I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review…

We have met Stevie before in a previous book called The Love Interest, she was a side character as Liv’s co-worker and it was really good to see her again and find out more about her story.

The Plot Twist features a second-chance romance trope and was super sweet and quite emotional too.

The author had a wonderful way with words that had me feeling all the same emotions as Stevie.

Stevie and Noah were just wonderful together and i could feel how strong their chemistry was right from the very beginning.

This book was a wonderful, heartwarming, feel-good romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it…..

A book about second chance love, set in the publishing industry, so books are mentioned on every page. A cute beach read summer story that is easy to read.

Oh, I was so excited to be getting this book because I loved The Love Interest and as soon as I knew Stevie was getting her own book I knew I had to read it. Stevie was a brilliant character in that book so I knew when she had her own book to romp through she would shine even brighter and make me smile so much, and I wasn't wrong but what I hadn't expected was to love Noah as much as I did. At first when we meet him, how he behaves makes him someone we don't like and I'll be honest, we want to slap him because he hurt Stevie so much and was so callus towards her but as she and we get to know his reasons for his behaviour he not only grew on me a little but I really loved him by the end. I thought the whole process of them learning to work with each other and eventually getting back together was so brilliantly paced, it never felt rushed or sudden when something happened and it's one of the things I love about Victoria Walters's writing style, her ability to pace the books just right. Her writing style in general is one I love, I always feel I can step onto the page and join in the conversations between the characters because she makes them so realistic for me.
I love how much Stevie loves Love, her whole fight for romance as a viable genre for the publishing house to spend money on was brilliant, if I could have joined in the protest I would! She has a fight on her hands from the off when she takes on the publicity campaign and I think her whole way of tackling it was bang on and boy did she show any doubting colleagues up.
All in all, I've absolutely loved this book and I really cant wait to read whatever Victoria Walters writes next.

A book that was enormously satisfying to read!
It has a second chance love, working in the publishing industry, a dreamy bookstore, and of course lots of books!
Admittedly, I wasn’t too keen on Noah after the shitty way he walked away from Stevie five years ago. I loved it when she gave him the riot act and also spoke out against some jerks in the book.
Stevie was a great main character. She believed in her product and also romance books! Walters taps into some relevant themes in the book world.
The ending was great and will make every bookworm sign in envy!

More than just a love story this is a love of books story and not just any books - Romance books 💕
Vicky Walters is a go to author for me and she’s done it again with such a fantastic read. From the meet-cute at the bookshop to the sizzling chemistry between Noah and Stevie, this is one perfect romance read.
I loved the friendships between Stevie and Liv, and the new ones established at her new place of work. Stevie sounded just like the friend you need when life is getting you down.
The romance promotion part of the story is a great sideline to the characters stories and seeing Deborah get the chance to prove her value to a new audience was lovely to read about.

I very much enjoyed this follow-up to The Love Interest.

It’s a sweet second-chance, workplace spicy romance. I loved seeing the two characters come back together. There are some swoons love letters involved in the story as well.

I do wish there was some more resolution to the family conflicts in the story, but it does come together in the end.

Overall I would recommend this book- you don’t need to read the first! If you have read the first, it’s fun to see where the characters are now.

The Plot Twist is a well written, excellent second chance romance novel. The story draws you in from the start, the pacing is fantastic, the characters come to life off the page,

I loved everything about this wonderful romance, Iloved second chances, the boss theme , heartbroken from previous relationship, it being years later (not just a few months) and it being so full of romance as well as emotion.

Victoria Walter’s writing is so good, I loved how she drew me in to the story and I actually had fomo whenever I had to put it down. I really enjoyed this just as much, maybe even a little more than The Love Interest. The Love Interest was the first book in this series, however these can be reading as stand-alone as they cover one complete story in the book.

Stevie and Noah are such a great leading pair, they are so cute, great chemistry and I loved their history, as well as watching them reunite. This is such a fantastic slow burn second chance romance, one I’d recommend to all my fellow romance lovers out there as a great summer read currently but really an anytime, any season read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a very cute & well written book ! I really liked our main characters, they had enough depth to them where I felt like I knew them !

A book about books is alwaaays going to be a win in my eyes & add a bit of romance as well? I am HOOKED !!!

The Plot Twist reminded me of Book Lovers by Emily Henry but it was still its own story. I would definitely recommend others to read this if they are a fan of Emily Henry and Ashley Poston books !!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this & definitely recommend !

