After reading this darling novel I now need to book a trip to Paris {I would if I could!} The descriptions of the city are perfect and I love the premise of getting a love letter - what a lost art in this digital age! Very cute story that will give you a little vacation through a love story :)
This book captures romance in Paris's picturesque Montmartre. The story follows Lilou, a hopeless romantic who becomes an anonymous matchmaker known as 'Paris Cupid.' Despite her own imperfect love life, Lilou helps others believe in love through handwritten letters. The novel weaves themes of friendship, love, and self-discovery, with Paris as a charming backdrop. Readers will relate to Lilou and her friend Emilenne, and root for Lilou's happiness amidst Parisian charm. It's a captivating read about connection and romance.
Absolutely loved this book by Rebecca Raisin , this is the second one of hers I’ve read but it won’t be the last. Perfect for Francophiles set as it is in Paris, the descriptions of the quaint market with its quirky shops easily bring to mind many of the markets I’ve visited in France. Beautifully descriptive writing, great cast of characters, perfect summer read. Highly recommended.
What if dating sites were more than surface deep? What if they allowed users to write and send actual correspondence once matched through the site, as an opportunity to possibly fall for someone’s thoughts, words, and feelings before their outward appearance?
This is exactly what Lilou wanted to know when thinking about her best friend’s remarkable qualities and unremarkable luck with love.
Lilou owns a boutique at the St. Ouen market that carries antique love letters which is how the idea first came to her. From there she secretly sets up Paris Cupid online. With hopes of finding love for her best friend, as well as her fellow market owners, her site unexpectedly explodes when a famously French bachelor and actor publicly announces he’s found the love of his life … through Paris Cupid! Hundreds of new profile requests come flooding into Lilou’s site and rumors begin to swirl over the identify of who is behind Paris Cupid.
Will Lilou be able to keep her identity hidden while finding love for her friends? And will Lilou be able to find love for herself along the way?
A Love Letter to Paris is a sweet, charming, adorable, and heartwarming read, containing a delectable host of characters to spend the day with! This is set to publish in the US on July 8th. Pre-order this book then check out her other novels while you wait. I know that’s what I’ll be doing!
MY THOUGHTS AND BOOK REVIEW
"A Love Letter to Paris" is a delightful and heartwarming novel due to be released on July 8th, 2024 that captures the essence of romance against the backdrop of Paris's enchanting streets, particularly in the picturesque Montmartre neighborhood. Written with a charming narrative style, the story revolves around Lilou, a hopeless romantic who finds herself inadvertently becoming a matchmaker under the anonymous name 'Paris Cupid'.
I thought this novel is cute as Lilou focused on giving services of matchmaking keeping herself anonymous to those who have given up on love or felt that love has given up on them. The readers can easily relate to her friend Emilenne who had a messy ending trying to find love in the tricky modern day dating world where mostly relationships are not committed and want only a casual relationship. Her Heart on sleeve romantic character as Paris Cupid she thought will remedy injustice by bringing back the lost art of handwritten love letters to help others believe in love again.
The novel opens with Montmartre buzzing about 'Paris Cupid', a mysterious figure credited with orchestrating love stories, including that of the city's most notorious bachelor. Despite her role in setting up others, Lilou remains quietly focused on her love for old-fashioned romance and her passion for selling vintage love letters, diaries, ephemera at St. Ouen market. She was a merchant at a flea market.
What unfolds is a journey of self-discovery and unexpected romance for Lilou, whose own love life is far from perfect. When she receives a secret admirer's message, the plot thickens as she speculates on the identity of her suitor among potential candidates like Felix, the cheerful redhead, Benoit, the quietly handsome gentleman, or even Pascale, who challenges her patience daily.
The novel beautifully intertwines Lilou's personal quest for love with her knack for bringing others together, showcasing Paris as not just a setting but almost a character in itself—a city full of charm, secrets, and possibilities. The author skillfully weaves together themes of friendship, love, and self-discovery, creating a narrative that is both uplifting and engaging.
Overall, "A Love Letter to Paris" is a captivating read that will appeal to anyone who enjoys stories about love, friendship, and the allure of Paris. It's a testament to the enduring magic of the city and the universal desire for connection and romance. Readers will find themselves immersed in Lilou's world, rooting for her to find happiness amidst the romantic ambiance of Parisian nights.
Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books Publishers for an advance copy for my review.

From the premise, I really expected to love this. I have enjoyed this author before as well. But I jut wasn't feeling this. The style of breaking into sections when we flip times just felt disjointed and I wasn't feeling the main character at all. Just meh for me..
