The Plot Twist is a light-hearted and fun read that draws you in from the first page. With endearing characters who you really root for and want to get their happily ever after. It’s a lovely slow-burn romance that leaves you smiling.

I wanted to get around to reading ‘The Plot Twist’ as soon as I could after loving ‘The Love Interest’ a few months ago!

Now we get to know Stevie who is featured in Victoria’s previous book; The Love Interest. She just found a job in publishing but what she doesn’t count on is her boss being her ex boyfriend, Noah. Can she navigate a new job and an uncomfortable situation?

Oh wow I absolutely loved this book which is a follow on from The Love Interest but can also be read as a standalone. I couldn’t wait to get to know Stevie a lot more who is Liv’s best friend. Who doesn’t love a book about books, and this is no different. It gave me an insight into the publishing world.

I loved the whole second chance romance, it’s one of my favourite tropes. I adored the chemistry between Stevie and Noah, this was also a slow burn as neither of them want to get hurt.

I very much recommend you grab a copy of ‘The Plot Twist’ which is in fact full of twists and turns, friendship, second chance romance full of banter, and of course soulmates 🥰💖

I can’t wait to read more of Victoria’s backlist and any and all future books she writes. I was captivated from the beginning and flew through this story in a few days 🫶🏻

In this fun modern romance, bookworm Stevie Phillips has just landed a job at a publishing company in London, but her first day coincides with a takeover, a new, unfortunately familiar, boss, and the firing of the entire publicity team. Now directly working for and closely with her ex-boyfriend Noah Anderson, they must make a new romance novel a hit in about a month -- and no one else at the company wants to work on this project. As the publicity campaign progresses, Stevie and Noah, in close proximity, have to deal with secrets about their relationship coming out that might change their working relationship and how they perceive their break up. A cheerful, fun, tropey romance novel, book fans are sure to love Walters’ latest book. Stevie, Noah, and the other characters are fun, complicated, and emotional, and the various relationships in this book are particularly charming and heart-warming. With a clever premise and some great tropes to further the plot, this is a great casual and fun read that has real heart. Readers will find themselves rooting for Stevie throughout this novel, and Walters has created an immersive and engaging read for romance fans and bookworms of all kinds.

I loved this. It is a book written about people who love books, huge bookshelves, publishers, authors and best of all, a book that mentions us, reviewers and how much we love the acknowledgement we get when someone wants us to read a copy of their book first!

Stevie is brilliant. She’s independent, knows what she wants and is pretty determined she isn’t going to take any shit from anyone, particularly not a man who walked away from her five years ago! I loved her so much. She has amazing friends, an addiction to Starbucks coffee, a cute flat and supportive parents.

Other than knowing the genre, I rarely read a book description because I’d rather go in blind than risk even a hint of a spoiler. The Plot Twist was no different, so it wasn’t until the blurb at the back that I realised the book I’d read in February (The Love Interest) was sort of the first in this series/duology and The Plot Twist focused on one of the other characters!

I cannot recommend this book enough. Romance books aren’t just for women, you do know that right? If you’re a man who also enjoys lovey-dovey movies and doesn’t mind a good cry now and then, why not try reading a romance book? You might be surprised - there might even be something in there to heighten your interest if you give it a try! Nudge, nudge, wink, wink!

I loved this sweet second chance story. Stevie walks into her first day at her dream job working for a well known publishing company in London and is shocked to learn that there has been a take over and her new boss is none other than Noah, her ex boyfriend who left her 5 years ago to work for an American publishing company. Despite the shock, hurt, and anger she feels, Stevie cannot deny that there is a powerful tension and so many unresolved feelings between them. They are both delightful people and I loved watching their journey together. Their communication seemed so healthy and natural, I loved it. I also loved learning more about the publishing and marketing of books. I read this book in less than 24 hours and found it to be the perfect camping book! 📚

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚

The Plot Twist By Victoria Walters
Publication Date: June 19, 2024
Publisher: Boldwood Books

📚MY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

📚MY REVIEW:

Please allow me to introduce to you - this is so exciting - my very first FIVE STAR ROM-COM READ!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Y'all, this was - by far - the cutest rom-com I've ever read. From the very beginning, there was just something about this book from Victoria Walters that made me fall in love with it.

