I like this one. I read it in one sitting. At times the plot became a little slow but then it managed to be fun. It is a quick read and full of emotions.

I'm always on the hunt for cute, second-chance romances and I am so glad that I stumbled upon The Plot Twist by Victoria Walters. I love books that are about books in someway, and this one was no exception. Stevie Phillips has just started at her new job in publishing, but on the first day, she discovers that most of her company has been made redundant after a takeover. And guess who's the boss? It's her ex-boyfriend, Noah, the one who who broke her heart.
One of the things that I really enjoyed about Walter's writing is how contemporary it feels. Though there were certain parts where characters used certain slang (OMG instead of the full form) which felt weird, for the most part, the writing style was really nice. It was descriptive and sharp, and really made it easy for me to fall in love with the characters. The romance between Stevie and Noah was adorable and they definitely had some great chemistry with each other. Walters did a fantastic job at showing how even after drifting apart, two people can still love and find their way back to each other. This book perfectly captures the essence of the second chance trope. And one thing that I really liked was that there was no unnecessary third act breakup - that elevated the book for me.
All in all, for me, The Plot Twist is the perfect lighthearted read that you can unwind with after a long day.

Love! This book was so good. I admittedly love books about books and book publishing so I had high hopes for this one and I'm so happy to say I wasn't disappointed. The initial meet cute is adorable and I like how the author brings this back around later on in the book. At first I wasn't sure how Noah was going to redeem himself but he eventually does and it's so cute.
Second chance romance isn't my number one pick when looking for rom-coms but this one is done very well. Never underestimate the power a romance book can have. If you are looking for a quick, cute, slow burn rom-com, this will be a great pick for you!

The Plot Twist⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stevie Phillips loves books, especially romance books. She has just landed her dream job working for a publishing company and it seems like this is page one of her new, improved life. However, on day one at her new job, she has been thrown a curveball as she finds out the company she works for has just been bought out. When she meets her new boss, aka The Shark, she can’t believe her luck as it is none other than her ex boyfriend, Noah Anderson. Now having to work together on a campaign for a new book, they are spending lots of time together. This is when Noah has hinted he hasn’t moved on and realized he made a huge mistake. However, getting back with your ex is never a good idea, is it? Especially not when your ex is also your boss…
This was a fun read. I loved all the book tropes and the concept of the book with them being publishers. Stevie’s character was easily likable but tough when needed. Noah’s came off as a grump but he really wasn’t. It was a fast-paced read and easy to get into. I think a lot of bookish girls would like this one!
This book will publish on June 19, 2024. Be sure to add to your TBR list! Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for my advanced readers copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.

Well, this book was as much fun as I had hoped it would be. I read Victoria's previous book, The Love Interest and fell head over heels in love with her writing and her ability to know what romance bookworms want in their love stories. Her books are also proud and loud cheerleaders for the romance genre. She points out that society and the publishing industry's opinions of romance books and its readers are often thought to be silly little love stories that don't have much merit. But what Victoria shows readers, and hopefully also readers outside of the romance genre, is that romance bookworms are passionate about the books they read and that these books are so relevant to our world. There are so many moments in this book where it feels like Victoria is writing a love letter to romance bookworms. She gets why romance readers love the genre.
The overall story is a lot of fun. It's this wonderful blend of workplace and second-chance romance. Poor Stevie was so excited to start her new job in a publishing firm only to find out that her ex-boyfriend, who had just up and left her, was her new boss. Stevie can't decide what she is having a harder time getting over the fact that Noah is her boss or that he seems so different from the man she used to date. I'm not always a fan of workplace romances, but I loved this one. I think it's because of the bookish atmosphere and Noah and Stevie working together to promote an upcoming romance book. They are both passionate about the romance genre, and their passion just leaps from the pages, and you cannot help but get excited about the plans they are coming out with. The chemistry between these two is still electric, and as a reader, I was left wondering why Noah had ended his relationship with Stevie so abruptly because it's pretty clear that he still has some strong feelings for her. There is plenty of tension between these two, both lusty and angry. Stevie is still harbouring some major hurt feelings from their break-up, which often has her moods swinging from one extreme to the other.
I loved how Victoria used emails as a way to help readers understand what happened to cause this break-up. Without giving away any spoilers, Noah had written these heartfelt emails to Stevie, and even though he couldn't send them to her, he continued to write to her. As a reader, we get to read these letters and see what happened in Noah's life that drove him away from Stevie.
The romance is slightly spicy, its probably the spiciest book you will get from Boldwood Books publishing. Both of these characters tended to run hot and cold with each other. There are moments when they have a hard time reigning in those lusty feelings, but then they would often quickly pull back. In order for them to reconnect, they have to have those quiet moments where they can share those feelings, both good and bad. They also have to be willing to let the past go. I thought the relationship was believable. Victoria does a great job of building that tension while also showing readers that there is an emotional connection between the two. But they have to talk before they can jump into bed with each other. This approach fits with their characters. Noah's grand gestures at the beginning and end of the book are the stuff of my romantic book lover dreams. That man really knows how to make a bookworm swoon.
The Plot Twist is another satisfying and fun rom-com by Victoria Walters.

