Give me a cowboy romance and I will eat it up, no crumbs left. I have not been enjoying enemies to lovers lately and this made me fall back in love with the trope.
Wow. Simply wow. This is definitly Lyla's best book so far and I am unwell thinking about this series. It's just so good and everything everyone should always look for!
Teddy was amazing from the start until the end and everythng about this book just made me so, so happy.
I couldn't put it down and I loved the caracther development in this book. Both main characthers were so talented and I can't wait to see evryone loving them.
Such a perfect and cute story, READ THIS ONE PLEASE.
Teddy is the spitfire, confident, go-getting girl I wish I had been. She's unabashedly herself, and won't change to make herself more palatable to anyone. Gus is dependable, reliable, set in his ways. That man needs a bit of shaking up to remind him that, whilst he's a tad older than Teddy, he's not quite ready for the old folks home either!
I loved the way that their enemies to lovers, banter filled relationship developed. It actually kind of reminds me of my husband and I, we both know what buttons to push and where to draw the line. It was wonderful to see the emotion and tenderness that the story between Teddy and her dad, Teddy and Emmy, & Teddy and Gus/Riley showed how fears can be overcome, family can be found anywhere and that just because you fail once, you're not always a failure.
The friendship and co-parenting between Gus and Cam was refreshing to see and the way that they didn't get in the way of each other's happiness and supported each other.
Can't wait to see what happens next!
I love a grumpy sunshine story and this was one with a twist. Usually the grumpy MMC is only nice to the FMC but in this case, he’s even grumpier with her and the FMC is sunshine with everyone but him. I liked the twist.
Anyone who sees Teddy and Gus together would think they hate each other, but really they just don’t understand each other..
He is her best friend’s big brother. He thinks she’s trouble, she thinks he’s a bossy a$$.
When Gus needs help looking after his daughter Teddy seems like an unlikely choice, but in fact she’s perfect. She loves his daughter and gives her something neither he nor his ex can. She brings a creative side that neither of them have and Riley loves spending time with her.
Being forced in to each other’s proximity makes them see how wrong they were in their impressions of each other. Teddy is kind, loving, loyal and creative. Gus is hardworking, caring and a great dad.
Their attraction grows and they both try to fight it at first, but it’s bigger than them both.
I loved watching them go from enemies to friends to lovers. They both gave so much of themselves to others, it was nice to see them take something for themselves.
This book left me feeling warm and fuzzy and was one of my favourite reads so far this year.
Lost And Lassoed

‘Life had begun to feel bittersweet, and I was getting all of the bitter and everyone else was getting the sweet.’
The ecosystem at Rebel Blue Ranch is wonderful, so many interconnected lives and I want to explore them all. It’s a wonderful place to spend some time.
I don’t think the plotline is a surprise to anyone, but we all know that it’s the journey and not the destination that truely matters. And I loved my time spent here with these characters.
“That looks good, Ted, beautiful.”
“Thanks, Dad. I’m not quite sure what it is yet,”
“Really? You can’t see it?”
“What do you mean?” I asked confused.
“Never mind.”
It’s a fine line between love and hate. I love the nuisances of life and how set backs can always be turned around into positives.
“Roll with the punches, Teddy Andersen. And punch back if you need to,”
Ok the ending was great, I’m ready and rearing to go for book four. This is feel good romance reading, just what my heart needed.

Lost and Lassoed was the perfect continuation of the Rebel Blue Ranch series. Lyla Sage convinces with strong relationships, an idyllic setting and no unnessecary drama between the main protagonists. A wonderful read for a cosy weekend.
This book was on my radar for ages so I was very excited to read this and I loved it, the characters are amazing.
This series just keeps getting better and better.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital copy to review. All thoughts are my own.
I'm a big fan of the Rebel Blue Ranch series, and overall, Lost and Lassoed is a good addition. I enjoyed Gus and Teddy as they navigate a summer of forced proximity for the well-being of Gus' daughter Riley. The pair have been antagonistic towards each other since book one, and it was nice to discover why their connection wasn't the greatest.
I'll admit, I appreciated Gus' storyline a little more than Teddy's though. It took me a little longer to get invested in her, mostly because of her "sad girl" vibes when she had the ability to maturely communicate with those who she felt frustrated or left out by but chose not to at the disadvantage of her own happiness. I'm pleased that when those conversations finally occurred she advocated for herself well, but it was a bit repetitive in the beginning as Teddy established herself in the storyline. Once the summer babysitting job was in full swing, however, I began to enjoy her as a character a lot, and her caring nature towards those she loved was very relatable. Teddy has an ill father with similar conditions as my mother (sans the rock and roll lifestyle for my Mum!) so I connected with her when things became more serious with her father's health. I'm also really grateful that Sage didn't use Teddy's father's decline in health as a third-act obstacle.
