This book is absolutely EXPLOSIVE. Eason does a phenomenal job of winding numerous plot threads together, each with purpose and intentionality. This is a book you won't be able to put down until it's done, and then you're probably waiting for the next one in the series. Both main characters (Cole and Kenzie) are relatable and easy to empathize with, and I loved the difficult background presented with Kenzie's family members and how she interacts with them. It just made them feel REAL. The sniper scenario in the story is terrifying and keeps you guessing clear to the end, which is something I really appreciated. I woke up thinking about this book and went to bed wishing I could read more...so if you need a gripping storyline, relatable characters, a romance you can root for--definitely pick up a copy of Target Acquired, ASAP!

Kenzie King has a rare position for a woman. She is a medic for an all-male SWAT team. It's a job that requires stamina and staying alert, ready to have your teammates' backs along with medical knowledge and expertise. Wondering if your teammates will have your back shouldn't be a concern but Kenzie knows some of the men aren't happy having a female on board. Maybe at least one is angry enough to endanger her. Something isn't right.
Cole Garrison is a SWAT leader and a detective with the Lake City Police. A man of faith, he walks the walk and is respected by his team. He has a special bond with his young niece and is starting to want love and a family of his own. His grandmother and Kenzie's have ties to one another from back in the 1940's. He has to watch himself. He absolutely cannot have feelings for the special woman on his team.
I received the advanced reader's copy of this book, and this is my own unsolicited opinion about it. I really liked this suspenseful story. The subtle weaving in of the two young women's stories from the 1940's certainly drew a parallel to Kenzie's position in modern day. The treatment and expectations from the past and one woman's punishment, thrown into a mental asylum because she won't obey her father's will is sad. The advances and strength Kenzie is able to display first as a medic and secondly as a member of a powerful and professional team is a great example for young adult readers today. It certainly shows a true example of history and battles women faced just because they had intelligence and strong wills.
There are twists and turns to the suspense of the story along with a realistic attraction between Kenzie and Cole. Add in the twist of Kenzie's father's off-putting attitude toward her and his request that she look into the cold case of her mother's death is a whole other challenge.
I give this story a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Thanks to Revell and NetGalley.

3.5 stars
In book two of Lynette Eason’s Lake City Heroes, readers catch up with Kenzie King and Cole Garrison.
Kenzie is ecstatic to join the SWAT team as the medical officer, but the team hasn’t accepted her as one of their own. Cole is caught between leading his team and the crush he’s always had on Kenzie. Someone is targeting Kenzie, though no one really knows why.
The story bounces between the past and present, which is the first time I’ve seen this done in a romantic suspense. The two stories are related, though the connection isn’t made until about mid-way through. It’s an interesting side story that doesn’t make sense until the very end. However, I think the contemporary story would have done well without the historical backstory.
This story moves slowly until a third of the way through.
The circle of friends from the first novel reappears, giving more context to Cole and Kenzie’s relationship which grows from friends to something more. These characters are easy to connect with, but the secondary characters aren’t quite what I expect in a Lynette Eason story.
The villain was a surprise.
If you like slower paced romantic suspense stories with more of a mystery slant to them, you’ll probably like Target Acquired.

Someone wants to kill Kenzie King. A trained SWAT medic, Kenzie knows she must prove herself and work harder as she serves on an all-male team.

As Kenzie and her team, specifically her supervisor Cole Garrison, work to uncover who is trying to take her down, the duo AND the team hopes the culprit is caught before he actually kills one of them.

This Lake City Heroes #2 book was a thriller that I could not put down! I had to make myself stop reading this one to actually be productive in other tasks. Eason's books keep the reader on his/her toes with just the right amount of twists, terms, and drama. And who can say no to a little romance dropped in?! There was a main plot and a subplot, and sometimes, as well as storytelling in two timelines. Sometimes it can get a little hard to keep track of all the details, but Eason does this well.

I love that the gospel is communicated in the book but not in a cheesy way. I'd actually like to see more of this built in.

The ending felt a bit rushed when it comes to Kenzie and Cole's story, and that's really the only thing I didn't love about the book.

Highly recommend this Christian thriller!

Another fantastic romantic suspense book by Lynette Eason! ‘Target Acquired’ is book 2 in the Lake City Heroes series. It’s fast paced and full of action! You do not need to read the first book to understand what is happening with this one, but I recommend starting with it. It’ll give you background on other characters that are in this book.
Like Eason’s other books, I finished this in one evening. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down.
I really enjoyed Kenzi and Cole’s story. Their relationship seemed to develop rather quickly, but they have known each other for years. Also, being in dangerous situations together can lead to real feelings faster than usual. There were plenty of dangerous situations for them in this book. In addition to the romance there was plenty of family drama, faith, found family, and suspense/romance.