I loved the first half of this second chance romance A LOT. This is my 2nd favorite trope and it checked everything on the list. Baad break-up. Heartbreak. 6 years time jump. They’re not over each other. Sexual tension. It was amazing.

But going into the second half, my attention wasn’t caught any more. I was bored most of the time and also a little weirded out by the writing, even if I can’t explain why.

Overall, it was very sweet, and if you’re looking for a second chance romance set in Autumn-London that will talk a lot about books, then you can go for it.

Happy Friday. It’s my turn on the blog tour today for a book by an author who I adore, have great chats with and I think her books are brilliant. Vicky is an auto go to author for me and I love how her personality and chic fashion shines out in her books.

You know a book is gonna be great when there is a meet cute right away that is super cute. I breezed through this and really enjoyed reading it.
I found it great how Vicky mixed romance and got deep and raw too. Even if this did leave me emotional in places throughout the book.

It was a beautiful book and that ending, left me in tears. It’s why my passion is romance books, for all the feels. Vicky definitely fulfilled my needs with her words!

This fab book had the below that I enjoy from a book;
🩷Second chance romance
💜Close proximity
💛Work place romance
🩷Bit of spice
💜Bookish theme
💛Meet cute
🩷A grumpy male character.
💜A strong female main character.

Stevie was brilliant and I loved her love for autumn, pumpkin spice lattes and how she romanticises life. A true hopeless romantic.

Noah was written perfectly - grumpy but also know Mr sunshine is in there, I was routing for him!

I enjoyed the excitement and buzz of the publishing world. As tough as it sounds, it also sounded fun.

I still think love letters, emails, notes are the most romantic thing. So my favourite line was;

‘Love letters? How can anyone resist love letters?’

I definitely recommend reading this.
Perfect for reading around the pool or beach with an iced latte. Or in a cosy setting with a nice red wine.

Which brings me on to another great line;
‘I always said autumn was magic. New beginnings and change in the air.’

Just lovely 🥰

Thank you Rachel and Vicky for letting me be part of this tour. @rachelsrandomresources @theboldbookclub

A follow up to the brilliant, The Love Interest, this time we have Stevie’s story. Stevie was Liv’s friend and colleague, but it was clear she had her own story to tell so I’m so pleased Victoria Walters gave us this.
I love books about books or the book world in anyway, so this was right up my street. Stevie has landed the job of her dreams – finally but she’s nervous and keen to do well. As she walks in for her first day, she is met with staff leaving, the company being taken over and a boss that she instantly recognises – her ex. Not just any ex though, the one that broke her heart and hurt her so much.
It's awkward, uncomfortable and at times I didn’t know if this situation would work for either character but when a challenge threatens the company’s success, Stevie sticks her neck out, decides to confront old pain and do what needs to be done. Will she forgive him for the hurt he caused? Possibly but she knows she wants to make this career move a success no matter what.
A slow burn but romantic, emotive and full of passion (both for books and the opposite sex) Stevie is adamant about championing romance books, that they deserve as much recognition and attention as any other. She’s a great character, I love how cool she seems no matter what.
Noah is a puzzle at first but as the story progresses, learning more about his situation, I grew fond of him and the connection between him and Stevie.
Passions of all varieties jump off the page, it sizzles with chemistry, it shouts about the love of stories and gives all romance fans a real boost.
Brilliant!

"The Plot Twist" is a charming romance that brings a meet-cute, second chance romance, and heartwarming Hallmark movie vibes. The engaging subplot keeps the book consistently moving and had me hooked throughout the whole book. Also, don't be fooled by the cover! While it's a slow burn, in the best way, there's also a touch of spice to satisfy fans of spicier reads and was definitely worth the wait to get there. This is the first book I’ve read by Victoria Walter’s and I cannot wait to get my hands on more reads by her! Definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a refreshing, lighthearted, romance read.

Happy Release Day to The Plot Twist ♡

The Plot Twist is probably the most inclined romance novel on the publishing industry concept I've ever read so far, taking account that I've read a few already previously. The writing was enjoyable. The same goes with the pacing despite being less than 350 pages.

What I enjoy most in reading this story is, again, its plot, which I was glad that the story did delve more and not just tell but did really show how the whole publishing, marketing, as well issues regarding genre trends, especially the stereotypes on romance novels. I was really immersed in those parts.

