This book is action packed and full of great scenes. The swat team difficulties make it seem believable as real life issues and ordinary people. I enjoyed the story and the action. I struggled with the jump back and forth between times. It’s just not something I enjoy in a book but know lots who do. Once the connection was clear I didn’t mind as much. Overall this is a good book and I read it quickly as it pulls you in.

I loved reading Target Aquired. There was some great suspense, especially at the end when I started reading faster to find out what happened! And it had the perfect amount of romance too.

I've been waiting for the release of this book! I read the first book in this series and was immediately hooked. I love that I can read thrillers that are still wholesome and include an uplifting message amongst the suspense, mystery, and thrill. There's also romance which was pure and spice free. This can be read as a stand-alone, but I would highly recommend reading the first one as well which is also a 5 star read. I cannot wait for more in this series!

Thanks to NetGalley and Revell for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Title: Target Acquired

Author: Lynette Eason

Rating: ★★★★

This gripping thriller has everything you need for a page-turning experience: action, suspense, romance, and a strong female lead who takes no prisoners!

Kenzie King is a tough-as-nails tactical medic who has finally earned her spot on a SWAT team. But proving herself among an all-male team isn’t easy. Whispers suggest she got her position through connections, not skill, so Kenzie has to work twice as hard to show she deserves her place.

Enter Cole Garrison, a man with deep faith and a heart ready to settle down. Kenzie catches his eye, but her arrival on the team coincides with a series of deadly ambushes targeting her fellow SWAT members. As the team scrambles to find the culprit, the tension between Kenzie and Cole heats up.

The chemistry between Kenzie and Cole crackles as they navigate the treacherous waters of team dynamics, personal attraction, and a relentless sniper targeting their squad. Can they put aside their differences and work together to stop the killer, or will their budding romance be snuffed out by a bullet?

Lynette Eason delivers a tightly wound plot that unfurls at breakneck speed, leaving me breathless and eager for more. With twists, intense action scenes, and a romance that sizzles, "Target Acquired" is a must-read for fans of thrilling, romantic suspense.

Highly recommend this fast-paced, heart-pounding read! If you love strong heroines, nail-biting tension, and a dash of romance, "Target Acquired" will hit the bullseye.

This book grabbed my attention from the first page, and it never let me go! It was a fabulous sequel to Double Take, the first book in the Lake City Heroes series, and I love how Eason is developing the characters to allow each story to unfold. (I can't wait for Jesslyn and Nathan's story in the next book!)

When medical doctor Kenzie King joins the Lake City SWAT team as their medic, she kicks over the proverbial hornet's nest. Between dealing with skeptical teammates, a distant supervisor, an angry father, and other mysterious enemies that she can't identify, she has her hands full. When she starts being attacked by a man who successfully hides his face, and the SWAT team gets called to an ambush, she realizes that someone out there will stop at nothing to end her career...and her life.

High points of the book include:

**Strong/smart female lead
**Brother's best friend
**Edge of your seat action
**Flashbacks to family past
**Community of close friends

You won't get much work done while reading this book because you won't want to put it down, but you also won't have any regrets!!

Kenzie King has earned her position as a SWAT team medic, but not everyone agrees. And someone wants her not just off the team, but gone . . . permanently. Could that someone be a fellow SWAT team member?
As commander, Cole Garrison is tasked with keeping the team unified and alive! But could his growing interest in Kenzie be getting in the way of his professional judgment?
Together, Kenzie and Cole race to find out who is behind all the assassination attempts and how an abandoned psychiatric hospital is linked to it all.
Told in seamlessly woven together split-time, Kenzie and Cole’s story kept me up late and on the edge of my seat from page one to the end. I loved every nail-biting moment!

Lots of suspense and action, trying to stay away from whoever is after them (her)! Faith and romance too! Excellent book! Loved it!

Target Acquired by Lynette Eason is the second book in the series. This book can be read as a standalone book. Kenzie, the main character, always has to prove herself in the "good ole' boys club," but she can definitely hold her own.

The story had good suspense, but it was a little sappy in the romance and relationship parts and just too sweet for me.

I did like Kenzie and loved Otis the K-9. I would probably recommend this book for Christian romance/suspense readers. I may check out more books by this author, but maybe not in this series. I rate this a 3.5 out of 5 stars (rounded to 4).

"Target Acquired" is a Christian romantic suspense. While it's the second book in a series, it works as a standalone. Kenzie was the most qualified person to apply for the spot of tactical medic for the SWAT team, but many on the team wonder if she can really pull her own weight (or, more accurately, pull their weight if they're injured). While she slowly proves her worth during call-outs, one team member resents that she won the spot instead of his friend. When she's targeted during fake call-outs and warned to quit the team during an attack, she and Cole begin to wonder if this teammate or his friend are involved.

The main characters were likable, capable people who reacted realistically to events. Cole supported and protected Kenzie, though he had trouble figuring out how to handle his growing attraction to her since he's now her team leader. She's been attracted to him for a long time. They worked well together. The suspense remained high throughout due to the ongoing danger to Kenzie and the team. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting story.

Target Acquired has everything that thriller readers will enjoy. It has mystery, it has action, it has a hint of romance. This was a great read.

