This book is so much fun! My son and I both laughed so hard. I love the love/hate relationship between cats and dogs. I’m definitely a cat person, so I appreciated the humor from the cat’s point of view. The illustrations are bright and colorful. I love the unique style of the illustrations! Definitely recommend reading this book with the young kids in your life!
Look at the happy dog's face on the cover. That's the dog the author Cat has issues with. Then notice the rather resting irritated face of the cat. A. Cat doesn't like dogs. In fact, he thinks they're stupid. Well, since I gave pause at that word as I read it aloud, albeit only to my dog at that moment, I'm sure that word will give pause to some parents but, let's face it. If that's the worst word our children learn, insulting and belittling as it is, we should be thankful in this day of round-the-clock profanity about everywhere. In any case, I decided it really didn't bother me and, hey, it didn't bother my furry canine, so worked for me. Other than that brief moment, and it is quite brief, I grinned at the illustrations and enjoyed the cat's tale. Bet your little ones will enjoy it and, hey, if you're bothered by any word, there's nothing stopping you from using another or choosing to talk to your child about word choices being important as well as being different isn't wrong. In any case....
The blurb tells the story nicely, so I won't dwell on that. The illustrations are adorable and capture both movement and expressions well. Given my own dog's dislike of squirrels, I particularly liked the picture showing the dog chasing a squirrel up a tree, something Cat disapproves of greatly. The way the dog's wildly wagging tail is illustrated at one point makes it almost jump off the page, btw. The one of the cow saying "Pooooo" as the dog rolled happily in what appears to be a quite dirty, stinky mud puddle was cute, too. In fact, Cat can't seem to find anything good about dogs....until....you guessed it, they prove useful. I'll leave that to you to discover. The illustrations are largely in soft pastel colors, adding warmth to the tale, I will note, and I liked that we meet more than one type of dog, from big and small to even "cop" dogs. Nice touch. I guess my furry girl falls into the squirrel chasing category albeit she's never gotten close to catching one. Maybe this section could lead to a discussion with children about appearances being deceiving? In any case, A. Cat, your secret is safe with me. I won't give away your secret.
Thanks #NetGalley and #QuartoPublishingGroup - #FrancesLincolnChildren'sBooks - #HappyYak for sharing this cute, humorous story with me. Even my dog enjoyed it, especially the ending. That last illustration is darling.
This was freaking CUTE! Laughing on page one and “aww”-ing on the last page. The illustrations were perfect - I loved the colored pencil look of them. I’ll likely buy a physical copy of this book!
I loved the cat’s snarky humor with illustrations that were so cute they made me smile. Children are sure to giggle when the cat learns how helpful dog friends can be. Delightful picture book for cat and dog fans.
A delightfully silly guide to dogs, authored by a disgruntled cat. Very, very cute and plenty of giggles for the littlest kids as well as the adult(-ish!) person reading it aloud.
Suitable for toddlers/preschoolers and of course anyone else.
Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for access to this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
All You Need To Know About Dogs by Fred Blunt is a wonderful book about cats and dogs written by a cat. The story is cute. I am sure my granddaughter would love the book. I cannot wait to buy it and read to her.
This was a super cute book with bright, happy and fun illustrations. Dog and cat lovers will both adore it. I think it’s perfect for pre-schoolers to first graders and if I was still teaching I’d definitely add it to my stash of pet books. I highly recommend it!
This absolutely charming and very funny picture book for young readers (4-6) made this adult guffaw! The illustrations and story are delightful, as an opinionated cat (aren't they all) tells all the things she dislikes about dogs until ... a group of them come to her rescue. Highly recommended for kids and adults who love to laugh!
This book had my kids giggling the whole time! The illustrations were fun and incredibly engaging to them, and they giggled at all the different types of dogs that the cat describes.
I enjoy a grumpy cat and this feline is definitely grumpy and adorable! 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗗𝗢𝗚𝗦 is an entertaining and engaging read that young children will love. Simple and easy to read with illustrations that are spot on. I can’t wait to read it to my kids.
This was such a fun and adorable short read. All You Need to Know About Dogs is a fun take on the age old question which is better Cats or Dogs. Great book for animal lovers of all ages.
This was a lovely story with vibrant illustrations. I liked the added intrigue of the cat as author! Definitely one I'll look out for to gift to young readers.
This is such a heartwarming read. It’s very cute to see dogs from the perspective of a cat. Typically, we see a lot of animosity between these two animals but this was a different take on their bond. This will be a very fun book to read to your kids. The illustrations were beautiful and easy to understand with vibrant colours which kids will be very drawn to. Overall I would say this is 5 star read for parents with children at home or even if you’re an adult looking for something lighthearted to read.
A fun rhyming text with two endings. You get the short version, very blunt and to the point. then you get the elaborte version, as told by a matter-of-fact cat. It's witty, or as witty as can be with a kids book, and highlights all the things that would appeal to the audience and entertain them. As an adult reading to a little one, the irony is apparent, providing humor to all who encounter the book.
Perfectly aimed at the target audience, the book would be a tresure on nursery bookshelves. I imagine this is a book that will be enjoyed time and time again, particularly by young dog lovers/owners who will enjoy comparing their pooch to the ones they meet in the story.
My little girl loves books and she loves dogs, so this book honestly feels like it was made for her! The artwork is adorable, and it's not too overstimulating despite being very colorful and fun. I love the variety of descriptive words that are used along with the illustrations of different kinds of dogs, and I, a grown woman, laughed out loud multiple times. My girl is definitely going to be getting the giggles over this one, and we are most certainly going to be buying a physical copy when it’s released.

Fun and very much a true light hearted relationship between cat and dogs, but also liked the message that loyality is important Lovely illustrations.
This book is simply adorable. I read it as soon as I downloaded it. The illustrations are captivating and the story is engaging yet simple enough for young learners. As an early childhood educator, I can’t wait to read this book to my students! Thank you, NetGalley and Fred Blunt!

A dog is the best friend you can have! What a cute book and great illustrations. My grandchildren will love it too.
This was a beautifully illustrated book, on how differences can create beautiful friendships. You laughed throughout the pages!
