A dead cute romcom!
This was a great twist on the classic romcom and was a truly delightful read! The main characters were each endearing in their own ways, and the banter between them was brilliant! Of course, everything I thought about Callum changed when things started to get spicy between him and Lark - loved the twist with this! At this point the spice be SPICIN’!!
An easy, enjoyable and fun read, I would definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys the following tropes:

- friends to loves
- Opposites attract
- Dual POV
- Cinnamon roll MMC

4 stars

Thank you to NetGalley, Ivy Fairbanks and Rnadom House for the e-ARC kin exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Morbidly Yours by Ivy Fairbanks in return for my honest review.
If you love a good Rom-Com then this book is for you, it has the added bonus of a quirky setting in a funeral home, and with
characters that are really likeable and relatable I loved the banter between the two of them which had me laughing out loud. I definitely recommend reading this book and I shall be looking out for other titles by this author

I LOVED this! Such a fun and quirky rom-com with a brilliant balance of banter and sweetness. A must read for anyone looking for something light and autumnal with good worldbuilding and characters to root for desperately. A great example of the genre.

I thought it was a nice romance between two contrasting characters, but the fact that the MMC worked in a funeral home did not really bring anything to the story instead of a shock value. It could have been a small cafe or a bookshop in its place and the story would still make sense. In the end it was more Lark than Callum’s story for me and I thought it was just ok.

This was great, a very good romance & I liked both our main characters as people, they both had such interesting lives and hobbies that they also shared with each other and showed interest in.
It did have the annoying 3rd act break up but I didn't mind it too much, it could have been resolved quicker if they'd just communicated but they did both use the time to grow and figure out there own shit.
Callums job was really interesting, it went into detail without being disrespectful and he seemed to have a really good outlook on death and grief.
The big push/pull factor of this was Lark not wanting to be romantically involved with anyone due to the death of her husband and what seemed like a lack of closure for her with how he died and the events surrounding it.
I actually liked the friends to lovers storyline, I think because we also got to see them become friends first.
The whole 'I need to get married' but 'I never checked with a personal lawyer' storyline was silly but I just went with it.
I also love that the characters were older ~35 as it did help with the maturity of conversation too.

Callum is an undertaker in Galway, Ireland who generally keeps to himself, doesn't socialise much and is asexual. Lark is from Texas but has moved to Galway to take on a temporary Art Director position at an up and coming animation studio. She moves into a flat next door to what she initially believes is a B&B, but when she takes over a package of body bags, she quickly realises it's actually a mortuary. She's freaked out but it doesn't stop her trying to befriend Callum instantly.

Callum needs to find a wife before his next birthday to keep the funeral home that's been in his family for 4 generations but Lark won't get married again, she won't even consider a relationship after a previous relationship scarred her. But spending time together they quickly develop feelings for each other.

I thought the story was well written and I enjoyed the development of both characters as the story progresses. The spicy scenes were hot, but if Callum had a dirty mouth it would have been so much hotter. He's quiet, proper and is only able to have sex if he has a connection to someone - the best character type to be completely filthy in bed!

The story starts a little slow but it picks up quickly from about the midway point. No miscommunication between them but they're not on the same page at the same time when it comes to admitting their feelings.

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

This had so many things I love in a book; cosy, grumpy sunshine, and a slow burn that kept my interest. I also really enjoyed the way the topic of grief was approached in this, and the representation of demisexuality was well done too.

this was difficult to rate because it took me a week to read - not because the book was bad but because i was so busy. this meant that i was quite detached from it unfortunately.

however, i really liked the exploration of grief throughout the book and when i finally sat down to finish it i couldn’t stop crying. i will definitely read more from the author!i’m

4.5⭐️
Callum is such a sweetheart. Where do I find a grumpy, shy Irishman to fall in love with me?

Lark is someone I’d want as my best friend. She’s so sweet despite her tragic past. I love the development of their friendship into more of an attraction for one another💖

It was more on the slow burn side and I loved that. The sexual tension between the two. His sweet gestures like writing a song for her 💖💖

Also I loved our side characters they just added so much to the story. I was really sad at Maeve’s death she was an icon.

To me it wasn’t just a love story but a journey of being able to find love in a person even after suffering such tragedy.

“There's so much sadness in this world, and you seem to always be spreading joy through it."

"We show the people we love the ugliest parts of ourselves, and we tell them the truth even when it hurts, because that's what intimacy is."

“Lark, your smile saved me like an emergency transfusion. Your laugh is the song my every blood cell dances to. Your touch revived me from darkness. You are my pulse. You make me feel alive even when I'm surrounded by death."

“I've been yours. Completely, ridiculously, hopelessly yours."

This book was so adorably cozy while also balancing in heavier topics like grief. I love a good slow burn and this felt just like it. It was so beautiful to watch the relationship between Lark and Callum evolve. Plus who doesn't love a good grumpy/sunshine??? All in all, yes. Big fan of this story and very much looking forward to more!

