Another book where I lied to myself about reading only a couple of chapters, and ending up reading the whole book.
I have been curious about Gus and Teddy since book 2 of the series, and I absolutely loved them! One of the things that I appreciated the most was how the dynamics we were shown between Gus and Teddy in book 2 followed through in book 3. I relished how they were behaving like normal people with others, but were super prickly with each other. Sparks were flying, zingers were zinging, and soon enough, all that heat turned into undeniable attraction.
I really enjoy a great secondary cast, especially when they bring their own to the story: the parents, siblings, kid, best friends.
Lost and Lassoed is definitely my favorite from Lyla, and I can't wait to read Cam and Dusty next!
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
I absolutely love this series and this third book was no different. Gus and Teddy were perfect together and this book had so many tropes that I love; single dad x nanny, enemies to lovers, best friends brother and grumpy x sunshine.
Highly recommend this book and the rest of the series!
I have a soft spot for cowboys and ranches but having not read any of the authors previous books I was pleasantly surprised. I suppose I was expecting something more formulaic but the characters were so full of personality and acted so perfectly in character and the narrative is written to really fit them. The caustic banter and slow growth of the relationship hits just the right notes along the way and I loved the descriptions of the landscape and the ranch too. I will definitely be going back to read the previous title.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Quercus Books for accepting me for this ARC copy.
I have been waiting for Gus and Teddy’s story since the beginning and this truly did not disappoint. Oftentimes the banter and teasing goes away once it’s that couples turn but these two kept lighting up the pages.
But my favourite part had to be the way Lyla writes such relatable characters who are always much deeper than they seem at first. This book was amazing from. The start to the end and it is another amazing instalment to an amazing series.
This was a great second book follow up.. she did a good job.. this book wasnt as good as the first one but still really good.
UGH THESE BOOKS!! Lemme gather my thoughts before I write a full review but mostly it was beautiful and emotional and sassy and fun. Also give me Dusty’s book NOW!!!
There were so many good things about this book, but I think the beginning was a bit too slow and boring to make this a full five stars for me. Once we got into the meat of the story around ~35% it was really good, but not unputdownable.
I love both Teddy and Gus and they went through some shit in this book! I had tears in my eyes for a few chapters because things were rough there for a minute. Their character growth and relationship progression was so sweet and vulnerable. Just two baddies who are two soft for it all.
Read if you like:
😤 enemies to lovers
🧑🧒 single dad and nanny
🌶️ medium spice (3/5)
🐴 cowboys
🏡 small town romance

I've been waiting on Teddy and Gus since I read the first chapter of Done and Dusted. I knew that amount of hate would sizzle into something more 😏 The tropes in this book are some of my favourite - single Dad/nanny, best friend's brother, forced proximity. I love how Teddy and Gus realised they are both more similar than they thought and the perfect fit for each other. I kind of expected more fireworks from them and I felt let down by Emmy and her original reaction.
Meadowlark tempted me in and I'll be coming back for Dusty and Cam!
I really enjoyed this, its by far my favourite of the series. One thing i love about this book, and really the series as a whole, is how quick and easy it is to read. They're just a good time! I finished this within 24 hours.
Teddy might be my favourite character so far. While this is a romance book and the romance is great, the relationship I loved the most in this is the one between Teddy and Emmy. The conversations they have in this and how they handle things is so realistic. I don't know any woman that hasn't been through situations like this as they get older. Its an awful feeling and I'm so glad to see it get a spotlight.
I have previously read the first two books in this series and absolutely loved them! Read both in one sitting and this 3rd book in the series is no exception!
I love the cowboy themes to these romance books.
Would definitely recommend.
When I got this arc I was very excited. I have to admit I didn’t read the first books before I dove into this one. At first, the book felt quite familiar. I did enjoy Lyla Sage’s writing style, however I think I’m just not a cowboy romance lover. During a big part of the book I didn’t feel a strong connection between Gus and Teddy. That could be because I haven’t read the other books but their pairing didn’t feel super natural for me. I did really enjoy the friendship between Emmy and Teddy.

SYNOPSIS
Everything is changing in Teddy Andersen’s life and she’s starting to feel like she’s getting left behind - and even wondering if the life she lives in her small town is enough for her anymore. Gus Ryder has a lot on his plate, between taking care of his family’s ranch and looking after his six year old for the Summer. He finally admits that his workload is becoming too much, and he can’t do everything on his own - the woman he can’t stand is his only option.