Enjoyed it. The whole premise is pretty much unrealistic. So you need to suspend belief that a letter writing dating site would actually work out. To make it work , everyone who joins needs to go out and get PO Boxes because the letters can't arrive at their home address. Then they need to wait for letters to actually show up. Why not just talk on the phone or email. You could email each other long letters. How did Lilou have enough people to match? She would need a bunch of people to join right away. Miraculously, she was able to match her friend right away. I'm not sure many people would be running to sign up for this dating site. It wasn't hard to guess what was going to happen or who would be Lilou's mystery man. My favorite part o the book were the kitties. Loved Minou and Marmalade. Minou was just being a cat with all his antics and zoomies around Lilou's apartment. Lilou should know not to leave anything out on the counter to get knocked off. That cat pack back was a little much. How is cat co-parenting going to work? How many old typewriters is Pascale selling? Do people really collect other people's diaries and love letters? I'm not sure how these people are actually making money. Lilou had wonderful people in her life. What would she do without Genevieve?
Definitely recommend the book. It's a cute story and the perfect beach read. Yes, letter writing seems to be a unconventional for a dating website. The people of Paris seem to enjoy romantic letter writing, so Paris Cupid was a hit there. I enjoyed the story, characters and writing style. Loved the cats!!! I would love to walk around the flea market. Look forward to reading more books by the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Boldwood Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
From the highly popular author Rebecca Raisin comes this, her new summertime read.
Emilienne texts her friend Lilou to say "she's so happily in love, thanks to a matchmaking website called Paris cupid". What Emilienne doesn't know is that her friend is "Paris Cupid"!
Just six months earlier Emilienne is really upset as her boyfriend has just broken up with her. Will she now find the love of her life? Lilou secretly runs Paris Cupid, but she also spends her days running a market stall selling old diaries, amongs other things, she just loves reading about other people's private lives and wholeheartedly recommends them to her customers. One day, on reading a very old love letter that she found inside an old book she realises that what she really wants is a love story just like the one she's reading. But who is her Mr Right? She spends all her waking hours either at work, visiting the stray cats at the old cemetery or working for her clients on Paris Cupid, but what about her own love life, surely she deserves more than reading other people's love letters! A lovely romantic story about people finding new relationships, all set in a romantic location and complete with mischievous cats what's not too like. A well deserved four star read from me.
This is such a lovely read set in the romantic city of Paris. At an antiques market Lilou sells love letters and diaries that tell wonderful real life stories. Although her own love life has not been successful she still believes in love and romance. She starts a match making business called Paris Cupid where people write letters to each other before meeting up, it proves to be very successful but then Lilou starts receiving messages herself. The thing is she isn’t sure who they’re from. I loved all the characters and felt that they were all very much individuals who had their own stories and reasons for wanting to find love. This is an easy to read romance that has friendship, humour and of course romance. You can’t go wrong with a book by Rebecca Raisin! Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC
Another great read from this author. Quirky, fun, like a big warm hug. I loved the Paris setting and how she made you feel as if you were part of the community.
Big recommendation from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advanced e-copy of A Love Letter to Paris, in exchange for an honest review.
Rebecca Raisin's 'A Love Letter to Paris' is an charming story that will transport you to the heart of the City of Lights. With its vivid descriptions of Parisian landmarks, delectable culinary delights, and a cast of charming characters, this novel is a true love letter to the most romantic city in the world.
Lilou, the protagonist, is a woman with a passion for love and a knack for finding the perfect match. When she decides to start an online dating site called Paris Cupid, she has no idea that she will soon be swept up in a whirlwind of romance herself. Through the letters exchanged by Paris Cupid members, Lilou witnesses the power of love to connect people across all barriers.
As the site gains popularity, Lilou finds herself trying to juggle her secret identity with her growing list of admirers. Throw in a few stray cats and a touch of mystery, and you have a delightful recipe for a heartwarming story that will leave you grinning from ear to ear.
While the plot may be fairly predictable, it is the characters and the charming Parisian setting that make this novel truly special. Raisin's writing is filled with wit, warmth, and a deep love for the city of Paris. She effortlessly captures the essence of Parisian culture, from the bustling markets of Montmartre to the elegant cafes on the Left Bank.
Whether you're a lover of Paris, a fan of romantic comedies, or simply looking for a feel-good read, 'A Love Letter to Paris' is the perfect book for you. Its charming characters, delightful plot, and vivid setting will make you fall in love with the City of Lights all over again.
This was a 4.4 star read for me!
