First of all, I read this SO quickly. I listened to the audio version and found myself wanting to listen all day every day - I ended up finishing the book in less than 48 hours.

This is the perfect romantasy / mixed with a hallmark film kind of vibe for me. A feel good, easy to listen to romance but with fae and magic plus lots of great tropes (one bed, one horse haha, found family, enemies to lovers).
The concept of the plot was so interesting to me. The first chapters of world building I was immediately hooked. I feel as though this one book could have been fleshed out into multiple and really explored different elements of the plot and kept me guessing with twists and turns but I do appreciate a ‘stand alone’ since my tbr is endless!
I loved the characters, loved the overarching plot - really looking forward to reading Faint Hearted when it comes up. I’m interested to see where it’ll go whilst being different to Cold Hearted.

Thank you to the authors and NetGalley for the ARC 🫶

"Cold Hearted" offers an interconnected fantasy romance with a satisfying happily ever after! Catering to fans of enemies-to-lovers, fated mates, forced proximity, and assassin princesses, this book presents a refreshing take on the fae romantasy genre. Dawn and Zander are intriguing characters, and the premise, plot, and world-building are all compelling. While the writing is brilliant and the world-building fantastic, I did find the pacing a bit rushed at times, likely due to fitting everything into a standalone. Nonetheless, I'm eagerly anticipating "Faint Hearted.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Audio for the ARC of this audiobook.

I was excited for the story, but unfortunately I didn't feel like it lived up to it's potential. It was supposed to be a slow-burn romance, but for me it felt more insta-lovey with forbidden yearning. I liked the hidden identity part and the romance when they actually got together. They were a cute couple, but again, love at first sight. Which makes sense further into the book, but it shouldn't be laid out as a slow burn romance. Additionally I felt thrown into the story without any worldbuilding, which I found very confusing in the start. The ending was however, very good and makes me want to read the next book in the series.

Thank you Harper Collins UK Audio and NetGalley for advanced access to the audiobook of Cold Hearted by Leia Stone and Julie Hall
in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

There is no question that Cold Hearted is the first in a fast paced, action packed, romantasy. The narrators Vanessa Moyen and Adam Gold did a really good job bringing the protagonists to life - complete with the arrogance, self-assurance and at times idiocy of both core characters’ choices.

Whilst the story itself has a well designed and crafted plot, I couldn’t really connect with the characters but, I think if I’d been the age of the target audience I’d be much more engaged. The narrators did a sterling job of bringing the cast and characters to life and I was entertained listening to this book as I walked the dogs and got jobs done.

I really enjoyed this fast paced, action packed, romantic fantasy! The narrators were great and easy to listen to. There were tropes such as enemies to lovers, forbidden romance and only one bed. The romance was sweet and I enjoyed their chemistry. Theren wasn't any real on page spice.. it was implied though, which I don't mind! I thought the world building was interesting, and I hope to learn more about the two different worlds in the next book! I can't wait to read the next book, which I assume will be Arabella's POV!

Great audiobook!

I've never heard of this author before but thought I would give it a try and it was great, I am thoroughly looking forward to reading future books in this series!

The 'twist' was a little predictable

I listened to the audiobook of this via NetGalley, I thought the narrators did a really decent job of this book and found my self more or less engaged from the get go. The story is lacking in my opinion, I can’t put my finger on where though as there are lots of tropes, slow burn romance and enemies to lovers which is right up my street! It just didn’t feel like it had any substance to the story. However I did enjoy listening to this audiobook while I was doing my housework and the narrators voice for Zander was just perfect.

I am so picky with audiobook narrators but I loved these! I love forbidden love/enemies to lovers and this did not disappoint! I’ve already recommended it to everyone I know

Cold Hearted was such an enjoyable read. It was fast paced, action packed and so easy to read. I devoured 81% of it in one sitting. Everything in it seemed to develop quickly including the romance which I didn't mind at all. However I felt like the last 20% or so was different from the rest of it, it felt rushed. It was still enjoyable yet jarring at the same time. That said, I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I liked the narrators. I loved the way they embodied these characters and their journey. I definitely recommend to those looking for a quick and fast paced read.