I saw many reviewers talking about this book being a slow burn, and it definitely was. But you know what? It was a slow burn that really worked for me. I felt like I was watching a romantic comedy on the big screen. The slow burn manner in which this story was told allowed me to get to know the characters on a deeper level and feel more connected to the storyline. In fact, I felt as if I was cheering on my bestie as I read. And I truly LOVED the fact that a huge part of the book is centered around creating publicity and support for a romance novel when all-too-often it can feel like romance books aren't given the props they're truly due.

What I loved the most about this book though was that it was filled with a theme of second chances -- and not just second chances in love. This featured second chances in careers, second chances surrounding quick judgments about others, second chances with family, second chances for genres you may not usually read...There were second chances everywhere in this book. If you are someone who could use a little pick-me-up, a little hope, or a little optimism -- this book might just offer you that ray of sunshine you're needing today.

Listen, I'll admit: I was an initial skeptic about rom-coms. But having read a few rom-coms now, I'm no longer that same skeptic. Rom-coms make me smile. They're great palate cleansers after heavy emotional contemporary fiction or terrifyingly creepy thrillers. They're typically light-hearted and fast reads. And honestly, they just make you feel good.

If you haven't yet taken the plunge into rom-coms, I would encourage you to pick this one up. If you already love rom-coms, I sincerely hope this one makes it onto your shelf. A huge thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

The Plot Twist follows the story of Stevie, who we met in The Love Interest, and her boss and ex-boyfriend, Noah.

If you love books about books, books that feature cozy bookstores you need to read this.

Alongside the romance, it delves into what happens in publishing houses and all the emotions that come from sending a ‘manuscript’ into the world.

It was engaging and interesting from start to finish. There was much to unpack and it was fun catching up with Liv and Aiden and meeting new characters too.

I enjoyed the ‘suspense’, the feeling of not knowing what was coming next and the way everything came together.

If you love second chance romance, office romance, grumpy vs sunshine and a very London setting then you will enjoy this.

The book's premise, "Ex-boyfriend turned boss," immediately caught my attention, and I was eager to dive into the story. Stevie, the protagonist, is a career-oriented woman who's just snagged her ideal position. Meanwhile, Noah, the male lead, is a bit of a curmudgeon who's back in London for a corporate acquisition. Faced with the dilemma of working with her ex to retain her dream job or walking away to avoid heartbreak, Stevie's decision is central to the narrative.

The book's pacing was engaging, keeping me hooked throughout. I particularly enjoyed the subplot that championed the legitimacy of romance novels within the publishing industry. The one aspect that didn't quite resonate with me was the miscommunication trope used between Stevie and Noah. Overall, "The Plot Twist" is a delightful read that I'd recommend to anyone in search of a heartwarming romance. And a little tip: don't miss out on the prologue and epilogue—they're some of the most charming I've ever read, with Noah stealing the show and quite possibly, your heart.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for early access to The Plot Twist By Victoria Walters.

I hadn't read @vickyjwalters book before when I saw this but I will definitely read more after reading this. I love a second chance romance and the strong connection between Stevie & Noah made it easy for me to feel invested in their relationship throughout the story. If you are looking for a sweet will they won't they, slow burn romance then this is perfect. I really there should be a sequel to this wonderful book. @theboldbookclub #theplottwist

Aaah, happy days, this was a perfect bookworm’s read. I absolutely loved the main characters. Kept shouting at them to get a move on, but then patience is not one of my virtues. A big recommendation from me

Walking in to your first day of work and finding out your new boss is your ex-boyfriend who left 5 years ago?

The Plot Twist by @vickyjwalters was what I needed without knowing it! I had such a fun time. Thank you @netgalley @theboldbookclub for the arc🫶 Out now!

What a way to fight for romance novels to be counted as real reading and have such a cute love story and plot.