My high expectations for this second book in the Lake City Heroes series were met and exceeded. This book features two expertly plotted storylines—one set in 1947 and the other in present day. The historical storyline compliments and adds depth to the main present-day storyline. It was great to reconnect with the Lake City SWAT team and experience Kenzie and Cole’s story. The fast-paced, intensely suspenseful action kept me totally immersed and guessing! The characters are well-crafted and believable. I love Kenzie and Cole as individuals and as a couple. I enjoyed how their sweet romantic relationship develops as they face danger from a killer and deal with Kenzie’s struggle to fit in with the SWAT team. I love this book and highly recommend it and the series. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! Note: Although there are carryover characters from the previous book, this book can be read as a standalone.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Kenzie King is the only woman on her SWAT team. She is also the only team member that is a doctor so that makes her the perfect medic for the team. It seems that someone on the team is not happy that she is there and may be targeting her to quit. There have been several instances where Kenzie and her teams lives have been in danger. Cole Garrison is the team leader. He is determined to find who is threatening Kenzie, but will it require him to get too close to her?

I truly enjoyed this book and read it so quickly! I loved the characters, I loved the backstory set in the 40's, and I loved the suspense. I really liked how the backstory brought Kenzie and Cole's story full circle. The "who-done-it" remained a mystery to me until the end! I'm definitely a fan of the Lake City Heroes series and am excited for the next book.

Fans of Lynette Eason will love this new book in her Lake City Heroes series. Another fast paced thriller to excite the readers.

It was a pleasant read but I had some trouble connecting with the characters.

An action packed thriller full of suspense, drama, and unexpected twists for this second book in the Lake City Heroes series! It has similarities to a time-slip as you are given glimpses of life in the 1940’s for both Kenzie King and Cole Garrison’s grandparents whose stories are the main focus of this book. The flow is seamless and adds to the mystery of the story. The storyline grips you from the opening pages until the surprising end. It gave me all the feels with the nonstop action, suspense, great characters, and romance.

Book 2 brings us the stories of Kenzie King and Cole Garrison. While they have known each other since childhood, Kenzie finds herself as the only female member of the SWAT team in which Cole is her commander. This does not come without some growing pains and leads them to trying to protect Kenzie from an unknown enemy. This takes them on an adventure of both danger and discovery of the past and future.

This is book definitely lived up to my expectations after such a great first book in the series. With such a strong, interesting group of characters who happen to be friends, I believe this entire series will be exceptional! It is a must read!

I just finished Target Acquired by Lynette Eason and I truly have to say it's one of her best stories I've read! I loved the dual timeline, as it brought so much more to the main story. I stayed on the edge of my seat most of the story, trying to solve the mystery. I highly recommend this book! I can't wait for the rest of this series. It is book 2, but can be read as a stand alone story like I did.

This book was really fun and exciting to read and chock-full of attention grabbing fight scenes that can keep you on the edge of you seat and itching to turn to the next page.

Negative Content

The word dang is used twice, and the word heck is used three times.

A mention of a man who was guarding a woman sleeping on her couch and later offering to again, but this time she refused. (While his staying there was with good intentions and nothing bad happened, it still would have been better if he hadn't slept there or if he had requested a female cop stay with her).

Sentences with the phrase "I swear" are used three times.

It mentions a woman tossing her clothes on a bed and pulling on her swimsuit, and thinks to herself that "she had nice features and great legs, thanks to all of her running and biking. Not that she showed them off— it was also genetic. Her mom had had great legs too."

Another woman walks into the room and tells her "You have really great legs, you know that?" The first woman snorted, then laughed saying, "Yeah, I do".
Then another woman later walks in and the first woman thinks that she looked beautiful, as usual. She carried her five-foot-eight-inch height well, and the bathing suit and wrap she wore complemented her in every way possible. (From the sound of the descriptions and the talk about legs, it didn't sound like they decently covered.)

A mention of a woman wearing faded jeans with "fashionable holes in the knees."

Someone says they worked their tail off.

-Trigger warnings-

It mentions someone hearing a sharp crack echo, and then a bad guy jerks, and it mentions blood flows from the wound in his forehead.

A mention of a young woman being accused of having tried to kill herself (she did not, but someone attempts to gaslight her into believing she did.)

-Typos-

It mentions a man saying that he saw a vehicle, and then later it mentions the man who was looking into it seeing what caught a different man's eye.

In conclusion, this book was exciting and highly enjoyable and a pleasure to read.
If I had to say what things lowered the rating the most, they would be (1) the use of the words heck ×3 and dang ×2, the mention of the man guarding the woman sleeping on her couch, and the mentions of the women in bathing suits.

From the opening lines, this book is one twist and chase after another. I enjoyed the past/present chapters. It added layers to the story that made it even more interesting. The romance is very light in this one. I look forward to the next in the series!

I liked this story of a swat team and how they worked. One member, a female doctor and medic for the team had some issues with resentment because she was chosen over some men for the position on the team. She also ended up being stalked. Read the book and find out what happened! I was given this book for the purpose of reviewing.

Target Acquired is the second book in the Lake City Heroes series and the momentum was top notch. Target Acquired is Kenzie and Cole’s phenomenal story. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. Action and story were a great balance. Pick it up for your summer reads. Lynette never disappoints.

I received an advanced readers copy from the author and Netgalley. Opinions are my own.

Action will keep you turning the pages.
I did make some connections to who the bad guys were before the end but it will keep you guessing.
