Another excellent read from Lotte R James, this is a story that will is well suited to theatre lovers for it's backstage insights, friendships and relationships as well as the central romance between Ruth and Artemis which catches both of them off guard as they navigate their unexpected feelings for the other. The characters are believable and relatable and the story progresses at a nice pace as the relationship develops and you really do become invested as to what will become of the pair. The behind the scenes at the theatre scenes paint a vivid picture of life in a dramatic company in the Victorian era, and the story keeps the reader engaged and entertained throughout.