If you’re into hopeless romantic loves, a fmc who takes a stand for romance books, a mmc who stands with her and writes letters for her when they’re apart, then The Plot Twist is perfect for you! I truly loved Noah and Stevie, they were so cute together and I was definitely rooting them on from the first interaction. 🫶🌼💛✨🤭📚

- Second chance romance
- Forced proximity
- Hopeless romantics
- Workplace romance

"The Plot Twist" centers on Stevie Phillips, who starts her dream job at a publishing house only to find her new boss is her ex, Noah Anderson. With staff leaving due to a takeover, a demanding author, and a romance-hating colleague, Stevie faces multiple challenges. Passionate about defending the romance genre, she rallies her colleagues, while navigating the sizzling chemistry with Noah. The book filled with humor, romance, and industry insights, it's a must-read for book lovers.

I loved The Love Interest so I ran when I got the opportunity to read the next book in this universe, and it did not disappoint!!

The extremely slow burn, sweet, adorable story about Stevie and Noah. (Stevie is Liv's co-worker if you have read The Love Interest ~ which is not necessarily to read this one, but I would recommend it, simply because it's a great book!)

I absolutely adored the emails! So many emotions!! And the meet cute???!!!🥹🥹
The second chance, workplace romance is full of swoony, emotional and fun moments!

I am familiarized with Victoria's pace in books and tge slow burn is definitely slow, but I honestly don't mind because I enjoyed the storyline overall!
And also I think I'd give a limb to have been able to get into Noah's head and get his POV!!!

All the things, changes and feelings Stevie and Noah were going through was greatly portrayed by Victoria in her words.

WOW!!!! What can I say?!?! What another absolutely fantastic book that I fell in love with!!! I cannot wait to read even more books by this extremely talented author!

This book is beautifully written with vivid descriptions setting the picture perfectly in the readers mind. The title, description and cover works perfectly with the storyline.

Another absolutely gorgeous, fun, lovable, hilarious romcom that will have you absolutely hooked from the first page to the last!! If you have read the amazing 'The Love Interest' by this extremely talented then you will LOVE this as this fantastic book is actually Stevie's book!! If you have not read 'the Love Interest' then it makes no difference at all!! if you are a bookworm then this book really is an absolute must read as it is just full of them!! A book lovers paradise!! This book is an absolutely stunning read rammed with books, fun, romance, second chances and absolutely EVEYRHTING you can ask for and MORE!!!!!! It is an absolute rollercoaster ride of emotions filled with attitude, passion, friendship, family, romance, humour and so much more. I was completely swept away with the storyline and loved getting completely lost in the pages! The fact that a lot of the scenes are set in a publishing house is definitely a book lovers dream and getting lost in a book filled with books is just a HUGE YES from me!!! I have never actually read a book set around a publishing house so it also makes it unique as well as just absolutely epic!! I have read thousands off books so it isn't often that I come across a book with a unique storyline or setting but Victoria manages it hook, line ad sinker!!! Congratulations Victoria!! This book genuinely has everything and anything you could ask for in a rom com with enemies to lovers, books, comedy and of course romance then if your a fan of those what on Earth are you still doing here? Go grab your copy of this absolutely brilliant page tuner now. It will definitely turn a frown upside down and you wont regret it. It is an easy to read, fun story that is perfect for cuddling up with a hot chocolate on a cold day or reading on the beach while topping up your tan. It was one of those amazing books that there was no way I could put down. I was utterly glued to the pages was carrying my phone or kindle every chance that I got and each and every time I attempted to promise myself just one more chapter, well there was just no chance and I completely devoured it in one sitting!! Victoria's absolutely fantastic writing skills really pulls you into the storyline where it feels like you are standing right next to Stevie going through everything that she is. I adored the addition of a playlist that Victoria has included at the end of this book and that I had a lot of fun listening to. An absolutely brilliant idea so Thank You for that Victoria, yet again (she also does this in the fantastic 'The Love Interest'), definitely got some new favourite songs from that one! I cannot wait to get stuck into even more books by this absolutely fantastic author"" Congratulations Victoria on a stunning storyline that has definitely cheered me up and had me laughing until my eyes were streaming with tears!!

