children to read it, because that way they can learn something about this comic creator in a very easy way.
You always learn something new from this series of books.
Fun engaging snippets of information with bright colourful illustrations. Doesn't matter who the person is, if it is part of this series I'll read it.
Stan Lee is one of the many picture book biographies I have read in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series. Written with kids in mind by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, encouraging them to dream, she makes the point again and again that most of the famous people you read and hear about started in humble circumstances--just kids! She wants kids to dream big.
So, you know, this is about Stan Lee, one of the comics greats of all time. Like so many of the bios, they would not be known or cared about by little kids--Dylan, Dickens, Einstein, are mostly adult interests, so they know who will be buying these books, but as a comics guy I do like the story of Stanley Lieber who became Stan Lee, and kids would know some of the MU films. Thank you to NetGalley, Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and the author for the ARC!
Enjoyable read that covers one of my favorite childhood creators.
This new title in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series focuses on a much beloved comic writer, Stanley Lieber aka Stan Lee. The art is very interesting and engaging, with the background characters making funny faces as pages go on. The coloring is bold and energetic and I think this one matches the cover very well!
My only criticism could be the one dimensional narration of the book and how they don't include his stories/the original art of his comics at all, making the book a little flat.
Overall it's short, sweet and fun to read!
Another great addition to the Little People, Big Dreams Series! My children are huge Spiderman fans, so this is a must have book for them. The illustrations are wonderful. I thought I knew a fair bit about Stan Lee, but I did learn new facts too! I would recommend this book to any Marvel loving family.
This is a fun addition to the “Little People, Big Dreams” series of children’s books. Since comics and superheros are not my normal genre, I found this to be very interesting information about Stan Lee. Kids and adults alike will enjoy this brief history of how Stan got started.
Little People, BIG DREAMS is a bestselling biography series for kids that explores the lives of outstanding people who achieved incredible things. One such individual is Stan Lee, one of the genius minds behind iconic characters like Spider-Man, The Hulk, and Iron Man.
Stan Lee's journey began with writing stories in his bedroom, eventually leading to help with the creation of a fictional universe loved around the world. His creative passion for storytelling, including creating such characters as Stan Lee himself, propelled him into not only the limelight of the comic book industry but into pop culture in general. Through his work at Marvel Comics, he helped revolutionized the superhero genre and brought diverse characters to life that resonated with audiences of all ages.
The Little People, BIG DREAMS series presents Stan's life story in an easy-to-read and fun way for young readers. The book not only highlights his achievements but also encourages children to follow their dreams and pursue their creative passions. By showcasing Lee's perseverance and dedication to his craft, it serves as an inspiration for the next generation of writers and artists.
We have personally read many biographies based around the life of Stan Lee in different formats including long-form books as well as graphic novels. Each book has their own unique way of telling the story of the comic book legend, but none have really focused on the younger generation. This hits close to home as we have a three-year-old son at home that loved reading along.
The Little People, BIG DREAMS: Stan Lee book is wonderfully written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara with artwork from illustrator Ana Albero to give us a creative way to teach younger readers about Stan Lee.
This is a great graphic biography of Stan Lee for very young readers. It breaks down his youth to development of some of the most popular characters in pop culture. Vibrant, full-page pictures present various aspects that helped make Stanley, Stan Lee for children curious about the creator of some popular characters.
Once again, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara impresses with her "Little People, BIG DREAMS" series, known for its engaging biographies. Although I'm not a big comic book fan, Stan Lee's story grabbed my attention. The book combines entertainment with useful information, including real photos and interesting facts that both kids and adults will enjoy. It's a delightful read for comic book lovers, offering a peek into the life of the legendary creator behind many beloved characters.
I loved it and highly recommend it to others. A huge thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book!.
Another great edition to a fabulous series of books!
Although I knew who Stan Lee was, I didn't really know too much about him so everything in this book was new information to me.
Thank you so much Quarto Kids/ Francis Lincoln Children's and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
This was amazing, I didn’t know about how Stan Lee started and it was really fascinating to learn exactly how he started his career, his dreams. I love that he’d always had this dream within him to write but he never realised how important what he was going to write would be.
He created so many characters, worlds and superhero’s that have meant so much to so many people, it gave people a comforting place to be. To see these regular people he created become superhuman and save the day. His work has been and always will be inspiring and comforting for many.
I really enjoyed getting to learn more about him through this book, young children would enjoy reading about him, what he does many children dream of doing, so to see how he managed to do it, where he started will help inspire them to continue making their own pieces of work, writing, comics.
I love Stan Lee and the universe he created. I was so excited for the opportunity to read this and I love it. I will be purchasing a physical copy of this one.
As with all the books in this series, it highlights the person's childhood to where they are now. The series shares the inspirations, ups and downs that the person it is about went through. With this one about Stan Lee, it talks about his love of reading when he was a child and how he took that and turned it into a career. He wanted to create characters that were amazing and super but also as average as anyone else. Obviously, he was very successful in this. The book goes on to show how his comics and stories were turned into movies and how he always loved sneaking in a little role for himself, which is one of my favourite parts of the Marvel movies.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Marvel or has a little one who is.
Here we have a great book gift to a younger comic lover because who doesn't need to get to know the man, the legend and the myth himself Stan Lee.
One of the new books in this series is about the father to our beloved superheroes Spider-Man, Hulk and Thor to name a few.
If you know a young comic lover or is one yourself and have a kid or know someone who has a kid then this is a really good gift.
Since my own daughter loves Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe I'm praying that this one will come out in Swedish so we can add it to her book collection of Little People, BIG DREAMS.
It's a great biography book for young children to learn about celebrities. Has amazing illustrations across every single page. Great book for a primary school library when researching celebrities.
wow I didn’t know any of this about Stan Lee and it was a fascinating short read. I love the way this series is geared for children and yet can also be enjoyed and informative for adults as a stepping stone for learning more. Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read this
