This was a cute concept with fun illustrations. It’s a good idea to talk about how dogs and cats view each other. However, as a children’s book, I would have picked a different way to describe how the cat views dogs than “stupid”.
This book was amazing!! The illustrations were adorable, the writing was funny, and the message was wholesome. My children loved it as much as I did, I highly recommend it!!
Cute book for a dog lover or cat lover. This book is about dogs from a cats point of view. Great for preschool children.
I read it just as I downloaded it and it's so cute , funny and adorable. It's 12.32 Am here and my kid is fast asleep. Otherwise I would have shown this book to her because she loves dogs. She loves dogs more than anything in the world, even her Mama not her Dada of course.
This is just something that would be a fun read for younger kids. Especially at a playschool or at home. Kids will definitely enjoy it.
Thank you so much Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books | Happy Yak for the wonderful ARC in exchange of an honest review.
I found this book to be so cute! I love the illustrations and it’s a very easy read for kids. The story line is very entertaining and I think it could make kids laugh.
However, since it’s a children’s book, I don’t think it was a good idea to use the word “stupid”. I know it goes with the story about a cat that doesn’t like dogs and thinks they are not very smart but it is a strong word that most parents don’t want their children to learn so young.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
This was a really cute book. I liked the quirky and bright illustrations and the simple, yet effective, narration. The story reads like one sibling describing another - lots of downsides, but at the end of the day, they love each other. Just like this cat and their dog friend - they may be different, but friendship is the underlying message. A simple and cute story!
This book is absolutely adorable. The illustrations are amazing, and the story itself is SO cute. You start off thinking that cats really hate dogs, but no...they know just as well as anyone that a dog can be a person (or cat's) best friend. My littlest library patrons would LOVE this book, and it would make a great addition to storytime hour. Highly recommended to everyone. You'll love it!
This book would have been funny and silly, but I don't understand why we need to use the word "stupid" in a children's book for young kids.
Very cute book about Dogs as narrated with a little comic bias by a cat. Silly and fun picture book with colorful illustrations. Perfect to read to preschoolers and up.
A funny, silly book written by a cat! Children will enjoy this book as it is written from a cat’s perspective regarding dogs. The illustrations are beautifully drawn, and very colorful, humorous and captivating. The story is one that will be appealing to children as it utilizes their type of humor. The book ends with a type of lesson about the risks of mis-judging and dismissing others too quickly, i think kids will really enjoy this book! I appreciate the opportunity to review this book and thank NetGalley and the publisher.
What a fun-loving story! This is a very educational book - from the cat’s point of view, that is. Very funny and love the ending. Kids and parents will get a big kick out of the cat as they read this book that has the dog as the main subject.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is absolutely adorable. From the first pages where I laughed out loud, to the precious ending, it was such a fun and charming read. Accompanied by lovely illustrations. A book to make parents smile and delight the hearts of children. Dogs are not stupid - the end.
Very cute book about dogs and cats from the perspective of a cat! I appreciate that the cat finds a positive thing to say about the dog in the end but I do not like the use of the word "stupid" multiple times in the book. I could imagine reading this to my 3-year-old if not for that word. It is not even in her vocabulary yet, thankfully, and I would not want to introduce it in a "cutesy" way. Otherwise, the illustrations are great and I like the rhyming parts as well.
This was such a cute and funny read overall and I could definitely imagine my cat agreeing with this.
The idea behind this book intrigued me, and after reading it, it did not disappoint! The narrator cat talking about all the types of dogs is very humorous. It is a very quick read and would be a great bedtime story for any child. The images are also creative with a great variety of expressions on the animal faces. It had a nice, uplifting ending that any pet-lover would enjoy. Great book!
Brilliantly funny book that is so close to the their it’ll have the adult reading it laughing as well as the children! The illustrations are superb, whimsical, cartoony add great fun! I am going to thoroughly enjoy reading this aloud to the class .
Free Blunt is a talented artist: he can, not only draw, but also write a story.
This is a funny book narrated by a funny character (no spoilers) and summarises points about why dogs are adorable.
The mannerisms of the characters are very funny. Perfect book about dogs (and some other animals have guest appearances) for toddlers and young readers.
As fervent cat lovers, we were sucked right in by this bright cover and cute ‘by A. Cat’. This was such a fun read!
The prose is snappy and snarky and great fun to read aloud. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments, and we loved the twist ending.
The illustrations perfectly capture the earnest nature of a dog and the cynical cat. They have a great sense of movement and texture and some almost leap off the page.
Thank you Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
This is a very cute children’s book. The illustrations are fantastic, they look great while still appealing to the child’s eye. As a pet owning family we relate to the cats story and definitely believe that is exactly how our cats view our dog. Overall super cute and great for the kiddos.
This was a cute, short, and funny read. As an elementary librarian, I am always on the lookout for good read-alouds, and this book will do the trick! Simple but interactive. The narrator, though biased, was endearing. I liked the inclusion of concepts (like opposites and comparisons). The illustrations were cute too. Will it make you more of a dog person or cat person? You'll have to read it and find out! Will definitely add this to our library collection once it's available.