They despise each other but it’ll help Gus, and give Teddy the chance to figure out what she wants to do with her life going forward. Tension builds between the two until they start to see each other in a different light, and they need to decide whether or not to act on their feelings.
REVIEW
I think Gus and Teddy’s book is the best in the series so far—I had a good feeling about these two! 💕 Also, I really love this cover. The tension between them was obviously still there, and I appreciated that they gradually realized their feelings for each other—no insta-love here. It was great to see the deeper sides of their characters, how they recognized their similarities, and how they were able to build trust in one another.
Gus was so cute once his grumpiness started to fade, and his interactions with his daughter, Riley, were still adorable. The only thing I wish there had been more of was the Ryder family’s reaction to their relationship—especially since everyone has only known them to hate each other.
I loved this book. I binged it. And I’m really excited for Cam and Dusty’s story next! 🤠
Lost and Lassoed, ropes you in with charm and heart!
This Western romance shines as a delightful, feel-good read. The chemistry between the rugged cowboy and the sassy city girl sparks from the first chapter, making you root for them all the way.
With witty banter that has you kicking your feet, scenic ranch settings, and a dash of cowboy swagger, it’s the perfect blend of lighthearted fun and swoon-worthy moments.
The plot moves quickly, keeping you engaged without getting too serious, making it an ideal pick-me-up.
If you’re in the mood for romance with a wild west twist, this one’s without a doubt, a keeper!
Huge thank you to Quercus Books and author Lyla Sage for providing me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review! I loved this book so much
This was exactly what i was expecting for this book!!!! It fits in so nicely with the rest of the series (might actually be my favourite so far) and was everything and more that i could have been wanting from a cowboy/small town romance!!! <3 This series will always have a special place in my heart, and i don't think i will ever stop talking about HOW FREAKING GOOD THIS ONE WAS
I don't want to give anything away because that would be mean, and i think if you're going to read this you need to go into it completely blind from what other people are saying.
I think that this was the most well thought out and well rounded out of all of the Rebel Blue Ranch books, which just made everything that happened so gut wrenching and beautiful! Every little detail was amazing, and the romance between them WAS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!! It was a long time coming and i was just kicking my feet and giggling at every little interaction that they had (obviously because it was going to be a happily ever after i wasn't worried too much when things were a bit rocky)
It had all of the tropes and more that I LOVE when reading a cheesy romance and i just couldn't get enough!! Honestly this could have been a a thousand pages long and i would have been happy to read every single one. Trope wise were talking;
- sisters best friend/best friends brother
- enemies to lovers
- SINGLE DAD
- nanny x boss
- grumpy x sunshine
- dual POV
- happily ever after
Again, this was delicious, the best so far in the series, and an absolute pleasure to read!!! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book, and i really hope that everyone enjoyed this as much as i did!!!
Thank you so so so much to the publisher, Lala Sage and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read a copy of this early! <3
One of the best things about this book were the dad relationships - Gus & Riley and Teddy & Hank, and also how Gus interacted with his dad. I really loved seeing all their moments together. I especially loved the author's letter and notes to her dad in the back of the book. I thought that was fantastic!
There were some great moments in the beginning between Gus and Teddy with their banter. And I did like how they got to change their view of the other as they saw them in more personal situations. I did not think the event between them that inspired the "hatred" was substantial. I mean my thought was - "That's it?!"
Also, I would say this book is spicier than the other 2. It was a little much for me, but that's not to say others won't love it.
omg this book was so good!!! geddy has entered the chat! if you have read lyla's other two books, you will know that gus is the eldest ryder sibling and teddy is emmy's bff .. oh and also that they both hate each other. so expect sparks to fly when teddy loses her job and accepts a nanny position with gus during the summer break. i loved this beautiful book and particularly lyla's work around parental relationships. full aesthetic edit on my insta real soon. also sign me up for wild and wrangled IMMEDIATELY.
