I had high expectations for 'The Open Marriage,' but it failed to captivate me as much as I had anticipated. Initially, the slow pace made it difficult to maintain my interest. Although the pacing picked up midway, my interest had already waned. I persisted to the end, as I make it a point never to abandon a book, but I believe it wasn't among the author's finest works.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC.

It was supposed to save us. It destroyed us.<y husband Marcus and I used to be so in love. But now, after ten years together, we barely talk. I've seen so many of our friends' marriages end in divorce, and I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to stop that from happening to us. And then I meet Erin. She tells me all about her perfect marriage to Keiran, and I'm shocked when she reveals the secret to their marital bliss. - they have an open marriage. My heart starts to race as I consider it for me and Marcus. Could we really do this? When Marcus cautiously agrees, I know it can't be with strangers, and so I call Erin. She tells me there is only one complete honesty, But when I meet Keiran, it doesn't take long for me to break that rule. Soon this isn't an open marriage, but an affair.

Louise met Erin while they were at yoga and quickly became friends. Louise and her husband have not been getting along, and she finds out that Erin has an open marriage, so Louise and Marcus decide to give it a try.

I had higher hopes for this book after reading the premise. It was quite predictable. I wasn't keen on any of the characters. It's filled with lies and deceit, but the ending was a bit of a surprise.

The name of the book leads you to believe the plot has a lot more to do with an open marriage than it really does, so don’t let that turn you off! I feel like the last bit of the book was thrown together hastily, considering how slow the beginning progresses, but there’s a lot of good character development and I didn’t see the curve ball coming.

This was one of the more enjoyable thriller books I’ve read lately and my first one by this author. I devoured it in less than 3 days. Worth the read!

The Open Marriage by Victoria Jenkins is about Lou who is married to Marcus and has been for the past 10 years and feels like they are going through a rough patch. When she meets Aaron in her yoga class she is enamored by this beautiful woman who is so friendly and once she gets to know her and learns the secret to her successful marriage Lou is at first shocked, but then talks Marcus into doing it as well. Lou has a lot on her plate her mother recently died and she is now left with having to clean out her house and deciding what to do with all the ill gotten money her dad scammed from innocent victims her brother wants some of it Lou refuses. He is 41 years old and still lives like a teenager and is not responsible at all. After her and Marcus switch partners with Aaron in Kieran it shakes lose entire foundation she cannot stop thinking about Kieran and she fears this has radically changed her and Marcus‘s relationship eventually however it will change their entire life. Someone goes missing someone is found dead end it seems Lou is the prime suspect. The only way I can describe the ending of this book is shock and awe as a thriller fan I know I am supposed to not count anyone out as the bad guy but OMG I don’t know why but this one truly shocked me. I expect twists like this from my favorite domestic thriller authors but never considered Victoria Jenkins to be one of them but after this book I am definitely put in her on my list for authors to look out for. This book isn’t as long as most domestic thrillers but it is a great read and one I definitely recommend there was lots in the book I haven’t put in my review but what I put sounds interesting to you trust me when I say there is much more. I also want to say just as an aside I didn’t understand why Lou didn’t want to give Cameron some of the vast amount of wealth she received in her mothers will, I mean I get it it was ill gotten gains but if she didn’t want it she could’ve at least given him some of it. I want to thank Bookouture for my free art copy via NetGalley. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

First book I’ve read by this author. Good, solid book. The wife suggests they try an “open” marriage to add spice to their nonexistent love life. Things happen, lies are told, and people aren’t always who you think they are. Plenty of good twists, some I saw coming and some I didn’t. I would recommend this book to others.

When Louise makes a new friend in yoga class she is surprised to learn that Erin and her husband have an open marriage. She is immediately intrigued and brings up the idea to her husband. Maybe this will solve the issues in their marriage. But, things are not what they seem and once the swap happens, these couples will never be the same.

With a title like The Open Marriage, I expected there to be more salacious and badly behaved couples. That isn’t what this is. It is a psychological thriller wrapped up in some bad behavior to get what the player(s) wants. Although the story kept me entertained, I had the whole plot pegged within the first few chapters. There were some things that surprised me but not much. I liked the overall story and how the author was able to wrap it all up in a neatly tied bow. It isn’t the most suspenseful thriller but I was still drawn into the crazy schemes that kept this story moving forward which ultimately made intriguing story to read.