Clear your schedules as this is one gorgeous and unputdownable stunner ❤️

OMG I absolutely love, Love, LOVED these absolutely larger than life and memorable characters!!! Each and every one of them are strong, realistic and I became completely invested in them all. They all had their own problems, qualities, feelings and all had unique personalities and I just absolutely loved getting to know them all. I felt each of their love , friendship, humour, heartbreak, happiness and so much more. I absolutely loved the main protagonist Stevie who I loved meeting again after meeting her in 'The Love Interest'. Stevie is such a strong, relatable and unforgettable character. I love seeing strong female leads in books being female myself and Stevie really is a brilliant woman! The fact that she works in a publication house definitely gave her bonus points!!! I adore any book that contains anything literary in the topic and having a literary loving protagonist and a female one is definitely a big hit for me!!! I also absolutely loved meeting Liv again who was the main protagonist in 'The Love Interest'. I was not a fan of Noah when I first met him and would have quite happily given him a slap for how he treated Stevie but I wont say more about that as I will leave you to find out more for yourself. Victoria's amazing writing skills ensured I heard all of the dialogue through the pages. In fact her writing skills are so vivid and evocative it felt like I was standing right next to Stevie throughout feeling, seeing and hearing absolutely everything that she was!! I adored the interactions between all of the characters as well as Stevie and Noah, of course!! They are all amazing characters and the fact that Victoria actually cares about her characters shines through the pages. The only negatives I can give is that they are only fictional as they felt so life like when I was reading them I was gutted to come to the end and have to say goodbye and the fact that unless this is going to be made into a series , hint hint Victoria (I would love to see the other characters stories!!) or a movie then I wont see them again!! Well done Victoria on creating a great, unique and unforgettable gang of characters that i am already missing!! I cannot wait to meet more of your characters in your previous and future books!!

Congratulations Victoria on yet another absolutely gorgeous, fantastic stunner filled with everything you could one in a page turner!!! I am looking forward to reading more of your previous and future books. I would absolutely love to see this book turned into a movie!!! This is the exact reason you are on my favourite author list and here's to your next success 🥂

Overall an absolutely addictive and gorgeous book that will make you laugh and warm your heart ❤️!!!

Stevie is about to start her dream job in publishing, having found the courage to go for what she wants in life. However, her first day is not the perfect day she had dreamed of but instead she walks into an office which has just been taken over and she has a new boss, her ex-boyfriend, Noah. Forced to work together Stevie debates whether the job she has been dreaming of is worth it having to work alongside the man who broke her heart. As she learns things weren’t as they appeared when Noah ended their relationship her resolve to keep him at arms distance starts to disappear. Is it ever a good idea to get back with your ex?

I loved Stevie, as a romance book lover I felt I connected with her instantly and was rooting for her from the beginning wanting her to succeed in her new job and shouting about the brilliance of romance novels. Noah sounds like the perfect book boyfriend, under the hard exterior that he has built up there is a softness underneath. The chemistry between the two was clear from the start and you were just waiting to see it explode.

Having read Victoria’s previous romance book, The Love Interest, I had met Stevie as the side character and knew that her own story would be just as good. And a romance novel that is about a bookworm and features books heavily will always be a win to me.

This is a swoony romance celebrating love and romance fiction. What more could I book lover need? I loved it!

I love a good plot twist, so finding a book with that as its title piqued my interest immediately. It's also the first I've read by Walters, so was a great introduction to her writing style.

Sadly I've not read The Love Interest which is where we meet Stevie for the first time. I definitely will be though as I love books that have recurring characters.

The Plot Twist is an enjoyable, easy read from Walters. It's moderately paced and has one of my favourite tropes at the helm - second chance romance - can you even begin to imagine taking a job only to find one of your exes is now your boss?

All of the characters are extremely likeable and the rekindled romance between Stevie and Noah was adorable.

A highly enjoyable office romance set in a publishing house featuring books, bookstores and one of the best plot twists I've come across in a long time.
