📚 A prophecy that'll change their lives…

The story follows closely with Laurel Bay, the middle child of five witchy sisters living on Star Island. Who has the ability to mentally jump into another world, the Hedge World. Where she finds her soulmate from another life.

This was such a cute and cosy witchy read!

Was super easy to read and follow along. With a storyline that to me was completely unique, I hadn’t read anything similar. To add the world building was beautiful and felt really immersive.

A perfect little cosy witchy read.

Let this book absorb you into an adventure full of magic, family and a bit of history.

Thank you to @netgalley and @colleendelaneywrites for this book!!

This book was cute & cozy! It reminds me of Practical Magic, with a very earthen, family-oriented magic system. I didn't think I'd enjoy the soulmates trope as much as I did - so that was a pleasant surprise.

While I enjoyed it and thought it was fun, the writing could use some polishing - some sections felt juvenile and irrelevant to the story, while other sections weren't wholly fleshed out (we had a lot of moments where we thought we would learn more about Laurel's sisters, but instead we got almost nothing about them).

Overall this was a fun time! Fingers crossed that there's a next book in the series, because that cliffhanger!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Colleen Delaney, and City Owl Press for a review copy.

She is a witch who meets her soul mate. There is a past life curse on the family and a vengeful witch who wants revenge. Can’t wait for the next books in the series

Thank you NetGalley, City Owl Press, and Colleen Delaney for the digital ARC copy. The Hedge Witch by Colleen Delaney is available now in all formats. The Hedge Witch was such a fun read. It gave me Practical Magic/ Charmed vibes. I loved the soulmate and reincarnation storyline. Laurel and Owen must learn of their past lives to know what’s going on in the present. I think this could become a series perhaps a book for each sister as they all need to find their soul mates. I was smiling at Owen and Laurel’s interactions and thoroughly enjoyed the book. The world building setup was smooth and easy to go along with. I completely would recommend for YA and Adult.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the E-Arc!

The Prologue captured my attention with such a powerful scene. This set the entire book for what was coming. I enjoyed the entire book from start to finish.

One thing happens after another. Past lives, magic, soulmates and curses! Oh boy!

Two things to mention!
1. There is some death bits in the book..torture and death due to witch hunting back in the day. So just heads up. I'm not giving you the details.

2. There is some spicy bits in it that just went with the story.

And now back to the review! The story kept overflowing on the pages having me want to know what was going to happen next. The sweetness, the action, the suspense! I had to know what was going to happen with Laurel and Owen. Would they get their happy ever after? Will the curse be ended? Will Laurel meet Owen's family?

Owen's family sounds pretty cool. I wonder if we will get stories from Owen's side of the family too. I want Laurel to meet Owen's mom! Water witches sound very interesting to learn too.

The connection between Owen and Laurel was just right. I love the playfulness they have with each other along with the flirty and steamy bits. Soulmates is what exactly they are.

Laurel's sisters are awesome. Love how they all help each other out when needed. I believe more stories are coming! I can't wait.

This is a must read for a cozy day to dive into the world of history, soulmates, magic, family and adventure. Go get it today!

A new small town witch sisters, yes please! I really liked that the stories of the sisters start off out of order. Welcome to Star Island, home of
the Bay sisters. Book 1 starts off with soulmates across time: Laurel & Owen. Bad witch out for blood, sweet romance and 5 witchy sisters - can’t wait to see who shows up in book 2.

This is one of the first books I've read in a while that has made me immediately want to grab the next one. It sets up so well for a series! I instantly loved the Bay witches' dynamic, I'm very much hoping the next books have more focus on the sisters' stories too, especially Rosemary's. I haven't been reaching for romance books a lot lately but this was the perfect mix of plot and romance.

A prophecy, soulmates and witches make for a fun romance with a supernatural twist. This witchy love story introduces us to the Bay family and promises more adventures as each sister finds her soulmate, discovers past lives, unknown power and the importance of family.

I really enjoyed the Hedge Witch which is the 1st of a new series. I am looking forward to the 2nd. The story is a light and fun romance that gives an inviting look at a small New England community. The sisters are all witches with various talents and have been given a portent that when a certain event occurs they will all find their soulmates withing a year or two. Laurel is the first who meets the man who has been her soulmate through past lives. She meets him in the Hedge World, thus the reason she is called a Hedge Witch. As she meets his 21st century counterpart on the island they must fight the evil witch from their past who killed them in a previous life. Though they triumph at the end, the story of this witch is not finished, she is alive in the Hedge World and plotting revenge. I would recommend this book to those that like romance and stories of fantasy.

Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me. I was unable to connect with the characters as much as I would have liked and had to DNF at about 40% the story has potential, and it seems like it would appeal to readers who enjoy a cozy vibe, which I normally adore, but didn’t work for me sadly. I gave it 3 stars because I have no doubt that many will enjoy this. It is well written, just hit the mark for me personally.

Thank you to owl press and NetGalley for the Arc.

Love the cover. It’s simple and catches the reader’s eye.

Instantly what I like about this book is the background is a handful of pages but then the chapters start with the witches doing something interesting. I like that it gets into what’s going on instead of doing 20-100 pages of background and foreshadowing like most books. We also don’t have to wait to see the witches' powers, which is awesome.

The sweet instance of the reunion by the river; unexpected and I loved it.