Lilou has made a career out of selling old diaries and love letters--and on the side, she runs Paris Cupid, a matchmaking service based on writing letters to your match. But her personal life is missing the romance that lies at the heart of her businesses. Until letters and diaries start showing up that seem like maybe they're a sign for her--or maybe written specifically FOR her. She doesn't know who's writing them, but she has three main guesses: the three men who recently moved into the stalls nearby her at work.
A Love Letter to Paris is very sweet and perfectly straddles the line between literary and more genre. I absolutely loved this book, and quite enjoyed Lilou's little adventure of figuring out who her secret admirer was. I also really loved her friendships with Genevieve and Guillame, and the cats were delightful. This book felt like a warm spring day, and I can't wait to read more from the author.
This was soooo cute and fun. This was my first by the author but I can see why people say her books are heartwarming. Is it just me or was the main character giving Carrie Bradshaw vibes but way less provocative obv
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC!
What a cute book!! This is a first for me by this author and it will not be my last!
I've never been seduced by Paris, although I love visiting its art galleries. And the view from Montmartre is stunning. But it's a city I can take or leave. Rebecca Raisin's Love Letter to Paris made me see it differently though, as a place where people live, move and have their being. I enjoyed discovering the French capital through Lilou's life. Almost I am persuaded to try again.
Lilou is a seller of old prayer books, love letters and ephemera in one of the city's flea markets. She is also, unknown to virtually everyone, the owner of Paris Cupid, an old-fashioned online introductions agency. Her own romantic life is studded with spectacular heartaches and failures. So she works hard to keep her identity secret. Who would trust her as a matchmaker otherwise, she reasons.
The book is plot light and character heavy, something the suits me perfectly.
Reading a Rebecca Raisin book is like sinking into a warm bath – comforting and relaxing and leaving you with a big smile. I read this book in a day.
Lilou sells dreams – antique love letters, diaries and prayer books from a market stall in Montmartre. When a close friend is struggling to find love, Lilou has the inspiration to set up an online dating site called Paris Cupid – a dating site with a difference. Once matched, members are only given each other’s first names, and they communicate only by letters initially so that they build a connection before meeting. What Lilou didn’t factor in was the popularity of the site when a well-known star went public saying that he had met the love of his life through the group, and that everyone would be trying to find out who is behind Paris Cupid. Also, that Lilou would have a secret admirer of her own. Lilou spends her time trying not to be found out as the brains behind Paris Cupid, and trying to find out who her secret admirer is. Throw some stray cats into the mix and you have a lovely, heart-warming story that will make you grin. Is the plot fairly obvious – well yes, but that only adds the charm – that we can see what Lilou cannot.
Rebecca writes beautiful descriptions of some lovely parts of the city, and gorgeous characterisations. A brilliant summer read.

I love Rebecca’s books. This one is wonderful.. A romance like no other. There are two sides to this story each as good as the other resulting in a fabulous ending. I really enjoyed this and highly recommend you give it a try. I read the opening chapter of her next book The Little Paris Hotel. I am looking forward to reading this when published.
This book is built on a pleasant premise; unlucky in love Lilou makes a living for herself selling old letters, diaries, prayer books, postcards- you name it- from her charming market stall. She is passionate about the lost art of letter writing and loves to discover and share others' stories. Inspired by this, she secretly sets up Paris Cupid, a dating site with a difference where matches exchange a series of letters before deciding whether to connect in person.
On the whole this book was charming but I felt it a bit of a slow burner, much like the romances it depicted.
With thanks to.netgalley and boldwood books for this advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
🗼Sweet, with love & romance all around💌📝
A Love Letter to Paris was a light, upbeat, easy read that I wholeheartedly enjoyed. I mean, there's even romance for the cemetery cats! The secondary characters like Genevieve and Guillaume bring that extra bit of je ne sais quoi and the Parisian knack for collecting and selling antique and unusual finds, like old diaries, love letters and typewriters(?) created a great backdrop for this romance.
Lilou the anonymous matchmaker, her fellow flea market vendors and her Paris acquaintances all add to this sweet tale of a young woman who's struck out in romance numerous times focusing more and more of her attention on matching others up through the lost practice of courtship through letterwriting. And, yes, she does have her own mysterious admirer to suss out in her spare time.
Was the love mystery solution predictable? Well, maybe, but the path there was a good read scattered with other matches that end up consolidating Paris's reputation as the City of Love.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Thank you NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Rebecca Raisin for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review! I loved this book so much and would recommend for anyone looking for a light summer romance read. I really enjoyed this book with the characters and ultimately was such a sweet story!
