The Lake City heroes are back in this second book in the series and this one explodes on the scene with non-stop action and a pace that is like a race car that is holding on to first place. Kenzie King is the newest member of the SWAT team and she is feisty and courageous, holding her own against the members of the team who seem to not want her there. Unfortunately, there is another threat, an unknown attacker who would just as soon kill her to get her off the team. Cole Garrison, her team leader, wants Kenzie safe but he is stymied about how to do that and keep the rest of the team safe too. The danger and suspense continue to ratchet up all the way until the surprising revelation of the perpetrator. I followed the clues and did my best to guess who was making the attempts on Kenzie’s life, but I didn’t guess right until the very end with a great clue that those paying attention will definitely catch. Filled with the author’s signature twists and intense suspense, this book is one not to miss that kept me turning pages and totally engaged in the story. With a brilliant twist at the time of revelation, this well-crafted book is intriguing as well as balancing faith with heroism. The characters all have complicated personalities that mesh well with the plot and they are realistically flawed. This is a satisfying and captivating romantic suspense that I recommend you plan to enjoy in one sitting because it will be impossible to put down.

Target Acquired was another can’t-put-down story by Lynette Eason.

“True, but sometimes the present and the past wind up colliding, and when that happens, you have to figure out why.”

I enjoyed the glimpses of the past, which were connected to the present. It was something different to the author’s prior novels and added another mystery element.

The story is mainly focused on the threat against Kenzie and the various swat calls – there was limited focus on romance, only the last portion of the book. This is something I always love about this author’s books but if you prefer more romance, you might find it lacking.

The plot was riveting and kept me up past my bedtime. There were quite a few possible suspects, but I did guess the actual one correct once introduced.

Can’t wait to continue the series with book three releasing January 2025.

This one is even better than the first. Kenzie is an amazing character and I was completely invested in her. I also really liked Cole. The story is fast paced and I was hooked from the beginning. Just when I thought I had it figured out the author threw a surprise I didn't see coming.

Lynette Eason is a great mystery/suspense with a little bit of romance writer. I loved book 2 in this series as much as book 1. Cannot wait for more in this series. I was drawn into the action and characters from the first page and loved reading through to the final one. Definitely a book i will be recommending to my mystery/suspense/romance reader friends.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and did not have to write a review. All opinions are solely mine.

This is a fast paced, riveting & exciting action mystery, with plenty of intrigue, danger, suspense & deception. Strong interesting characters with some romantic undertones, & caring/sharing moments. There’s a split time narrative; most of the action is current day, but there’s a story from 1947, relating to Cole’s & Kenzie’s grandmothers. Thoroughly enjoyed my first read of this author. Highly recommend this book

Target Acquired is a gritty, gripping and fast paced story from the beginning to the end. Lynette Eason ‘s second book in the Lake City Heroes Series has it all the well-written plot, the intriguing characters, the snappy dialogue, the action, the romance, the emotions and best of all the protection and grace of God. While action packed it is also a character driven book that ratcheted up the tension and suspense with each event.

Cole Garrison and Kenzie King were part of the great SWAT Team, knowing each other since their youth. Their romance relationship never takes over their work focus. Nor does the team lack in compassion and desire to help. I like the small town feel of the story that still did not have the gossipy fell to it. The past comes into play showing how trauma affect the individual member of a family differently. The guilty party was clearly in the picture but not the one I would have ever considered until it all fell together near the end. One thrilling must read.

**Thank you so much to NetGalley and Revell Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! These thoughts are my own.**

I got this book and the first in the series as ARCs, and I loved them both! This book is action-packed and full of tension. I loved Kenzie's spunk and Cole's respect for her. I thought the storyline was an awesome choice, and the writing style was really good! I did, however, find the plot to be a little underwhelming. The reveal wasn't super surprising, and the suspenseful things started to feel really repetitive. There was also a kind of important plotline that did not get resolved.

I still enjoyed this book though, and I would recommend reading it!

Kenzie King is the newest member of the SWAT team as a medic. She is the only female member, and some of the team members are not happy with her presence. Someone wants Kenzie off of the team permanently, and it seems they will stop at nothing to not only remove her from the team but take her life as well. Now the team must pull together and work as a team to stop a killer.

Cole Garrison is the SWAT team leader, and in the beginning he is Kenzie's only cheerleader. He does have feelings for Kenzie, but he also believes in her abilities and believes she has earned her spot on the team just like everyone else.

There is plenty of action and intrigue as is fully expected in the Lake City Heroes series. The characters are strong-willed and heroic. I fell into this book head first and didn't come up for air until I read the final page. This is Christian romantic suspense at its finest.

Thank you to Revell, the author and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a terrific romantic suspense tale featuring two SWAT officers. The mystery of who is targeting Kenzie will keep you guessing. The relationship between Kenzie and Cole is lovely and ties well with the characters from book one without making the reader feel like they must read the first book.

This is Christian fiction so expect prayer and discussions of church and faith.

I really enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to readers of clean romance and suspense/mystery.

Family friendly.

Wow, Target Acquired easily makes it onto my top five romantic suspense reads of 2024. I started reading on (thankfully) a quiet day. There was no real choice – I had to finish this book. Annoyingly, sleep won out so I waited until the second day but this was a two day read for me. So so good.

The story is a bout a SWAT team leader (Cole) and medic (Kenzie). There have been feelings for both for a while, but given Kenzie’s place on the team, Cole has kept her at arms length until someone starts trying to get rid of her all together.