The romance was mostly good, though I have previously struggled with how Sage writes her intimate scenes in the first book, and found some of the bedroom kinks used rather cringey again (*SPOILER* loose use of the word Daddy, breeding kink) . I think this is a bit of a me problem, given I've read a lot of romance novels over the years. I am jaded by the commonly used phrases, lack of protection, and overall "samey" vibe a lot of romance novels boast. I thought after the stellar intimate connection in Book 2 that maybe Book 1's sexual scenes were just a bit of a miss for me, and it's unfortunate that the scenes in Lost and Lassoed did make me lose some interest in the couple. Outside of the bedroom, and especially when Riley was around, I really enjoyed the exploration of two people who have held only one view of the other for the longest time and discovering a whole person instead. It was beautifully done in that respect.
I had a good time visiting Meadowlark a third time, and I appreciated the author's dedication to setting up the next book in the series within this one. I'm looking forward to returning for Dusty and Cam's story next.
Lost and Lassoed by Lyla Sage is a heartwarming blend of romance and rugged charm, whisking readers away to wide-open spaces and a story rich with humor and heart. Sage’s writing is as breezy and inviting as a summer day, with characters who feel wonderfully alive, each with quirks and grit that make you root for them from the start. The romance is sweet and sassy, wrapped in a down-to-earth warmth that feels like a cozy escape. Lost and Lassoed is pure feel-good fun, perfect for those who love a charming, laugh-out-loud love story with a country twist.
I LOVED this book! Rebel blue might have stolen a piece of my heart, because I can't stop thinking about all these characters. Teddy has become one of my favorite fmc, she is loud, fierce and loves with everything in her. Gus is kind of the powerhouse of the family and that's why they fit so good together, as they both can just be themselves with each other. And Riley is such a cute and intelligent kid, I love her!
Thank you to Quercusbooks for my Arc copy of Lost and Lassoed by Lyla Sage
This book is told through a dual pov, and we are following Teddy and Gus, otherwise known as Therodra and August, on their journey together. Every time these two are in the same room together, they can't help but get snippy; however, due to circumstances, Gus needs some help to look after his 6-year-old daughter Riley, and Teddy is in need of a job, so with them both at a loose end, Teddy services ended up at Gus ranch to help with Riley. We have forced proximity a daughter and father relationship that is so sweet and endearing. I loved getting to know their story and highly recommend this book

Gus and Teddy have never liked each other, to say the least. Everyone knows it, everyone can see it. All their interactions are just plain mean. But given that Gus is Teddy's best friend's older brother, their bound to be around each other whether they like it or not. Now, Gus is co-parenting his daughter Riley with his friend Cam, who has to move away for the summer. Unfortunately, Gus doesn't have enough time to take care of Riley on his own. He needs a nanny. And who's better for the job than Teddy who is currently jobless and has known his daughter her entire life? What could go wrong?
That was a very fun read! Teddy and Gus' relationship is filled with banter and crazy chemistry. And the hairwashing scene???? So sweet and swoony!
I love the family dynamics and appreciate so many gang cameos! I'm so glad they are very present in all the books in this series.
Unfortunately, I kinda lost connection to the main duo around halfway through. I think the flashback chapter has ruined the story for me. Why oh why, would you make me believe I'm getting an actual real enemies-to-lovers romance where they both actually strongly despise each other, just to throw it all away? I'm so tired with this trope being done wrong. Why can't we have two characters who just can't stand each other, slowly fall in love?
Another thing, I coincidentally started reading "Heartless" by Elsie Silver on audio, and dang, these two are just insanely similar. With the latter being better written, imho. It's just impossible for me not to compare these two.
Anyways, I still had a good time with this book. If you enjoy single dad and nanny cowboy romances, you'll enjoy this one as well!
Foi lindo. Adorei.
Deu-me um conforto no coração.
Foi lindo, e em breve cá volto para escrever uma review mais longa <3
"I've got you, Teddy baby."