This book appeals to a lot of people and I can see why! But it does not work for me. Not only am I a prude, but I also do not get doing all this to save a marriage. Why do you want him sis? I was glad it was not spicy. It was just weird.
As always I loved hating the husband.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

Louise and Marcus are married but stuck in a rut. When Louise meets Erin at yoga class she confines in her. Erin tells her that she is in an open marriage with her husband and that has solved all their issues. A week later the 2 couples are in a hotel room. Louise is a headteacher and somebody knows her secret, beginning blackmail.

This was well written and a great read. The author had me convinced that Erin and Louise were ‘goodies’ whereas their husbands were painted as the bad ones. I enjoyed the twists, turns and suspense in this tale. I did figure out the blackmailer, but it didn’t spoil the story for me.

Marcus and Louise want to reenergize their marriage and when Louise meets Erin, Erin lets Louise into how her open marriage saved her marriage Louise makes a decision, why not give it a go?
The couples set up rules and meet with another couple, the lines blur and what happens next sets off a chain of events
Good plot, especially in the second part of the book,

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced reading copy of The Open Marriage by Victoria Jenkins.

This book is getting lots of love from fellow reviewers. For me, this book started incredibly slow, 30% in and something has finally happened but is followed up with more slow dull events. I gave it to 40% through and unfortunately, for me this book is a dnf. I'm the odd ball, I'm sure more people will continue to show love for this book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this advanced copy. Marcus and Louise want to reboot their marriage. Louise meets Erin and Erin tells her how her open marriage saved her. Louise decides she needs something for her marriage, why not this? They set up rules and meet with another couple. The lines blur quickly and alot of dishonesty and mistrust happens. This was very slow the first half for me, but love the plot.

A good not great read for me,all the staples of the psychological domestic thriller were there and twists and turns and well written but I didn’t fully believe in the main character or her way of dealing with the issues,a lot of gym talk, usually love this authors books so look forward to the next one

I would give this book a solid middle rating of 2.5 It was okay, good, but not great. It did keep my interest, but it's mediocre writing and I could see the twists and turns coming. The plot was just kind of boring, could have been way better written in my opinion.

Louise and Marcus are at a tough point in their marriage. Louise takes some advice from a new friend about spicing things up and everything turns upside down.

I didn’t like Marcus from the beginning so Louise being so desperate to improve things with him in the way she did, was a bit of a mystery to me. She made several decisions that had bad written all over them so it was difficult to really like her.

While it was obvious her decisions would turn out to be bad, the unraveling of the mystery was not obvious at all. I thought I had it all figured out and boy was I wrong! Bravo on the twists that I didn’t see coming. Overall while I didn’t love Louise, I loved the ride along with her while she put all the pieces together. I also really liked some of the supporting characters, namely Louise’s friend Maria. This book was a definite page turner that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure everything out.

Louise and Marcus are at that point in their marriage where they have started to become preoccupied with other things and are not making each other a priority. Louise is dealing with the aftermath of her mothers death, her brothers descent into addiction, and she is still coming to terms with the fact that her father was a criminal who extorted money from innocent people. Marcus is constantly paying attention to his phone and rarely makes time to even look at his wife.

One day Louise meets Erin at yoga class and this is the catalyst that will send her life and her marriage into a downward spiral. Erin tells Louise about her marriage that was at one point on the verge of divorce and how she and her husband Kieran saved it by giving an open marriage a try. You can guess where the book goes from there.

Eventually someone ends up missing and Louise starts a downward spiral. She is at the center of a missing persons investigation and doesn’t know how she ended up here.

I enjoyed this book and felt a connection to the characters. Once I was able to really get into it I just wanted to keep reading. Always the mark of a good book. The twist wasn’t as twisty as I was hoping for, but it was still a good one.

All in all I think this would be a good book for anyone who enjoys Freida McFadden and Shari Lapena. It was a quick read and definitely held my attention. 4/5 stars ⭐️

Thank you Netgalley & Bookouture for an eARC of The Open Marriage by Victoria Jenkins! This book was okay for me - I found some of the monologue repetitive and the plot was a bit predictable, but aren't they always with these types of stories? Easy to binge and kept me interested, though, and I'm looking forward to seeing what this author comes up with next!
