My oldest daughter loves Marvel movies so it felt right to read this story about Stan Lee! I love biographies geared towards children because it helps them learn (and honestly I learn a lot too) and connect with things they love!
Stan Lee was so smart and a great creator. I thoroughly enjoyed this and so did my littles. We have read it a few times!
What a cute book for children! The story of Stan Lee, beautifully written for children to understand, could help foster a love of reading. Love the book stand mentioned - how is that not a normal part of everyday life now?! Also loved that his wife was mentioned, showing her support as well as her ideas.
It’s part of a great series that has had many other noteworthy individuals over the years and fits perfectly in.
Great addition for classrooms or home collections alike.
It was a very colorful and interesting book.Stan Lee is such an icon of the modern world our kids need to know him.He made us love all these super heroes.Must have book for every superhero lover.
Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.
The Little People, BIG DREAMS series focuses on average people who achieve great things. The book does a good job covering important stages of Stan Lee's life without making it overwhelming, while also making it easy to understand. This would be a great choice for a younger reader who's interested in comics, especially Marvel.
The latest addition to the Little People Big Dreams series details the life of Marvel creator Stan Lee. This book has a different illustrator to normal, the artwork is more simplistic, but it works for the story of a comic book creator. Well written, with just the right level of detail for the target audience.
It's wonderful to see an effort to teach kids likely too young to care, who Stan Lee was. It's an admirable effort, and the information is fairly accurate, if sparse.
Unfortunately I doubt this is doing enough to stand out aesthetically for much of anyone to pick up on notice. The art is unremarkable and average, even for children's book. It's not likely to catch the eye, and probably not going to keep a young child's attention even for it's short pages count.
At a distance, you wouldn't think "STAN LEE". The title is tiny, and he's missing his trademark 'stache. It's more like than not to go unnoticed in discount bins. The heart is in the right place, but the production isn't.
Such a cute book illistatrations are top notch
i cannot wait to collect all these when i have a child
I think this book was very informative.
I learned a lot about Stan Lee and I really am a big fan of his.
The art wasn't really my style but maybe that's just a personal opinon.
I really enjoyed this one and the kids thought it was fantastic. Everything about these books are kid friendly. From the way they are written to the lovely illustrations. I look forward to reading more. TBR and Enjoy!
I'm pretty sure that I was more excited for this one than my son was haha I was so excited to be granted this ARC for the next installment of Little People, Big Dreams. I am a big Marvel fan, so it was fun to read about Stan Lee and see his life as a young adult to when he got the spark for all of his comic book characters. This will definitely be a book that my son and I will read for a long time, and he will gain a larger appreciation for Stan Lee as he grows up.
A special thank you to NetGalley, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
I will admit, I don't know a ton about Stan Lee. I know he was involved with the comic book world, but that's about it. That is one reason that I wanted to read this book. This book is an enjoyable book both for children (who the book is written for) and Stan Lee adult super fans. I thought this book was easy and enjoyable.

In another installment of Little People, Big Dreams, readers learn about the iconic Stan Lee. The book takes you through his time as a young adult when the writing bug was first discovered. Then, we travel through his beginnings in the publishing world and how he established himself as a writer. I enjoyed learning about his start and how it influenced all of the superhero stories I have come to love. There were a few times when it jumped in the story, and I felt I had to go back and see if I skipped a page. That’s the reason for only four stars.
A fun illustrated look at the life of the famous comics creator, Stan Lee.
My son is 8 and while this book was a little young for him, he enjoyed this glimpse into the life of a man who he looks up to. My kid already makes his own comics and aspires to have his work on the big screen one day. Reading this book helped him to see that Stan Lee has done this so he certainly can to if he wants.
I loved the glimpses into Stan Lee's life from childhood to military and onward. Seeing in small ways how he was influenced to create the well known and loved characters like Spider-man and Hulk was inspiring and fun.
🦹 I really love these Little People, Big Dreams books!
🦸 Today’s book features Stan Lee, the visionary creator of many of the beloved superheroes that children (and adults) love today!
🦹♀️ This biography of Stan’s life will be interesting to children, particularly those who love the Marvel superheroes. The pages are covered with colorful and fun illustrations, supported by age-appropriate information about Stan’s life, ambitions, and accomplishments. Plus, there are photographs and a timeline of Lee’s life in the back of the book.
🦸🏻♀️ I personally loved how the book emphasized that Lee created human superheroes with flaws and worries and problems just like the rest of us, and that you don’t always need superpowers to be a superhero.
Thank you @Netgalley @QuartoKids and @FLCbooks for an eArc of this book, which I have read and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Possibly one of my favourite little people big dreams book to date! There is so much more to Stan Lee than Marvel which this book shows. Loved the illustrations of this book too.
I love the cover of this upcoming entry in the excellent Little People, Big Dreams series. The illustrations and story inside were also appealing.
I may be in the minority but I did not know who Stan Lee was before reading this title. (a reminder that children’s books can teach adults as well). Now, I can be impressed by what he did.
Readers learn how Stan went from being a kid with his nose always in a book to someone who wrote and created comics. The characters that Stan dreamed up have been very popular, in part because, although they are super heroes, they are also human. That humanity comes across as does Stan’s desire to give something back.
Here is a title to add to a home library that is hopefully filled with many titles by this author.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.
Part of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series, this book focuses on Stan Lee, a famous writer in the comic book genre. I knew the name, but didn't know much about his background. This brief biography gives all the highlights of how he turned his dream into reality. An inspirational journey. On the downside, I wasn't super enthusiastic about the illustrations, I found them a bit too raw and unrefined. But otherwise, it's nice and entertaining.
Just the kind of book children love to read - a true life tale of the man who created many of their favourite superheroes. His legacy lives on through this book, his comic creations and his movie appearances. This shows children that there's a magic behind the creation of these superheroes. One to add to the collection of biographies in this series.
This is a fab picture book all about the life of the Comic Book writer Stan Lee. He always dreamt about writing a book, and enter a newspaper competition and worked in publishing before he ever had anything published himself. He got a chance to write some text for a Captain America story, and kept going even writing and sending stories to his publisher when he was a soldier in WW2. He came up with the Fantastic Four when working with Jack Kirby after the war and then Spiderman with Steve Ditko and of course many other superheroes that we all know and love.
This series never fails to disappoint! I honestly don't think there has been a miss in the whole run. My 7-year-old loves them, and this one especially. As a big comics/superhero fan, he really enjoyed the relatability of Stan Lee in his early life and how he was just a normal kid who loved reading and ended up redefining comics as we know them.