Morbidly Yours is a beautiful slow burn love story where two opposites are immediately drawn together when Lark moves next door to Callum. This book covers some different topics to your usual rom-com, it looks at healing after grief, being a demi-sexual and the main male lead is an undertaker. I loved watching them fall in love and Callum might be quiet in daily life, but he is pretty hot behind closed doors!

As an Irish girl, I love to see Irish characters represented in books and this one was great. Cute, funny and an easy read that I would definitely recommend to anyone that needs a pick me up and a bit of romance.

I did not know what to expect going into this book but I was pleasantly surprised. I found myself really relating to Callum which I kind of didn’t expect. I found it really refreshing to focus on a character that was on the asexual/demisexual spectrum, particularly a male character.

I liked the relationship between the two characters. It felt like they had a genuine connection outside of the romance. I liked the whole grumpy/sunshine dynamic (shock a “grumpy” who wasn’t a horrible person). They were really sweet together and I can actually see these two being together until they’re old.

I am a sucker for a good friends to lovers book so I think that was a key reason I loved the book. It was easy to read and the writing was good. I liked it being set in Ireland and actually getting to see parts of the surrounding which made the characters feel more grounded and real. I felt like the last 30% of the book was a little bit rushed which is why it’s only a 4 stars from me, but with that being said I would still recommend this book to others and actually did genuinely enjoy this book.

I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a good friends to lovers romance or anyone looking for a good autumny-romance!

Overall I’m giving this book 4 ⭐️

this is THE book. I absolutely adore it, never did I think a mortician could be this amazing !!! I loved both MCs Lark really was this sunshine who lit up everyone’s lives with just existing and sometimes sunshine characters can be annoying but it wasn’t like that in this case, Lark was the most perfect sunshine character to exist. Her grief was handled with care and also the pressure she had put on herself following her husbands death was impeccable. I adored her progression through the book to healing herself through therapy and opening up to others around her it was done perfectly.

CALLUM the man you are. New book boyfriend alert!! He was just perfect in every sense the way this man thought about her and opening showed he wanted HER had me swooning. You could describe Callum as a grump but I could see right through him and reading about his back story about why he is so closed off broke my heart. Lark really brought him out of himself and made him feel like he shouldn’t be ashamed of who he is because he’s loved that way. He spoke irish which had me on the floor panting :). He was just perfect in every sense.

Also this was marriage of convenience and again I think this can be done poorly but Fairbanks hit it out the park (i’m not going to spoil anything) but OMG DONE TO PERFECTION.

Not to mention the banter in this book was 10/10 they really fell in love platonically which developed into relationship and I love me a good friends to lovers. This book was just amazing and I can’t wait to read everything Ivy Fairbanks writes.

- no one could make me forget about lark

- i craved her light like a houseplant languishing in a dark corner

- i wasn’t strictly honestly when she’d asked how to say “i want you” Santaíonn mé thú also meant “i love you” when it came to lark want and love were on and the same

- i wanted to love lark the way she lived colourfully and full of spontaneity

- to love was to accept risk

This book took me by suprise. I haven't heard much about it before, so I went in kind of blind. I loved the setting in Ireland, i loved the MMC, i loved the story! All in all, a great read.

I finished this a few days ago and I don't really have anything to say about the book?
It was fine, sweet but quite generic. I actually struggled to make myself read the last 20% of the book because I didn't have any strong feelings either way about it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc! I haven’t read many books that aren’t set in the US, and I loveddd that this one was set in Ireland. The character development was really good, and I loved that the MMC worked in a profession that no author ever uses. The plot of the book was really good and I loved the tropes in this, and in the end I gave this book 3.75 stars! I definitely recommend this book to everyone who likes books that aren’t US based.

Morbidly Yours is a heartwarming and hilarious opposites-attract romance that blends quirky charm with deeper emotional themes.
Callum, a shy and introverted mortician, needs to marry by his thirty-fifth birthday to inherit his family's funeral business.
Enter Lark, a lively Texan animator who’s sworn off love after losing her husband. As their friendship grows, Lark helps Callum step out of his comfort zone, leading to hilarious dating escapades and sweet moments of connection.
Set in the beautiful backdrop of Galway, Ireland, the banter between this grumpy-sunshine duo is delightful. While the story touches on grief and healing, it balances serious moments with lighthearted fun. The dual POV adds depth to the characters, and their blossoming relationship feels natural and engaging.
Though some plot elements feel a bit over the top, Morbidly Yours is an enjoyable and cozy romance that will leave you smiling.
Very grateful to the publisher for my copy, opinions are my own

This book was super sweet! It was just such a light, good-vibes book. I have nothing particularly negative to say. It just wasn't phenomenal, hence the 3 stars.