Another amazing book from the wonderful Victoria Walter’s. She writes such brilliant romance novels. Stevie’s story was such a great ‘feel good’ read. I really didn’t want it to end and managed to stretch out the last couple of chapters over three days to keep the magic alive a little longer. Will Stevie get her happy ever after? Read it and you will find out.

This book was so incredibly cute! I loved all the cliches and the romance swoony vibes of it, as well as the message of ROMANCE BOOKS ARE NO LESS THAN ANY OTHER BOOKS!
Absolutely will recomend it and buy the other Vitoria Walters book because im very curious on Liv and Aidens story

I received a complimentary copy from Boldwood Books and all opinions expressed are mine.
This is a perfect read for fans of second chance romances and office romance . It follows Stevie who gets her dream job only to arrive to work to a 'hostile takeover' where most of the team she has to work with is fired and her new boss is Noah -her ex boyfriend and the guy that broke her heart. My romantic heart was satisfied with the plot, cast , the appreciation of romance books and a comfort reading for mushy hearts. Run and get it!

I loved this book! I am all about a book about books and book lovers. The MMC and FMC have my heart. Stevie is the cutest FMC I've read about in a long time and I really enjoyed getting to know the MMC, Noah.
I felt every bit of emotion in this book because I was pulled in from the beginning. The heartbreak, the rekindling, the new & old romance, the friendships - it was all so great.
The only thing I noticed was the repeat of the heartbreak over and over. I do understand that when you are with someone and you have them for some time and then they just leave - it is hard BUT the constant wishy-washy feeling from Stevie got old quick.
Overall, this was a super cute romance and I would recommend to readers.

This was absolutely delightful! I loved the take on second chance romance, I absolutely ADORED the peek behind the publishing curtain and I am a Stevie STAN for life! She was the hero we all need, so relatable, funny, quirky and charming.
This was my very first Victoria Walters and will not be my last!

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Victoria Walters. I was hooked from the beginning and read in one sitting.
Stevie has got the job she’s always wanted, to work as a publicist for Stevie Phillips has landed her dream job Turn the Pages. She’s looking forward to her first day and hope that everything happens as she wants it to.
But, when she reaches the office, she’s shocked to find that things aren’t as she thought, and her boss is someone else now, none other than her ex-boyfriend.
When an author who’s books haven’t done that well, and everyone at the office thinks that her new book will go the same way, Stevie must forget about how she was treated by Noah, and work together to help the author.
I loved this book, because it’s about books, and bookshops.
It also breaks up the way others think of romance books, how that genre isn’t worth reading. The Plot Twist is everything that’s great about the genre.
Will Stevie and Noah bring Deborah Day’s book to the top of the charts and sort out their differences?
I highly recommend this book.

Five years ago, Stevie's boyfriend moved to New York with barely a conversation, leaving her behind forever... but now he's back, working as her new boss at the publishing company she just got hired at. He's still just as gorgeous as ever, and she's determined not to let their past get in the way of her doing her job. But after spending five years trying to get over him, keeping their history in the past might prove a little harder than she'd hoped.
I really liked the relationship between Stevie and Noah. The history was there, and in the present there was a good push-and-pull of clear mutual attraction but being hesitant to act on it because of their past.
I wish there had been a little more tension throughout--everything got resolved a little too easily; every single conflict was fixed by a simple conversation, which in theory is great, but meant that there was a part of the book where everything just felt way too easy, some of it kind of unearned. Overall, though, I did enjoy the book and would read another Victoria Walters book.

Mein Leseerlebnis

Love, love, love! This is such a sweet story and takes place in the publishing industry. So a book about books for book lovers - perfect!
Great characters, quick pace, former couple now has to work together to promote a book and make it a best seller, good relationship tension.
I highly recommend this for your Summer reading list.
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for access to this eARC.

A fun read of second chance love that provides an insight into the publishing world and respecting rom coms :)

