I really enjoyed this book and we loved looking for the different bird and animal species.
The book tells the story of the Barn Swallow, it follows them along their migration route.
They leave the UK after breeding and start the 9,500 km journey to Southern Africa where they spend the winter. They then make the reverse journey in breaks from the end of January with them arriving at their (quite often the same) breeding grounds in March/April.
There is a good map in the map that shows the route and the book has some additional keys facts and detail added as the book progresses. It is a bit like a Where's Wally book for Swallows but this one is educational as well as fun! It would be a great book for schools to have in their libraries to teach the children about migration.
It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!
This book is really lovely. An eye spy book with beautiful pages of places like the farm, seaside or the city, for you to search for the different number of things hidden in the pages. I love the bright pages and easy to read text and think it's a fun activity book for all the family. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I used to love these kinds of books when I was younger and I enjoyed this one just as much! It’s the kind of book where you can reread it multiple times and spot something new each time. The illustration style is gorgeous and works so well with the nature theme. Following the flock of birds through the world and seeing so many different landscapes was fascinating. I will definitely recommend this book to those with children!
Top quality book in all aspects; educational, fun, has amazing and uniquely designed pages.
Offers a great time for the adults and children since this book functions like a game and thanks to its details, one can have a great time looking at the drawings and reading the information.
Each page has a different concept in a new setting, and the children can learn plenty about the environments of different animals by the spying and spotting them,
Cool!
This is a lovely book for the young natural history enthusiast.
Reminiscent of the old i-spy books but more like a quiz /search challenge - different creatures found in different environments are to be discovered in different location...all hidden within Xuan Lee's delightful imagery.
Catherine Brereton's text encourages the eagle- eyed to find different land /air and marine life- giving a start to being more observant in their own world.
There is a good range of creatures to identify - not all found in the local environment but will broaden knowledge
An ideal activity book for the summer holidays- the only addition that would have been useful is a section where young 'eye-spyers' could jot down the things they spot in their own home area or if out and about or on holiday..