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for ‘Serial Burn’.

**I was sent a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations of a favorable review.

Target Acquired by Lynette Eason is another winner! Most of you know that I am a huge fan of Lynette and she keeps delivering great stories even with my high expectations after reading so many of her books.

Target Acquired had everything I am looking for in a great story. . Kenzie was a character that I could totally relate to trying to prove herself in a male dominate environment. Cole was what just what I look for in a male lead.

There was a ton of action in the book and several scenes where you could feel the tension wondering where the next bullet was coming from! Once again I highly recommend this book by Lynette.

On a side note this book came just at the right time for me. I was in a reading slump and all the stories were just running together. Lynette’s book was the perfect read with a fresh and totally engaging storyline with characters that I fell in love with. and maybe one that I wanted to punch :)

I enjoyed Lynette Eason’s main characters in her newest release, Target Acquired. The combination of spunky Kenzie and faith-driven Cole in the face of danger made the plot twists even more intriguing. I usually predict the antagonist’s identity but this book kept me guessing. Another great read by one of my favorite authors!

In the book Target Acquired, author Lynette Eason writes about tactical medic SWAT member Kenzie King and her struggles to fit in with the all male SWAT team. Cole Garrison is interested in Kenzie, But even though he’s known her since she was young, he’s her boss on SWAT. And someone is trying to pick off the SWAT members by ambushing them at calls. But who are they really after? This was a good mystery. Had some romance and relationship struggles included. But Eason’s books are becoming like Hallmark movies – predictable. I would recommend this book. I received a copy of this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Another exciting, fast paced romantic suspense in the Lake City Heroes series! Lynette Eason brings all the intensity in this dual time period story. This is the first book I’ve read of hers where she has a dual time line & I loved it!

In the present day, Kenzie King’s trying to prove her worth to her team after earning a place as a tactical medic on the SWAT team. Someone though doesn’t want her to succeed & begins taking shots at her, literally. Her team leader Cole Garrison is a childhood friend and begins to take a romantic interest in Kenzie. But, her troubled past & the threats to her life make a romantic relationship more complicated. In 1947, a young woman wakes up in a mental institution and doesn’t remember how she got there. Did she really try to hurt herself or is there something more nefarious going on?

I thoroughly enjoyed this childhood friends to more romance! There’s a sizzling undercurrent of attraction between Kenzie & Cole made all the more enjoyable because of their shared history. Kenzie’s wary of a relationship & Cole’s ready to settle down. It was fun seeing Kenzie finally give into those feelings she’s been suppressing. I also liked their shared faith and how it was subtly woven throughout the story.

The suspense was off the charts! A few of Kenzie’s teammates have some resentment which makes them prime suspects. There’s also unresolved questions surrounding her father’s accident. I was on the edge of my seat with every attempt on Kenzie’s life. The story in the past also plays a role in the story & I enjoyed seeing how it connected to the present.

Highly recommend this thrilling, nail-biting, romantic suspense! Though part of a series, it can be read as a standalone, but it’s more enjoyable if you’re familiar with characters from the previous book. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.

Target Acquired by Lynette Eason is my favorite read of the summer! This thrilling, non-stop run-for-your-life story centers on Kenzie King. She's the only female on the SWAT team and someone isn't happy she's on the team. Cole Garrison tries to figure out the mystery behind a series of attacks against Kenzie, while he fights his feelings for her.

This is the first Eason novel where she writes in dual timelines. I loved how the mystery from the past connected to the current story. It made the whole story so much deeper. And I loved Kenzie and Cole's relationship, as well as how Kenzie has to unravel her own family drama. This is a fantastic series and I can't wait for book three!

I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I really enjoyed Target Acquired from the first page to the last. I was rooting for Kenzie and Cole from the beginning. Both were very likeable characters who struggled with how much of themselves they were willing to risk. I liked the fact that Kenzie never backed away from a challenge and being the only woman on a SWAT team was not easy. It never ceases to amaze me that Lynette Eason can continually get better with each tale she tells!

So grab a large sweet tea and curl up under a tree for a fabulous book!

I was given a copy of Target Acquired for review purposes. All thoughts are my own.

