A gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of Her Perfect Secret.
Julie thought he was the man of her dreams.
I walk into my bedroom. There’s a woman in my bed. Next to my fiancé. He promises her he has no idea who I am. That he’s never seen me before. He’s calling me a stalker.
But before I even know how to respond, someone’s breaking down the front door. Pounding up the stairs. I run, but I can’t hide.
Now I’m trapped in a cabin in the middle of nowhere in the midst of a blizzard with a man who swears he doesn’t know me. As though the last five years together never happened.
He’s lying.
And then he looks me right in the eye and whispers so our kidnappers can’t hear him:
‘I’m sorry.’
Her perfect fiancé is turning her life into a perfect nightmare.
A perfectly thrilling read. Will recommend to others who love psychological thrillers.
This is an intense and action-packed thriller told in two POV's. I found it confusing to follow due to all the twists. It wrapped up nicely but took a long time to get there. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
A good gripping read which did keep you guessing most of the way through. Thanks @netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
A unique and interesting premise, well written and well paced most of the time, however there were times when it felt a little odd and flat.
Very good book. It kept me engaged and had relatable characters. It had plenty of twists to keep the pages turning and me wanting to know what is going to happen next. I would recommend to others.
Very suspenseful twisted story of a woman trying to take over the life of her doppelgänger by kidnapping, murder. Lots of action, and unexpected twists.
I found this to be very disjointed, not well written, and completely impossible to get into. I honestly think that this reads as though written by a completely different author, and is definitly not up to the usual standard. Unforutnatley I could not engage, nor care about the characters, and gave up reading this just past the halfway mark, which is comething that I never do.
At first I thought the premise sounded really interesting, I loved the intense action that started out the book, it really drew me in! Pretty soon after, I started to feel confused and bored. As the book progressed, too many characters were introduced. Being told from different POVs and so many added characters made me want to keep putting this book down and was hard to pick back up, The pacing of the book started out great, and then was ridiculously slow. The plot itself also became ridiculous and extremely unbelievable. There were some promising plot twists that the author could have chosen, but instead the ending was rather rushed.
Whoa! I didn't expect anything that happened in this story!
When Julie comes home early from a medical conference, she finds her fiancee, Colton, in bed with another woman. He claims not to know who Julie is and accuses her of being his stalker. Minutes later, two other men walk into their home and Julie is only focused on running away. But both she and Colton are kidnapped and driven to a cabin upstate.
There Julie learns the mystery woman is her doppelganger. Monique is in trouble with the law and wants to use Julie's death as her new start. Colton was behind it all until he had a change of heart. When he's no longer useful to Monique and the two other men, they kill him.
Can Julie escape before it's too late? Will the cops figure out the truth before it's too late?
A must read!
I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
I loved this!!!!
Gripped from the start and throughout
Loved the twists and turns and really was quite unpredictable
Highly recommend
This is an intense and action-packed mystery/thriller. It's told in two POV's that volley back and forth between them. I found it confusing and somewhat difficult to follow due to the twists which constantly changed my perspective. It wrapped up nicely but took a long time to do so.
A fast paced, action style, thriller a page turner from the start. Jam packed with action and told mostly from the point of Juile the innocent victim of an odd kidnapping or is she? The first section gets you in fast as Julie finds her husband in bed with another woman then is kidnapped with her husband and dragged to a cabin in the woods. Lots of peculiar comments and suggestions are made which leaves the reader very much in the dark as who to believe, I don't mind this too much, as my imagination goes wild but I am sometimes underwhelmed by the real story! Unfortunately, it was a little slow to reveal the true events so the middle section did feel like more of a chore than enjoyable but the ending tidy away all of the loose ends, so it was worth finding out the real story. I thought the characters could have been developed a little more as I had no feeling towards any of them.
I would recommend for those that like a fast paced page turner and slow reveal to truth. 3*

Thank you for the opportunity to preview The Perfect Fiancé.
TJ Brearton is a master of suspense and twisted endings. This new novel is quite different.
This book is full of intriguing questions. When a woman comes home early and finds her fiancé in bed with another woman she is stunned. But when suddenly she and her fiancé are being chased by a group of men and kidnapped, she really doesn’t know what to expect or think.
She knows she’s been betrayed because the men involved are her husband’s brother and friend.
What is going on and why are these people looking to murder her and her fiancé.
Brearton creates a suspenseful scenario where you don’t see the next twist coming.
Filled with unexpected twists and turns this is an excellent example of Brearton’s body of work.
4 stars
After reading the synopsis for this book, I was excited to read it. The beginning of the book started off really well - full of action and quite intense. However, it quickly went downhill after that. The book was really confusing and made little sense. The ending didn't really answer my questions and left me feeling even more confused. Overall, really messy and all over the place.
Thank you to the author and the publisher for the advanced copy.
Great murder mystery that had me turning the pages so fast in hopes to find out and figure out more about the story. I like how the book was mapped out and we heard multiple sides all through the story.
HOLY CRAP what did i just read!!!
I read this in one sitting couldn't put it down. It was the edge of your seat thriller and what a book should be! I thought yep had this figured out then the twist would show me different. Julie is away for work and when she comes home she is shocked that her finance is in bed with another woman whom she doesn't know. The twists and turns after that are mind blowing!
This book i will recommend to every reader i talk to just amazing and just a great fast read.
Well Done to the author!
Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Perfect Fiancé by T J Brerton in return for my honest review.
This book had me hooked from the beginning, its full of action and intrigue and lots of twists and turns making it a real page turner, I really like that is told from several POVs. I defiantly recommend reading.
When I came across this book I thought that the premise sounded really intriguing. And the book started wonderful with intense action that made me wanting to read more.
The book begins with Julie coming home from a conference earlier than planned and finding her fiancé, Colton, is sleeping with another woman and claiming that he has no idea who Julie is. Then suddenly two guys storm in, and despite their attempts to flee, Julie and Colton are shoved into a vehicle and driven to a log cabin in the countryside.
As that point I had already so many questions and was hoping for great plot with some exciting twists. However pretty fast I started to feel confused and bored. As the book progressing, more and more characters were introduced which makes it a little hard to follow, especially that the book is told from multiple different POVs. And as much I normally love this kind of structure, too much is just too much.
Sadly the pacing of the book was also off more me. After intense start it got slower and it felt like the author wasn’t sure were to go wit the plot. At some point it get kind of ridiculous and unbelievable. There were some promising ploy twist in the book but unfortunately those were ignored and the author rushed the ending with predictable events.
The Perfect Fiance- Omg!!! From the moment I started reading this book I couldn’t put it down! Suspenseful, edge of your seat reading!! Just when you think you figured out what is going on- BAM!! a new twist! When Julie came home early from her conference she never imaged she would find her fiancé in bed with another woman. That’s nothing compared to what comes next! Will she be able to survive what’s coming next in this psychological thriller. Can’t wait to read more T. J. Brearton books!
This book starts like a Tetris game, but with people's lives! Who is telling the truth? Who are people and their relationships? There was a lot to figure out. That said, the head scratching and action were heavier in the beginning of the book. After a speedy set up, the pace slows down as though the author and characters weren't sure where they were headed. Then, near the end, I felt like there was a twist tossed in that should have been foreshadowed a little more instead of thrown in the pot. Instead of a twist, it felt like a last ditch effort to add to the storyline. Despite that, this was a fun read!