LOC 360, “Love from a different life and it’s starting.” Great cliff hanger without boring the audience with too much at one time

The concept of Owen and Laurel/Amee dreaming of each other was so cute and such a nice touch. Since it’s a common belief amongst Millennials and Genz that if you dream of someone that means they’re dreaming of you. It's a great way to capture and connect with the audience.
Also love the concept of intertwining destiny of finding each other and past life’s meaning. The flashbacks were a cool way to intertwine the story. The author did a great job flipping back and forth between worlds. Usually when authors do this it does get really hard to distinguish what and where the character is at. The intentional writing was pretty good too. There was not a lot of filler in the book. Conversations and scenes had a point.

The romance scenes were good, however, the vocab in the scenes for female anatomy were a little juvenile. “Sex” and “folds”, c'mon you can do better.

I would love to see the next book with his family and go through that history as well. Overall, this was a GREAT book, and I loved the plot of it.

Laurel is a Hedge witch, living with her sisters Lavender, Rosemary and Sage on Star island. During Beltane, Laurel discovers that she has a fated mate.
Her soulmate, Owen is dream directed to the island where he could meet Laurel, but true love is never smooth sailing.
A fun cozy paranormal tale. Easy to read and first in the series dealing with each of the sisters as they connect with their mates.

What a fun start to a series! I wasn’t sure what to expect with this new (to me) sort of hedge witch, but I fell in love with this merry band of sisters.

Laurel is a hedge witch. She’s got all sorts of powers, but she mostly tries not to use them and instead has leaned into her calling as a tarot card reader. Living with her sisters in a house on a relatively remote island, there aren’t huge witch-related issues to worry about until one particularly eventful hedge jump. Having all been warned that the sisters would find their fated mates, Laurel eagerly discovered her soul mate (or a version of him), but that appears to have triggered her past lives-self’s cursed arch-nemesis to resurface.

Owen is the son of a witch but is not particularly powerful. He is a carpenter entering his slow season when he meets Laurel in what he deems a dream. On a quest from a higher power, he ends up adventuring the said remote island and gets quickly pulled into the mayhem that ensues. Don’t worry, though, because there is also romance, sexy times, good conquering evil, and all that jazz. I like the unique blend of powers we learned about and hope Owen’s chaos-loving family comes to visit them soon!

Laurel Bay and her four sisters live on Star Island. While her other sisters have been more diligent about developing their skills as witches, Laurel is happy doing tarot readings and going into the hedge world. Since around 14 years old, she goes into a meditative trance and explores this other worldly space preferring not to interact with any beings encountered. But she recently finds someone who she feels she must have met before back in medieval France. Her true soulmate. Meanwhile in Maine, Owen, a carpenter is at a loss. His very witchy cousin has a vision of him meeting someone and tells him he must go to someplace called solaris. This entertaining story weaves true loves, a bit of spice with curses lasting through centuries. Hopefully the is just the story of the first sister and we'll see more in future books.

This incredibly descriptive book by Colleen Delaney is the first book in The Witches of Star Island series which was published on 5/14/24. I was super excited when I read the description for this book and I was not disappointed (well only a little because I have to wait to find out what happens next!). I loved the sisters and reading about their particular speciality. 💖

The intertwined past lives with the present was such a sweet display of love and connection. The bond of the sisters and need to protect your mate was touching. I enjoyed the entire witchy vibe of the book and cannot wait to learn more about the sisters and their fated mates! I really appreciated how I felt a part of the book as I read it, like being enveloped in a warm cozy blanket… the description and emotions made it feel like home.🏡

Thank you to the author, Colleen Delaney, NetGalley and the publisher, City Owl Press for the opportunity to read this book.

Quick and cozy witchy read that has a slight YA feel. A group of witchy sisters are set on a path to find their soulmates but trouble finds them in the hedge. It’s up to them to break a curse they don’t understand so they can find their true loves.

The Hedge Witch overall was a nice story about a family of witches coming together to help their hedge witch sibling who experiences a past life attack. The story was charming up until a certain point and a cross between Charmed and The Witches of East End. With that being said, I did not like the descriptive love scenes which destroyed the light magical vibe.

The Hedge Witch was an okay read, witchy and cozy but not interesting enough for me to continue the series.

This book totally hooked me, and I could not stop thinking about it whenever I had to put it down.
It was sweet, funny, suspenseful, witchy and quirky. I was snort laughing a few times, aaaawing at the romance and cheering for the sisters whenever they were in trouble.

I love reading about witches, and this book did not disappoint. This story is like "Practical Magic" set in the present day, with some kick-ass witch sisters and a suspenseful side plot where a revengeful witch decides to mark our lovely main character Laurel.

I had the best time reading this book, and I will definitely recommend it to all readers who wish for a little magic.
Thank you to Netgalley, the Publisher, City Owl Press, and the author Colleen Delaney for providing and allowing me to review this book. I will publish my review on Goodreads and Amazon on May 21st.

The Hedge Witch is a charming book with likable characters. The Bay sisters all reside on an island, and they are each different, a different variety of witches. The story involves past lives, fated soulmates, a bit of suspense, and some nice romance. Each sister will have a story, and I look forward to reading them all. This is a fast-paced story that will keep you engaged, and it is a fun, light read.

Thank you, NetGalley and City Owl Press, for the advanced copy. These opinions are my own.