Victoria Walters’ "The Plot Twist" is a delightful blend of romance, personal growth, and professional intrigue that captivates from the first page. Stevie Phillips, our protagonist, lands what seems like her dream job at a publishing company, only to have her excitement swiftly tempered by unexpected and challenging developments.
On her very first day, Stevie faces the shock of a company takeover which results in the firing of her entire publicity team. To compound her troubles, her new boss is none other than her ex-boyfriend, Noah Anderson. This setup, fraught with tension and unresolved feelings, immediately hooks the reader, promising an emotional and engaging ride.
Stevie’s character is thoroughly relatable, embodying both vulnerability and strength as she navigates her complicated professional and personal life. Her determination to prove herself in a challenging environment resonates deeply, especially as she takes on a book campaign that the rest of the staff has shunned. Stevie's resilience and creativity in handling her work responsibilities make her a compelling and inspiring character.
Noah Anderson, as the ex-boyfriend-turned-boss, is equally intriguing. Walters skillfully reveals layers to his character, particularly through his hints that there was more to their breakup than Stevie originally understood. This adds a layer of mystery and depth to the story, keeping readers invested in uncovering the truth behind their past relationship.
The dynamics between Stevie and Noah are electric, filled with tension, nostalgia, and the undeniable chemistry of unfinished business. Walters deftly balances the professional and personal stakes, making Stevie’s dilemmas feel authentic and significant. The author’s exploration of themes such as second chances, forgiveness, and personal growth is both thoughtful and heartwarming.
"The Plot Twist" is not just a romance; it’s a story about finding one's voice and place in the world, even when the odds seem insurmountable. Walters' writing is engaging and filled with witty dialogue, making the book a pleasurable read from start to finish. The secondary characters, though not as deeply explored, provide a vibrant backdrop to Stevie and Noah’s story, adding richness to the narrative.
In conclusion, "The Plot Twist" is a charming and satisfying read that will appeal to fans of contemporary romance and workplace dramas. Victoria Walters has crafted a story that is as much about professional ambition and personal redemption as it is about love. Stevie’s journey is one that many readers will find both inspiring and entertaining, making this book a worthy addition to your reading list.

Readers, are you looking for the quintessential romance novel? The one book that will re-affirm your love for the beautiful power of a romance book? Well I have it here, with The Plot Twist. Victoria Walter's newest book is a love letter to romance readers and it needs to be on your Summer reading list!
Stevie Phillips has landed her dream job of working as a publicist for Turn the Pages. She's excited for her first day, but not all goes to plan when she discovers her ex-boyfriend is her new boss! Now to help a mid-list romance author that no-one believes in, Stevie must put her anger aside and try to work with Noah. However, what is the line between love and hate and will they cross it?
Oh Em Gee! I really, really loved The Love Interest. It was a total love letter to Pride & Prejudice fans, and The Plot Twist is definitely a love letter to romance readers. This story centres around Stevie and her romantic adventures. For readers of The Love Interest we do get cameos from Liv and Aiden [swoon!!], but either book could be read as a standalone... although trust me when I say you will want to read both!
My favourite thing about The Plot Twist is it is a bookish book about books....
I'd just had a real life meet-cute. In a bookshop! It was what a romance book lover's dreams were made of.
It also breaks down barriers about what the world thinks of romance books. As an avid reader of romance at least a few times [okay more than that] someone has looked down at me for my choice of reading material. I love romance and I love happy endings, and The Plot Twist shares what is so great about this wonderful genre!
Stevie Phillips is a wonderful heroine. She's strong, smart and independent and was a delight to watch, as she gets so excited about promoting midlist author, Deborah Day. Her energy is simply infectious, and I love the energy she brings to everyone at Turn the Pages.
Best described as sweet and spicy, The Plot Twists brings in toe curling moments with spicy romantic moments, and I loved every second of it! I sure hope there will be more books with these characters, as I just can't get enough of them! Another perfect romance from Victoria Walters!

5 STARS that is all! Only kidding but seriously this is an easy 5 star read for me
It has everything I love in a story and as a big lover of second chance romance this one really hit the spot!
Stevie who worked with Liv in the library has just landed her dream job in publishing and happily makes her way to her first day of work only to find that the publisher has been taken over by another publishing house and quite a few of the staff have been fired, Stevie immediately thinks that her dreams in publishing are already finished and as she makes her way to the bosses office to find out her fate she comes face to face with her Ex Noah.....her new boss. What could be more awkward? lol
Stevie makes the cut and is being given a chance to work on publishing and so throws herself into her work..
I absolutely adored the story and the chemistry between Noah and Stevie, he bought their bookshop, my goodness the romance!
Highly recommend!

I LOVED this book!!
The Plot Twist is a heartwarming, cozy & romantic book that is a romance book lover’s dream! Anyone seeking a story with happy moments, steamy romance, grand gestures & a happily ever after should read this book.
Noah & Stevie have a complicated past. For Stevie, it is her perfect meet-cute in a bookstore & a relationship, plus love that appears to come from a romance novel. Unexpectedly, Noah breaks up & leaves Stevie; her entire world is no longer on solid ground. Pure heartbreak forces Stevie to begin again & learn how to live without Noah. Just when she believes life in finally better, Noah returns to her life as her new boss at her new job.
Stevie is determined to keep Noah at arms length; giving her heart away again is too risky. Of course, no matter how much Stevie wants to keep Noah away there always seems to bring them back to each other. Working extremely closely on a publishing campaign makes it more difficult to stay away from both the past & love.
I recommend this book for anyone who loves romance, romance books & finding a happily ever after. I plan on reading this book again!
