Loreth Anne White does it again! This is a fast and twisty read perfect for an afternoon at the beach or curled up on the couch. I particularly liked the way the flash forwardy bits allowed for the sprinkling of some red herring crumbs. Altogether an excellent example of white lady thriller.

Banger alert!! This book had me all turned around in the best possible way. I was fully prepared to give this book a 4-star rating until White stunned me into silence with her mic drop plot twist. My jaw literally dropped on the floor. There was so much more to this story than meets the eye. I loved every minute of this book and flew through it in a day. It was a compelling, intense read that hooked me right from the start. White's writing flows beautifully and perfectly depicts the scene and the nature of her characters. I wasn't sure at first about the podcast/movie interviews. I felt like they were giving away too much of the story, but boy was I wrong. Nothing is what it seems in this book. I highly recommend this one! White is a phenomenal psychological thriller author and I strongly encourage you to read her books!

Thank you to the author, Montlake, and NetGalley for granting me digital access in exchange for my honest review!

Chloe Cooper has a busy, unfulfilling life. She is a star bartender, an artist, a carer for her ailing mother, and a dog walker.
A couple move in across the road, and Chloe takes an instant dislike to the man, Adam, but is obsessed with Jemma. She watches them whenever she can, and makes a point of watching Jemma take her morning swim.
Until the day she sees a man on a jet ski deliberately hit the swimmer and race off.

This is a very twisty novel, written documentary style. I am not sure I am a fan of that, but nevertheless, I did enjoy the plot and twists.

There is a lot to unpack in this book, and one twist leads to another with a bigger punch!

I recommend.

Thanks to Netgalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read this book.

This book was phenomenal!! I truly could not put this book down! I don’t know how Loreth Anne White continues to write 5 star thriller after 5 star thriller!!! All the characters were chef’s kiss. I feel like you really get a sense of each character and what they’ve gone through without too much fluff. I LOVED Chloe!!! I know she’s a little on the odd side, but I mean aren’t we are?! I was on the edge of my seat to find out if it was her or not! I truly just loved this story! I love how it flowed between the story and the interview for the TV show! I loved the ending, and I loved how every question gets answered. If you know me, you know how much I love that!! You are truly going to want to add this to your TBR!!

Ever read a book so good you don't want it to end but then again you can't read fast enough to see how it ends? That's how this book was for me. I was so engrossed in the story that I wanted it to keep going but at the same time I needed answers and needed them now.

The action in this book starts at the very beginning and keeps going until the end. There are lots of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end.

I loved the pace of the story and the way it flowed from one chapter to the next. Short chapters kept the story moving along. I also liked the documentary chapters mixed in. It kept the story fresh.

The main character, Chloe Cooper, was so well written. She is odd, could be described as weird or creepy, but there is a vulnerability about her that made me really like her and want things to turn out OK for her. Jemma was a character I wanted to like and felt sorry for yet didn't trust. Adam was just a character I didn't care for. I enjoyed this diverse cast of characters because they made the story really interesting.

This book is definitely a must read in my opinion. Loreth Anne White writes psychological thrillers like nobody else. Her stories are intriguing and will have you hooked from the first page!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion which I have given.

This is a brilliantly twisty story about an older, unhappily married couple, and the odd, isolated younger woman who becomes obsessed with them.

When socially-challenged Chloe Cooper discovers that respected surgeon Adam Spengler is cheating on his devoted wife Jemma, Chloe is outraged on the latter's behalf. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Adam has a child with his mistress, Gloria, who is putting pressure on him to leave his wife.

Given that the couple lost both their own children to illness, this is likely to be a particularly problematic issue for Jemma to accept.

But there is a lot more to this story, and no one is exactly who they seem to be. Twist after twist is deftly delivered, and the reader remains gripped throughout. With The Swimmer, White has certainly delivered a thriller worth reading. It gets 4.5 stars.

Auto buy author alert! I love Loreth Anne White’s book. I’ve read quite a few and I know she does not disappoint. so when I saw this on NetGalley, I had to request this, no questions asked. Thanks Montlake for allowing me to read this. I promise, all opinions are my own!

So I went blind into this. When you find an author that you trust, I find that there’s no need to read the description.

And holy mother of all things holy, this was a book! I loved every page of it! Luckily I had a day off, so I had all the time in the world to read this! I’d say this is her best one up to date and one of my highlights of this year so far!

I am usually not into documentary style books, so I was a bit scared at first. But I came to the conclusion that this was so well done, I didn’t mind one of my least favourite tropes. Kudos for making me like it. 😂

With many thrillers you get unbelievable characters. But the characters in this book are so incredible real and well written. I loved how they were portrayed , flaws, fears, everything. I loved how awkward and even misunderstood Chloe was, but in the end it came all together so beautifully.

Chloe is socially awkward and feels most comfortable caring for her mother and walking her dog. She sees everything, but from a safe distance. When she witnesses a murder, she starts to suspect her perfect neighbours… hups….

Don’t walk to your bookstore, RUN!

⭐️Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy. All opinions are my own, I was under no obligation to review.

There is something about Loreth Anne White's books that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to put down once started. What a phenomenal ride this one was! I absolutely devoured this one and loved every second of it.

Awkward Chloe Cooper lives a sheltered and anxious life dog walking, working at a local bar and caring for her mother. She has a tendency to people watch and create stories of their lives in her mind. Her curiosity is spiked when she sees the new spicey couple move in across the alley, social media influencer Jemma and her surgeon husband Adam. Little does she know; Jemma and Adam are less than perfect, and their marriage is in shambles.