Easiest 5 stars ever, when i really sat down to read i completely flew through! Their dynamic and relationship throughout the book felt so natural and complete + the selfhrowth they both had was amazing to read about
Gus and teddy showed me its okay to feel alot<3
When Teddy's boss tells her she's sold the boutique, and Teddy's now out of a job, she feels like it's one more blow to her carefully constructed world. Her best friend suggests that Teddy becomes the babysitter for her hot-but-annoying brother's daughter, Teddy balks at the idea but winds up agreeing because she really does like the kiddo, and Gus clearly needs the help. The enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity tropes come into play, along with hot nanny/hot boss and grumpy/sunshine.
While this is part of a series, I didn't feel like I was missing anything by starting from book three. Though the ending feels far too open, mostly because it sets up the premise for what is due to be book 4. I snagged this in my effort to read a book from every state, but it's cute enough to make me glad it's the one I chose. There's a LOT to this book that is very Wyoming and very NOT New Jersey. It's set mostly on our around a dude ranch, there's lots of horses and mountains. And I love the fact that Teddy and the daughter, Riley, go hunting for native plants as a way to pass their time is adorable.
This was cute, and I'm not against the idea of continuing the rest of the series (though perhaps when I'm not already swamped with other stuff)! I love the way Gus is so focused on being a great dad for his daughter. Teddy is sometimes a little TOO sunshine, but not too the detriment of the overall story. This is a cute cowboy series for sure.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy via NetGalley in return for sharing my thoughts on this book. Thanks to the author and publisher for this opportunity!
I was so happy to be approved to read this book! I loved book 1, about as much as this one. Book 2 was a little bit different, but I’d read all of the books in this series anyway.
Gus and Teddy had a great build up during the previous books, and their banter was funny! The author was good at pacing everything out, which would be quite difficult.
I feel like, everything that was meant to happen in this book, happened. Nothing was left out. The issues with Cam, Riley and Emmy were handled wonderfully.
Now I can’t wait to read Cam’s book!
“So, what do you say, Teddy Andersen? Fancy a summer job?”
Oh boy, what an adventure it has been 😍. Miss Lyla Sage delivered once again !!
In the previous 2 Rebel Blue Ranch books we were already witness to the fiery combo that is Gus & Teddy. So I was super elated when I got their story as a Wished ARC on Netgalley 💌.
As you might expect, this duo’s banter is off 👏 the 👏 charts 👏. Yes, every interaction quickly becomes explosive for Rebel Blue’s own enemies-to-lovers when Teddy starts as a summer-nanny for Gus’ daughter Riley. I enjoyed discovering their backstory, and getting so many lovely flower picking moments with Riley as a cute reward.
From drunken kisses to stuck in a bar cellar, over games of twister and Vet jealousy to lifting a life time Rebel Blue ban. So many amazing moments make for a wonderful & lovely read to continue the Ryder family love stories. In short, this is your next should-read small town romance that will quickly become your latest favourite !!
For me this book also showed dads as real life heroes 💖. First we get Amos Ryder in his recurring role as the family guide and rock jasmine whisperer. He is also a wonderful role model for Gus who in turn is a real girl dad and would do anything for Riley. Like pre-reading her books so that his dyslexia would not interfere with bedtime story tales. And last but not least rock legend Hank, who gave up his rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle in an instant for his baby girls. He made Teddy into the awesome person she is, plus he’s just the coolest dad around.
Thank you to Quercus and NetGalley for the chance to read a free advanced copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Quercus Books for this Arc! I waited so long for it and it was amazing 🤩
Lost and Lassoed is the third installment in the Rebel Blue Ranch series, and without a doubt, it’s my favorite so far! 🐎
I fell head over heels for Gus and Teddy back in Done and Dusted, so I was beyond excited to dive into their stories. While we got glimpses of their lives in the previous books, getting an in-depth look at their journeys in Lost and Lassoed was absolutely perfect!
Because we had time to meet these characters earlier in the series, I felt like Gus and Teddy had so many more layers to their personalities compared to, say, Wes. (Don't get me wrong, I loved Wes, but I needed a bit more depth to really understand him—especially when it came to how his depression was portrayed, which felt a bit too light for me.)
But back to Gus and Teddy…
Theodora was my soulmate! 💕 I completely resonated with her struggles, responsibilities, and insecurities. Her character arc? Absolute perfection!
And August? 🔥 He was everything! A single dad with that perfect mix of brooding and caring, quiet yet so attentive. The nicknames they gave each other? Pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥!
This book is an easy 5 stars for me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Mark your calendars for November 5th because you need to pick this one up—it’s so worth it!