- small town
- cowboy romance
- single dad x nanny
- grumpy (him) x sunshine (her)
- best friend's brother
- forced proximity
- hate to love
- age gap (he's 8 years older)
- 🌶️🌶️/5
- dual pov
Lost and Lassoed is about two caretakers finding what they're missing in each other. A single dad and his little sister's best friend, who have disliked each other for years, discovering they have more in common than they realise.
"Both of us take care of other people, our families, our friends— you—and that makes us the only people who know how to take care of each other. It makes us good for each other."
Lost and Lassoed blends soft and tender moments with funny banter and a dash of spice. Some of the highlights include:
- Teddy's sweet relationship with Riley
- Gus taking care of Teddy
- Teddy teasing Gus and calling him Daddy
- How the book reads like a love letter to the best dads
- "Saddle up, baby" 🥵
- The character development: Gus accepts help (with a push from Teddy), and Teddy rediscovers her path in life.
Thank you to Quercus Books for the early copy!
Once again, Lyla Sage delivers on a fun time in Lost and Lassoed. I truly enjoyed getting to know Teddy and Gus, and enjoyed their enemies to lovers story. The spice and steam really delivered, while also following the character's personal struggles on a deeper level. I can't wait for the next one!
🤍Book review 🤍
Lost and Lassoed
by Lyla Sage
Lost and Lassoed is a fantastic addition to the Rebel Blue Ranch series! This book has it all—enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and a cowboy who goes from broody to totally endearing. Teddy and Gus have explosive chemistry from the start, with their banter and tension building beautifully until they finally give in. Teddy’s character feels so real; she’s flirty, vulnerable, and refreshingly authentic as she faces life’s uncertainties. I loved how her friendship with Gus’s sister, Riley, adds a deeper dimension to the story and really brings out her softer side.
While Gus’s grumpy attitude can be a bit much initially, getting into his POV reveals the reasons behind his guarded nature, making him all the more lovable. Their gradual journey from dislike to love is full of sweet and funny moments that kept me hooked. If you’re a fan of cowboy romance, single-dad characters, and classic rom-com tropes, this is a must-read!
Very grateful to the publisher for my copy, opinions are my own
thank you netgalley and the publisher for giving me a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
being honest, i enjoyed the first two books enough and thought this one was going to be THE BOOK for me yet it wasnt. i have been waiting for this story since the first book and i am saddened that i didnt enjoy it as much as i thought i would.
I liked teddys storyline. everything is changhing, her bff is getting married, her father has new people in his life as well and it feels like she is stuck, she is lost. as someone on my twenties i related a lot to it, everything is changing but you are the same person yet you are not, not knowing what to do and that envy you feel when you see people who have everything figured out... ooh teddy how i felt that. i was mad at how everyone seemed to see teddy and it felt unnecessary to make emmy say those things. it changed how i see emmy to me, i was mad as well that teddy mentioned how she felt like people didnt undertand her even when she explained herself and no one tried to understand her indeed, no deep conversation about how she truly feels and no one tried to ask her or idk talk about it.
I love a good banter and this was pretty good HOWEVER and i feel bad about saying this it felt too much like THAT OTHER COUPLE FROM ANOTHER BOOK. felt like i was rereading their story plus someone has to please explain to me why is it always the redhead who is wild and rebellious and flirty we are not in the middle ages pls!!
coming back to conversations, it felt like gus had deeper conversations with his family than teddy did, which is unfair bcs they both needed it. The writing sometimes felt flat and i found myself not feeling a single thing ( with the exception of Hank) which is quite disappointing. Plus the epilogue didnt need the smut and was more an introduction to the next book than an actual epilogue.
Overall, i read it quickly and it was fun but it could have been so much more
As there’s a huge fan base around these books I can imagine it will do really well. But for me it fell short again.
The overarching storyline was quite similar to Heartless, but not as charismatic. I found Teddy’s personality to be really annoying and she came across as desperate for attention from anyone and everyone (flirting with a vet in front of the man you’re dating just so your horse gets good treatment 🤷🏼♀️)
Gus was just angry and aggressive for no apparent reason, like who hurt you? Why are you so mad?
With all this being said I feel like Riley was the best character in the whole book! Took everything in her stride and was really funny, letting out the occasional swear word lol
I wish there was more on the Emmys wedding but I’m guessing that may be in the next book?
Overall it’s an “ok” read, if I hadn’t have already read Heartless maybe I’d have enjoyed it more but as they’re so similar I just kept comparing them to each other which is a me problem I suppose!
Thank you NetGalley for sending me this e-ARC

Her and Gus are total perfection! And Riley too.