Another great novel by Eason full of suspense with lots of action. A book that will have you reading on and on to see what’s going to take place next. Kenzie King is the newest member of the SWAT team and she is as tough as any man and can hold her own against any of them……. and she wants no favors because she is female. Alas, there seems to be some members of the team who seem to not want her there but she’s not quitting. She’s here and she will pull her share of the load. Unfortunately, it seems there is an unknown attacker who would just as soon kill her to get her off the team. Cole Garrison, her team leader, is determine to keep Kenzie safe, but how to do that and keep the rest of the team safe and find out who wants Kenzie dead. Could it be someone on their own team who is unhappy because a female is there? There are so many twists and turns an unexpected happenings in this novel that was surely keep you busy reading. Also a renewed romance between Cole and Kenzie. Thanks to Eason and her publishing company for another great read.

This book was so good! I enjoyed every minute of this read. It had so much action and suspense. From the very first page, the story pulled me in.

Kenzie King has been a SWAT medic for about 6 months and yet her team still doesn't seem to fully trust her. Cole Garrison, the SWAT team leader, wants his team to just get along. When multiple incidents happen, Kenzie and Cole believe that she is in true danger. When the past meets the present, will they be able to find the right answers in time to save Kenzie's life?

I highly recommend this romantic suspense! It was seriously such a great read!

This author never let's you down. The 2nd in this series focuses on Cole and Kenzie. Kenzie is the newer member on the SWAT team and the only female. She's been trying hard to be accepted by the crew. Cole is her supervisor, but also someone she's known for years, as he is friends with one of her brothers. The story starts of quick, with a call for the team and an injury that has them at the hospital where the first attempt at harm comes into play. The question, to start, is who wants to harm the team, or is it just Kenzie. Cole and Kenzie are both fighting their attraction, he's her supervisor after all. Cole has decided he needs to spent more time with Kenzie, both for the team and her protection. We also have a look at the past, with the grandparents of Kenzie, and Cole, as well as something her father wants her to look into. Her family is extremely competitive which was part of her upbringing, but leaves her at odds, or so she thinks, with her brothers and father. Great, page turning story! I look forward to the next in this series.

Well written book, that seamless weave small bits of the past with the present story line. You will not know until end the how everything weaves together. Kenzie is dealing with being part of SWAT and a doctor. There seems to be someone targeting her to get her off of SWAT and no one can figure out why.

Wow is one of the words I would use to describe this book. I loved how there was multiple layers in the book and how they intertwined into each other to make a more intense nail-biting story, that will make you want to read the entire book in one setting. The main story is about Kenzie King who has just joined the SWAT team. After an incident with a team member getting hurt, there are attempts on Kenzie's life. Their leader, Cole Garrison decides if he is going to keep the morale of the team going then he needs to show the other members that he accepts Kenzie being on the team. What will it take for the others to accept her, and will she live long enough to be accepted? Who is behind the attempts on her life and the others on the team? Get your book now to find out how this story ends. I am grateful that the publisher and Netgalley allowed me to read an early copy of this book. I was not required to leave a positive review.

The Lake City heroes are back in this second book in the series and this one explodes on the scene with non-stop action and a pace that is like a race car that is holding on to first place. Kenzie King is the newest member of the SWAT team and she is feisty and courageous, holding her own against the members of the team who seem to not want her there. Unfortunately, there is another threat, an unknown attacker who would just as soon kill her to get her off the team. Cole Garrison, her team leader, wants Kenzie safe but he is stymied about how to do that and keep the rest of the team safe too. The danger and suspense continue to ratchet up all the way until the surprising revelation of the perpetrator. I followed the clues and did my best to guess who was making the attempts on Kenzie’s life, but I didn’t guess right until the very end with a great clue that those paying attention will definitely catch. Filled with the author’s signature twists and intense suspense, this book is one not to miss that kept me turning pages and totally engaged in the story. With a brilliant twist at the time of revelation, this well-crafted book is intriguing as well as balancing faith with heroism. The characters all have complicated personalities that mesh well with the plot and they are realistically flawed. This is a satisfying and captivating romantic suspense that I recommend you plan to enjoy in one sitting because it will be impossible to put down.

Target Acquired was another can’t-put-down story by Lynette Eason.

“True, but sometimes the present and the past wind up colliding, and when that happens, you have to figure out why.”

I enjoyed the glimpses of the past, which were connected to the present. It was something different to the author’s prior novels and added another mystery element.

The story is mainly focused on the threat against Kenzie and the various swat calls – there was limited focus on romance, only the last portion of the book. This is something I always love about this author’s books but if you prefer more romance, you might find it lacking.

The plot was riveting and kept me up past my bedtime. There were quite a few possible suspects, but I did guess the actual one correct once introduced.

Can’t wait to continue the series with book three releasing January 2025.

This one is even better than the first. Kenzie is an amazing character and I was completely invested in her. I also really liked Cole. The story is fast paced and I was hooked from the beginning. Just when I thought I had it figured out the author threw a surprise I didn't see coming.
