I loved this book!
The incredible insight into commercial kitchens, the downfalls, exhaustion and mental health issues that don't only affect kitchen staff, but how these issues can be worse for female chefs. The writing is at times raw, transparent and poignant, while other times enraging the inner feminist in me.
I'm a huge fan of Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen and similar, but this book has really been an eye opener about why these types of shows may be problematic rather than entertaining.
Sally is such an inspiration. I really loved parts where she saw herself molding into her male predecessors, but rather than continue the cycle of MH issues, abuse and similar, she's worked at ways to create such a safe and thriving environment for herself and her staff. FABULOUS!

If you’ve ever wondered what it is like to be a woman in a professional kitchen this is for you. Sally’s sheer graft is amazing. In a short time she’s moved from entry level to executive chef. One of her missions is to support women to thrive inland succeed ib the kitchen.

Fast paced and fascinating, definitely a must read book

This isn't my usual read but I was intrigued to find out more about female chef's experiences and I was definitely surprised to learn about the more negative experiences. A Woman's Place is in the Kitchen is something so many of us women have heard but it seems from reading this the professional kitchens are not a place where women are respected. I am glad I read this as it has definitely highlighted long standing issues that need to be resolved for women to feel safe and have the respect they deserve in their professional culinary careers.
