I was curious how this would be translated from a graphic novel to an audio book and I wasn't disappointed,
I really enjoyed this book, and would definitely recommend to listen to this story.
Thank you for the chance to listen

I've read so many books about being non binary. I think I've even cried over all of them. This one hit a different type of affirmation for me. My name and nickname.
The audiobook was beautifully produced. I could picture Theo walking in nature as they told their story, changing from one scene to another. Hearing school chatter in the background and even some snide remarks students made really put me in Theos awkward shoes.
Such a beautiful affirmative book about self love as a non-binary person.
Now to go out and buy the physical book to come back to on days I need a little comfort.
'We are all just trying to find a place to call our own. We are all deserving of comfort and safety. A place to call home'
You are enough.

Thank you for a gifted paperback and audiobook copy of this novel, I found myself re-reading the story twice, and then a third time with the hour-long audiobook alongside which is an absolute blessing to just add to the experience of the story! The book is just graphically and visually stunning with beautiful illustrations and gorgeous calligraphy, plus the narration by Roly Botha is phenomenal! I found myself falling in love with every aspect of this book!
I really enjoyed reading/listening about Theo’s life, and their ability to be open about their experiences, and seeing/hearing their flashbacks and characters cards was great. I feel that Theo highlighted a lot of issues throughout this book, which I found myself completely agreeing with, such as the demands from school on uniform and ensuring that each pupil has the same formal wear, which really does affect children and young adults more than those making the rules realise, not every pupil feels comfortable wearing what the school heads deem as “uniform”
Also, there are many times Theo hits the nail on the head with how society and the world desperately tries to label individuals and squeeze them into boxes, and unfortunately with these pressures several people feel like they need to confirm, and as such live an unhappy life doing so. As well as how society and people make assumptions on others just based on the outward appearance, such as hair, make up and clothing, but it also reminds the reader and encourages them that these different outward appearances can really have an impact on one's confidence and self-worth.
This book just highlights the importance of self-love, and feeling at home in one's body
The quotes throughout are wonderful and memorable, the story is amazing and empowering, there is a real sense of personal achievement, confidence and pride radiating from this novel. I love the support and encouragement that Theo is offering throughout the book, reminding the readers that not everyone is on the same journey in life, and that everyone's courses can and will alter with time.
This is a read that I would highly recommend, I found myself smiling and chuckling in many places, and just came away with such a feeling of warmth and giddy feeling. This is just a fantastic novel with everything feeling so perfect, especially with the fact that it makes the reader question themselves, and their behaviour, it really highlights how certain behaviours and words can affect those around us!

I was a bit curious to see how a graphic novel would translate to an audiobook, but it was AMAZING
I loved the little background noises and music a lot and the narration was done perfectly.
I absolutely adore this story and the message of hope it gives, an absolute must read.

I received this audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
What a beautiful audiobook - not only the narration, but the sound effects as well, which was a nice extra surprise. Good narration really makes or breaks an audiobook and I think the narrators here did an excellent job.
The story itself - not story, as this is the authors real life experiences, but you know what I mean - is a beautiful tale of self acceptance and understanding. I really think many younger people struggling with their identity would benefit from hearing Theo's first hand experiences and the conclusions he's come to within his own journey.
I have the hard copy on order and excited to compare the audio to the illustrations.
An important book that will significantly impact certain people especially. 5/5

This graphic novel honestly felt like a warm hug, something everybody should read. It’s sincere, heartfelt and I think lots of people will find comfort in this author’s words.
I listened to the audiobook and the pace, as well as the background noises inserted (probably to give you the entire experience seeing that it’s a graphic novel) and the narrator were great.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with the audiobook in exchange for an honest review