I loved that this story completely kept me guessing until the very end. The unpredictable plot that did allow me to catch my breath before the next shoe dropped was also great. Most of all, I enjoyed the charter development. Obviously Cole and Kenzie had a lot to go through, but Kenzie and her family needed some healing and Cole had growing as a leader to work on. Additionally, the wider SWAT team developed and I thought this was a compelling read.

Finally – a confession – I actually teared up quite near the end. Won’t say why – you’ll have to read the book, and I do highly recommend that course of action. Hope you have as great a two days as I did.

I received a copy of Target Acquired from the publisher via NetGalley. The fangirling is all my own.

I love all of Lynette Eason's books. So, it's no surprise that when I got my hands on a copy of Target Acquired, I rushed to read it. This book did not disappoint. Kenzie King has the hard work of becoming a female member on the SWAT team. Even though she earned this spot by her own merit, she continually attempts to prove that she deserves to be here. Add to this stress some family history that can taint the way people see her and you're in the perfect position to be carried into the story. Of course there is the handsome Detective Cole Garrison, a man full of deep faith and strength. Yet he too faces doubts and moments of confusion.
The story is full of lots of twists and turns. You'll understand King's doubts in people's character and in herself. Yet, you'll see a cast of characters that help us see that friends and teammates are more like family, As usual Lynnette Eason gives us a deep and compelling story of redemption, faith, and change. The only way through the challenges of this story are with God's help and people to lead us to His strength. This story will remind us of the beauty of doing difficult things, relying on those we love and giving freely to those in need.

I was a little taken aback that the story starts in the past. I wondered how it played in to the story in the present. Kenzie is the first female member of the SWAT team in Lake City. The other members of the team have mixed reactions to Kenzie, and she been on the team six months.
Cole is SWAT team leader and a detective in the police department. There is attraction there and one of the battles in the book is whether attraction leads to love.
The way the story progresses is masterful. I haven’t finished a book in less than 24 hours in a while.
I wanted to know who was after Kenzie. I wanted to know how the past was influencing the present.
Lynette Eason is masterful in combining suspense with multiple unanswered questions to an explosive race to answers. The romance part of romantic suspense was done well.
I definitely recommend Target Acquired and I’m loving the whole Lake City Heroes series.
Thanks to Netgalley and Revell for the chance to read this book.

Lynette Eason can be depended on for a fast paced read with action, danger, suspense, great characters, and a mystery to solve. This second trip to Lake City, North Carolina is no exception. We see characters from the first book and meet new ones. Kenzie King is the lone woman on the SWAT team, as a team medic but someone wants her off. She was the best choice with her training and an MD behind her name. Cole, the team leader is a family friend and her brother's best friend. He is torn between being a boss and friend when her life is threatened. This story has flashbacks to the 1940's, present day and in between history with lots of tie-ins and connections, including bad history, between local families. This is a hard to put down book with edge of the seat action and lots of clues thrown in to weed through to find the culprit. And of course, some romance, all with a faith thread.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts.

I loved all the twists and turns in this book. Kenzie and Cole have a shared history, but they don't know just how shared it is until they find Cole's grandmother's journal. I loved Kenzie's no quit attitude. I loved how Cole softened her edges a bit. I also loved trying to figure out who the 'bad guy' was in the book. This is a fantastic book. I would definitely recommend.

I love Lynette Eason’s strong heroine’s and Kenzie has a lot to prove. A member of a SWAT team, some don’t think she belongs. Then things start happening when the team is called out and the question is whether the whole team is targeted or it’s just her. Cole leads the team, and he’s determined to keep the right distance but he also needs to keep her safe. When her father throws a cold case involving her mother’s death at her, Kenzie doesn’t know which way is up. This book is full of intrigue, twists, and hints of romance. I enjoyed every page.

The camaraderie in this series is special because the group is tight as a family. A friendly group of inspiring women in male dominated careers will each have their story told in a gripping suspenseful way. This time it seemed like there were multiple mysteries and crimes to solve. It’s a carefully woven tale with bullets flying, chauvinistic attitudes, and murder plots. Kenzie holds her own as a SWAT team member with a medical degree while someone wants her off the job. Cole is her boss and self appointed bodyguard when needed. The two have been entwined for years since their families are connected by their grandparents friendship. The story is intriguing, quick, inspiring and puzzling. Enjoy this book in order or not, it does not matter. I read an early copy and wrote this review voluntarily.

This is the second book in the Lake City Heroes series. I loved the suspense, as it was definitely a page turner for me. The added story line from what happened in the past, added to the present day story. It made it even more intriguing as the present day characters had to also figure out what happened in the past and how it relates to the present. I enjoyed the characters and how it includes great friendships and real life dilemmas that the characters have to work through. I am excited for book 3 to come and out and can't wait for what suspense comes next.

I was given a complimentary ARC and was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinion are my own.

Kenzie has accomplished her goal, she is the tactical medic on the SWAT team. But that has left her in a situation with the rest of the guys, it seems her family and some of the others she beat out for the position. They just won’t accept her because she is a girl even though she had to pass all the same tests the guys did plus she is a trained ER doctor. But when it seems she has a target on her back that is also affecting the rest of the team when they go on calls and get ambushed.
Cole is the team leader and has just been dumped by his fiancé, so he is not actively looking for another girl, but he would like to settle down sometime soon. But will he see what is right before him?

Phenomenal read! Absolutely phenomenal. I LOVED this read, the story hit all the buttons for me, an exciting current day case, a cold case and a historical timeline thread which I was surprised and thrilled to see. The way it was all woven together made for an amazing story which is going straight to me favorites shelf. This is now officially my favorite series from Lynette Eason and she has writen some spectacular reads for me over the last decade plus, but I absolutely adore this series!