The characters were fine as well, although I wish they had more presence, the side characters, I mean, especially Deborah. Nevertheless, the story was still fine.

I also enjoyed the pairing here, Stevie and Noah really had the chemistry. I would say their pairing was cute, especially the bookwoorm bf and bookwork gf going on at the end. That part is satisfying for me considering that I usually avoid anything that is a second chance, so I'm really happy about it. Although I think they kind of lack the tension that I usually want to see. I also wish there were more developments regarding their comeback.

Overall, this was an enjoyable and wonderful read. An immersive and informative, if I say so myself. I'm definitely excited to read more of this author ♡ Thank you, Boldwood Books and Netgalley, for the e-arc opportunity ♡

I really loved The Love Interest where we read Liv and Aiden's super cute love story. This book focuses on Liv's best friend, Stevie. I just knew she would have a story to tell so I was thrilled to start this book.

I loved every minute of this story, there's the original meet cute moment in a bookshop of all places, there is so much love for books and especially romance books. I was also touched by Liv and Stevie's friendship and Stevies parents are simply the best. Noah, Stevies ex and new boss seems to have that something special I look for in my male love interests and despite the tension to start with I was rooting for Stevie and Noah all the way!

The Plot Twist by Victoria Walters

Blurb

One new boss, one ex-boyfriend, one big dilemma…

Stevie Phillips has just landed her dream job working for a publishing company and it seems like this is page one of her new, improved life.

But her first day throws more curveballs than she thinks she can there’s been a takeover and the whole publicity team has been fired. And her new boss is the last face she expected to see.

Because Noah Anderson also happens to be her ex-boyfriend.

Thrown together on a campaign for a book the rest of the staff don’t want to touch with a barge-pole, Stevie resolves to make the best of a bad situation. This is her chance to prove herself, and she’s not going to let the man who broke her heart ruin it for her.

When Noah starts hinting that there was more to their break up then him just not loving her, Stevie’s resolution starts to wobble. Getting back with your ex is never a good idea, is it? Especially not when your ex is also your boss…

My Opinion

Firstly please can we just take a second to admire the lovely cover that will appeal to book lovers far and wide. Stevie has always wanted to work with books, so why does her first day in a new job turn out to be such a nightmare? Well this book got off to a fascinating start. With a good pace, this is a slow-burn second chance romance. I really enjoyed reading this book and read the majority of it in one sitting. Victoria Walters has such a lovely writing style - I cannot wait for her next release.

Rating 4/5

You know fate is playing a nasty game on you when your new boss turns out to be the man who broke your heart.

After landing her dream job at a publishing company, Stevie finds out that her ex-boyfriend Noah is now her new boss. They take on a challenging campaign together while sparks fly and secrets unravel.

I was looking forward to reading Stevie's book after finishing The Love Interest. And it didn't disappoint me. The Plot Twist has most of the tropes a reader could want: meet-cute, grumpy/sunshine, slow-burn, second-chance, and workplace romance. I love the chemistry between the two main characters, as well as the friendship and parental bonds that the FMC has. In addition, the plot is set in the publishing world, which also makes it quite interesting. It made me realize how I may have misjudged the amount of labor authors put into crafting their works and how crucial it is to laying the groundwork for a successful publication. A great team, a lot of work, commitment, and yes—funds—are all needed.

Anyhow, should you need a palate-cleansing read, I highly recommend The Plot Twist. It's a second-chance romance by Victoria Walters, author of The Love Interest. Did she make him grovel? Well, that's for you to find out!

Many thanks to the author, the publisher Boldwood Books for the privilege of reading an eARC of The Plot Twist. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.

I have mixed feelings about The Plot Twist. I mostly like the characters, but I found the reminders of their break up to be a little much.

I read The Love Interest so I knew I would like the. Writing format, I just got annoyed with the "he broke my heart" reminder

A splendid story featuring a second chance at love.
Stevie starts a new job, her longed for career in publishing only to discover an unexpected and unwanted plot twist - the company she has just signed up with has undergone a change in ownership and her new boss is a blast from her past - the man who broke her heart when he moved away to New York, leaving her alone.
I loved her sassy attitude and her determination to stand up for herself and the romance genre too!
The protest movement she helps to create, despite the risk to her job was inspiring and it was fantastic to see her throw herself into the spotlight and make a difference.
Loved the wonderful setting in autumn and the beautiful locations in London.
Such a fun read filled with excellent characters and an adorable love story.