While taking her pup on a walk along the beach, Chloe witnesses the murder of a swimmer. She immediately recognizes the perpetrator and suddenly sees her newfound neighbors in a very different and darker light.

The twists are some that you will not see coming. This entire storyline is thrilling and suspenseful keeping you on the edge of your seat.
I could not put this one down.

Thank you, Loreth Anne White, for another phenomenal read. And thank you NetGalley and Montlake for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m fully convinced Loreth Anne White sprinkles a little crack in her books because once I start one, I literally cannot stop til I finish it. From start to finish, every minute of it is addicting and riveting, and always with the most satisfying endings.

The Swimmer follows Chloe Cooper, who is a lovable little weirdo, as she essentially stalks the couple next door. She slowly finds out secrets about them and it all comes to a head when Chloe witnesses a murder. You truly won’t be able to guess where the story goes from there.

This was a twisty, thrilling, edge of your seat type book that you physically couldn’t put down but also didn’t want to end. The only negative is now having to wait for Loreths next book. She’s truly one of very few authors that are consistently putting out 5 ⭐️ books and I eat them up every time.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! 🏊‍♀️ 🌊

This book was not a favorite of mine even though I love her previous works. I’d recommend to a certain audience but not people who have book tastes similar to mine.

Loreth Anne White writes another banger! This one might be the best yet. The story starts out with our main character Chloe witnessing a murder of a swimmer. We then get a look into Chloe's neighbors, who she spies on and is certain the husband is the one to murder the swimmer. But is Chloe a reliable source? This story is one wild ride with a ton of twists and unpredictability. This is another one not to miss!

Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

White is an auto read author for me! I read this asap and I read it in 2 sittings. Like any White book, nothing in this story is as it seems. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, something else would be revealed that absolutely floored me. This was such a fun read!

Holy crap, what a banger this was. Warning: Do not start this book if you have single other thing to do because you won't do it. You won't sleep, parent, work, cook, take care of your house or give a crap about any of the above until you have finished this book and learn how it ends.

I was mesmerized, transfixed and held captive and I couldn't put it down until I figured out who got croaked...why, how and by whom! And oh, boy!!!!

The hits just kept coming...Chloe was fascinating and so was Jemma. I was captivated by their dynamic and Adam and Gloria were the icing on the dysfunctional cake.

Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy and keeping me awake until 3AM. It is my pleasure to write an honest review.

***This is my favorite Loreth Anne White book and I have read her entire catalog!!***

The Swimmer by Loreth Anne White is a chilling and intricately written story of suspense. The novel follows socially awkward Chloe Cooper, who spends her days dog walking, bartending, and caring for her mother, all while observing her new neighbors from a safe distance. The author expertly builds tension and intrigue as Chloe witnesses a murder, leading her to suspect that her seemingly perfect neighbors might be hiding dark secrets. As Chloe becomes entangled in the investigation, she discovers that everyone, including herself, has secrets that could unravel their lives.

Such a wonderful read!

Thank you to #NetGalley for the opportunity to provide my honest review of #TheSwimmer by @lorethannewhite
Another incredible suspense novel by Loreth Anne White. I am a fan of her other books, and The Swimmer did NOT disappoint.

The story is fast-paced and keeps the reader guessing in delicious ways all the way to the ending.

Chloe Cooper, who is caring for her dying mother, is so fearful of the world around her (The reader does get filled in on why this is by the end of the book). Chloe paints hauntingly beautiful canvases as a hobby. Gloria, an interested art gallery owner, says, “they capture aloneness… A sense of longing, yearning. I think this is something everyone can identify with.” They are compared to the works of Edward Hopper by multiple characters. Chloe’s secret though is that she often paints as the outsider looking in. She is a watcher. And the new neighbors across the alley, Dr. Adam Spengler and Jemma Spengler, make watching so much more compelling in their modern home with no curtains. Chloe becomes obsessed with Jemma, watching her house as well as Jemma’s daily swims in Jerrin Bay in the Pacific NW.

I appreciate that this novel’s characters are more mature. The women, in particular, are dealing with aging, parent caregiving, husband’s affairs, divorces and empty nests. Friendships play a large role in supporting this time in their lives. There are also five puppies in the story! Five paws with the five stars. This book uses the modern trope of true crime reporting to give insights from other characters from friends to the police investigator.

I highly recommend reading this book, publication date September 10, 2024. Thank you!

Holy Mother of Gawd…. If there ever was a day that I didn’t want to go to work ….TODAY IS THAT DAY! 😭
-That’s what I said to myself earlier yesterday. Then I proceeded to finish late into the night until 4am. Wow! What a phenomenal ride this was!

The Swimmer by Loreth Anne White is one hell of a BANGER! Shocking Twists just keep coming! This might be her best work yet! It’s made it to the top of 2024, favorite of the year!

Lonely neighbor, dog walker and creepy snoop stalks her neighbors. Meet Chloe. The couple across the way are so fascinating to Chloe. However, something is just not right about them.

Chloe witnesses a murder. The swimmer. From there, this story goes balls to the wall! The tension in this so extreme that my heart literally raced the whole last half!

A deep look into depths of drives humans and the evil that lurks there. The characterization is riveting! You will long and root for one particular character all the way until the end!

💥Told as part documentary and past events, with Trinity back in action ( from Beneath Devils Bridge)!

One not to be missed! Favorite of 2024! 5 ⭐️

💥 Huge gratitude to Loreth, Montlake and NetGalley for the phenomenal opportunity! 💥
